You have unparalled concentration of information while still being informative. 10/10.
I don't want to play another healer, I just want to play mistweaver but everytime I see this changes it really demotivates me. I'm tired of seeing blizzard making changes for the sake of making changes. Who ever is doing this decisions clearly never plays the game. I want to see good changes for this class and don't want blizzard to also invalidate the changes 1 month later. i'm always that person that says, "play whatever you want, whatever is fun for you" and throughout DF I have been having so much fun with MW that I kinda forgot that blizzard hates MW, but at this point is starting to get exhausting. As always I stay with the huge hopium that they will actually make a nice change and add Bres
We need to get a huge room for everyone that says Blizz hates their class and see which class complains the most
Sale i had to switc h palla for mythic progreso 😢
@@hoodpope1851 That might not end how you think it will. It will just lead to more Hpally and Rdruid changes as always....
@@Theparadoxd7 Don't forget the obligatory resto shaman nerf.
They changed Healing Elixirs to be "noob friendly". Noones uses expel Harm, like ever. So what's your problem? They are not changing entire spec, nerfing to the ground or anything. You complain just to complain, that's just really sad.
"We have an ability called soothing mist we should probably be able to soothe" SO REAL
Great commentary, well articulated and controlled even while still clearing sharing frustration. I’m still a relatively new mistweaver and planing to main it for the first time in 10.2 but does anyone else feel like That monks are one of the few classes who’s delvelopers don’t play/understand the class they are balancing?
Thanks for giving voice to these concerns. It does seem that nobody at blizzard actually plays Mistweaver. I hope they listen and fix the actual issues we have.
I think they lack a monk player in general. Windwalker stuff also usually seems extremely tone-deaf. Brew is pretty decent but I feel like they haven't really gotten any interesting changes since 10.0
Idea for expel harm turned into a heal/ absorb with damage component to it would be cool. We drop healing orbs like brew and Expel harm heals based on amount of orbs. and creates and absorb = to the amount of orbs and the amount absorb used damages near by enemies. Would help a little with defensive ability we can use often. And make it off the GCD so we can use it naturally on rotation. It would feel nice but yeah some passive Melee range and passive armor health would be great. Also I feel like fort brew should be baseline on all monk specs.
I love the idea of expel harm adding ~something else~ based off number of orbs but the idea of having *yet another thing* needing to track stacks for efficiency feels like nails on a chalkboard to me . We're already juggling with RM spreading, Sheilun's, Chi-Ji setup + being in melee and all that comes with it that adding one more stackable thing will definitely skyrocket the skill ceiling for the class.
@@Reelax1On Brew it shows the number of orbs on the button so we won't need a weakaura for it at least
remember back to mop and the orb bots... was disgusting.. never take me back there...
Thank you for your hard work - it's really frustrating to get the short end of the stick in terms of "changing order" for class-reworks or glow-ups. Monk still has a lot of glaring issues (take the capstones on the general tree as one of many examples) and it feels like MW is really always one step behind the current design philosophie.
So I hope they get some work done for 10.2 (all the points on your wishlist sound valid and definitely not over the top compared to other heal-specs, they could roll out the BR for every healer in the same update...) but I'm not really optimistic that we will see anything else besides them half-heartedly tinkering around with HE and EH and somehow making it worse than before anyway. :(
Thanks for continuing to be an advocate for us moving into 10.2. I've definitely been feeling the lack of good defensives and HP as I've headed into 25s for the first time this season, so fingers crossed there's a dev listening somewhere!
good video. it makes sense that you are top ranked mw, your intellect is shown off in videos like this. thank you for taking the time to give your opinions its always good to hear how you feel about the class as a leader in the community.
I always thought a choice node on ring of peace to remove the knockback but make it a slow zone with a soothe would be really cool.
You are a master of this Spec! 100% agree with your assessment!
i like your approach not only you point out what you don't like but also give options on how blizzard can fix some of these issues
Great video, thanks!
great video!
I wish there was RUclips channel like this for other classes too
I usually play resto shaman so I am very familiar with not having a lot of defensives, but mw is a class I find extremely fun to play and it honestly is SO much harder to keep alive. it's a new process and I'm only 430 ilvl doing 20/21s, but I'm more or less forced to cocoon myself on cooldown to even survive mechanics I normally just use a little heal on and ignore.
Great Job!! o/
ya i guess they should make healing orb a choice node, either a manual heal or an auto heal. I think our life cocoon is supposed to be our ST dr, if they gave us a multi target DR instead of a second ST one that would be better imo. I think if they just made serpent statue better that would make more sense than allowing us to channel soothing while moving. since that would channel on its own while we were moving.
