This is video 1 of 3 in the "How To Make Drum Covers Series". This video covers gear that you would need to begin recording videos/covers. This gear is based on personal experience, and what I have used in the past, or am currently using now. The products in this video are subjective, and may not work for everyone. There is a lot more gear out there that you can find online, that serve the same purpose as what is demonstrated in this video :)

Holy crap! I'm blown away from the detail you put in this video. I'm completely about away from the Yamaha EAD10. The sound it gives on the drums is really really, good and hopefully it fits my budget. I can't wait to watch part 2 and 3 from this series. Thank you for taking the time to make this series Lindsey.

Is it just me or did the iPhone have better audio than the GoPro 9?! The GoPro made the snare sound like it was under water

Im still kind of unsure about the EAD10, does it alter your drum sound? Your snare always sounds absolutely massive!

    • @jeremyfaucher8750
      @jeremyfaucher8750 Год назад

EAD10 is awesome. It basically is a mic with the option to trigger sounds. It adds a bit of effect but you can have as much or as little as you like. You can add/buy a snare trigger and tom triggers as well and the whole kit can be triggered. I just use the EAD10 with no extra triggers. Just some reverb and the kits sounds like a beast.

I am so envious of your set up! You even got me painting my walls black 😅 My rgb LED lights arent strong enough so my videos look rather dull at the moment so I cant wait to see your lighting set up video. Keep up the good work! I learned the song "When we were young" based off of your drum cover! I am happy to see what drumming has done for you!

I have a question to tell ya, if I may. 😏
I have a GoPro hero 9, a Motorola stylo5, I don't even know how to start a laptop and I just pulled the trigger on an aed10. I can't find any videos about pairing an Aed10 with a GoPro which raises lots of questions for me but before it arrives I mainly wanna know what cord id need if it's necessary-or even possible-to tether them.
    Thank you.
    P. S. You rock 🤘😝 keep it up

Thank you a lot for this video.
I play drums for fun and mark my progress by posting drum covers for friends & family. I used to use my iPhone 13, but it works badly with a lot of crashes in songs. I want to improve sound quality and I'm trying to find not very expensive & not very complicated way to get better sound from drums.
Looking forward to part 3 with Yamaha EAD10 example

Although I'm not a drummer, Lindsey, I enjoyed this video because you have a knack for explaining clearly to a non-musician without oversimplifying to your core audience.

Interesting equipment. It's a pretty daunting, all-in forklift investment, if one were to buy all that day one. It's important to understand that you can get into this on a shoestring budget, and incrementally up your standard over time. The Confucius saying "you don't need a cannon to kill a mosquito" definitely applies if you are just getting into the game and don't have the money, audience, etc. But when you get to 180K subs and you're playing stuff like Blink 182 covers, there's a standard and you need most / all of this stuff, including some things not mentioned in the video (filters) that can do things like dampen the snare drum.

Hi Lindsey. Thanks for the video. I am gearing up to do some drum cover videos more for a video resume. Every band or musician I have contacted has asked me if I had videos of my playing. My plan is to capture myself playing to rock, blues, country, R&B, funk, Motown, a Bossa, swing, reggae and a variety of shuffles. I've got a mic setup, interface and software (and drums too of course). Have you run into any copyright conflicts, or do you think denoting that as a disclaimer would suffice? Seems like a lot of work, but the goal is to get the gig!

Is it necessary to have an EAD, mics, and an interface for quality audio? What is the function of the EAD as opposed to the interface and mics? Also, are the ear plugs just for protection or are you also listening to the music you’re playing?

I was about to say the same. The raw signal from the mics sounds better than the EAD10 (not a fan). Still too boomy/muddy ofc, but when properly mixed there’s no way the Yamaha would sound better.

Cool stuff. A few suggestions though: 1. Please use a better mic when you're speaking. 2. The lighting setup could be improved, so that your face is not too bright. 3. You could add another camera for a different angle. Everything else was fine for my eyes and my ears. Nice to see how much you have improved over the years. Well done :-)