Lol! The thumbnail killed me!
I enjoy your channel so much. Thank you for these videos and I appreciate the explanations. Wishlist, I'd like Expel Harm to be used on party/raid members passively with Brewmaster like Holyword with Pally's. Mistweaver wishlist, can I have my Sinster Teachings back? Lol
Omg yes to Battle res!! I think all healers should have a battle rez!
aint nobody at blizz playing monk if they think elixir change is a good idea. It's literally the only survival option in the majority of cases. Good point on soothe as well..
im blastin misty this season either way but def hope at least some of these changes come through
Hello, what keybind do you use has a mist monk? i read alot of your stuff and i was wondering which one do you use to maybe help me out :P
wonder if yulon build will see more play in m+ after the soothing mist vivify and jade serpent statue buffs so people can play a more caster mw if they dont like HAVING to be in melee to heal the best
The soothing mist & vivify changes were to buff spot healing which has been their focus for a lot of healers
It doesn’t change our build for keys and if they want to “heal the best” they need to be in melee for Rising Mist at the very least
Great Video Meg 😁 one day Meg one day ...
While i personally didn't use Elixir as it currently is, i agree that control over QoL should be an option.
very important and good video. i paused mid way and made a mental note of what i think MW needs and it perfectly lined up with your suggestions of melee range, defensiveness, brez and a better external. nice to see that there is obvious common ground which need to be covered with the spec. i love MW and monk in general but if you compare it in the current state, it is just a worse paladin in pretty much every way. this was the case for a while but after the rework this is exacerbated massively in my opinion.
I would like to see Touch of Karma being added to MW kit. We need more survival abilities.
I just started playing mistweaver and its really fun, my friend who tanks for me says otherwise
Really like the idea of just give Brez to every healer. That's one form of homogenization that is just QoL. Giving it to Hpally and not MW was a "they don't play this game moment" or "they just play Hpally".
I wish they would let MW keep thier "busted" tset and give them more showtime in M+. Just some love blizz, maaaaaan :(
Good vid as always.... p.s. for the love of all that is holy please help, Soomweaver is back on the forums!
I would loved extended melee range, I've found myself on many occasions not being able to hit the target thus healing because doing it would get me killed.
Wishlist for M+ primarily (Fistweaving), but to a degree Raid
1. Increase melee range - Being in melee is fun, but very challenging while healing. Longer range would make it less hectic to be close to frontal and ground effects etc while also healing.
2. Make Essence Font a AoE heal cooldown that buffs your other spells in the toolkit. EF is very nice to use on the move, but atm it's just a replacement for a badly placed faeline.
3. Make Expel harm a passive ability that heals if your health drops low, maybe also make it remove some debuffs at the same time. So it lives up to its name.
4. Healing Elixir is great as it is. The only reason to do something about it is remove it in favour of something else making MW tankier. But I can't see a 2-charge selfheal off GCD being trumped by something else.
5. Give every healer a Battle-res. Give every tank Bloodlust/Heroism. Remove those from DPS.
6. Merge Dampen Harm and Diffuse Magic into one 1-min defensive cooldown. Keep reactive the "spellreflect" mechanic because it's cool. But streamling physical and magic damage reduction.
7. Reduce CD on Fort Brew to 3 min and make it a big defensive. That way Dampen damage/magic can be the upkeep defensive and Fort Brew can be the "prepare for big damage" CD.
For Raid I personally enjoy and would like to keep the Fistweaving playstyle there as well but I haven't experienced the MoP ranged healing. I do want Yu'Lon to be meant for raid/BG and Chi-Ji meant for M+/Arena. But I did not enjoy the Cluded focus build of 10.1 at all. It was so much worse playing Mistweaver in 10.2 than it was in Season one or late in Shadowlands for that matter. Ramping into a Yu'lon that could be mistimed or outhealed by your other healer friends before you even got to healing was awful.
For raid I'd like some sort of Jade Serpent + Yu'lon build where you use renewing mist to ramp up general raidhealing for sustained healing but when shit hits the fan you put down a Jade Serpent statue that smart heals 5 targets in the raid and have Yu'lon be the big CD that pumps healing into the raid and indirectly makes Jade Serpent become even stronger. That way Jade can prevent Monks from always having to overheat and Yu'Lon can still be the big fun cooldown where MW shine. That would enable a playstyle where monks are Soomweaving tanks but still healing the players in raid that are in critical danger. And also enables a playstyle where MW can target heal and splash heal freely without competing with non-ramp healers for the people in raid needing healing the most because Jade Serpent fills that gap.
very soothing voice
I hit expel harm as MW but that because I play brewmaster so I’m just use to it
Hey¡¡¡ Do you think full caster mistweaver is a thing in 10.2? I mean u can now play it but is kinda underwhelming.I really wish they made it playable at a decent content level
No we are always melee, if you want a full caster there’s other specs already built for that
hmm, were they looking at us druids (frenzy regen node) thinking it would be a great passive for monks too but the low grade great value version? the whole class side tree needs to be reworked, even for brewmaster it feels weird taking soothing mist and a few other nodes just to reach xyz in certain builds. ALSO the SOOTHE makes so much sense like? make it soothing touch? battle rez : lifes breath or something zen.
Mechanically, healing elixur and expel harm can be the same thing? Just dump healing elixur and have expel harm fulfill that role IMO.
2:50 MWs die often because being a melee healer is the deepest part of hell in this game difficultywise. Maybe they should design their M+ a bit better to not heavily penalize this role.
Yeah, I really agree with the (wish)list of changes, and I also agree that monk devs have obv been asleep for a while and don't really know what they are doing or what's going on in the game. I hope that's gonna change. Also i wanna point out that fort brew is not only useless due to it's value and cd but also cause it's a 2 point choice node and it's pretty much unaffordable that way. The only value change devs made so far is a choice node for diffuse magic, keep it up that way.
I agree with most things said, expect i don't know how the extend melee range would work with out kit, i mean, i am sure they could find creating ways of doing it but i don't know how much that would directly or indirectly affect the play-style overall depending on how it was done.
I am not exactly thrilled with the removal of agency from Healing Elixir, having the ability to time it, yourself can save a MW or not be enough and just not get used but in reality, like...what MW doesn't press that button within their reaction time window when they get hit by something really hard simply because it heals instantly, and then, regardless of your UI you intuitively learn to have a timer in your mind which tracks the CD regardless.
It's a nice "oh sh*t" button which i find no reason to change unless other changes affect it in some way.
I would love to see something done with Expel Harm, this spell has been left in the dust, to be used in very rare situations only.
Battle res should be a must for all healers, it's a healer-type thing to do really, there's not good reason even lore to restrict a MW from having it or any healer, bringing back people from the dead is a kind of healing so...yeah.
100% agree for Fort Brew, Dampen Harm, Chi Cocoon (
My RL gave up on MW and assigned cocoon as a self devensive.
Too be fair, with the crazy amount of mobility monks have, it would be easy to make them too tanky. Usually, most of the big one shots you mentioned in dungeons are mechanics you avoid, which they have that in spades.
As always you have the best and most constructive coverage of Mistweaver.
I'm happy you bring up how confused and absurd the changes are. They mention decluttering the keybinds but they want us to use expel harm when we were not using it. They focus on two abilities that surely needed some love but they are not touching the rest of our class tree which is really terrible. We still have probably the worst capstone class tree nodes in the game. Soothing mist is still super clunky for no good reason (Mistweaver was never meant to be an immobile class rooting itself on purpose to pump HPs that's just silly). The cooldowns are still meh at best (they are not the worst but Revival is still a worse Preservation Evoker cooldown by a huge margin and the celestials are powerful but create a super degenerate gameplay for the whole duration they are out, it's not healthy for the spec at all to block you into an optimal rotation for so much time).
Patch after patch we have minor QoL like the ancient teachings range finally being 40 yards but it's still so little compared to everything that is needed. Our mastery is still a dead stat in most content no mastery should ever be that bad it doesn't make sense. Not the most desirable stat sure why not but Fistweaving makes 0 use of the mastery it's doing less HPs than trinkets at this point meanwhile Holy priest in some patches has its mastery has the biggest HPs throughput for 0 cost, whyyy?
We still have an extra button but we don't have to spend any tallent points to get it. Expel harm is currently much more powerful than Healing elixir ever was.
This video was put out before the EH changes. There was still much better places for them to start when it comes to our survivability
I'll always heal as mw but ya that healing elixer being a passive heal is terrible and much rather have the 2 charges to use when I feel I need them and thats for m+ and pvp. This passive change to elixer is gonna hurt mw in pvp imo
Not every healer :) , as a resto shaman I am fairly happy with mine, the 2nd tier wasn't amazing so fair :)
The other 2 monks are so mid, my mist is getting a raid slot anyway lol. Feels good to bring a raid buff.
Dang that Healing Elixir change is just a worse version of Well Honed Instincts from druids. Elixir does half the healing and procs at lower HP % compared to Well Honed, Sadge.
Healing Elixirs Has two charges and less cd.
Just give all healers a brez, like you said. Should just be a role spell. It's too important. I also think they should make it a 3.0 sec long cast for all healers and should be able to be used as much as you want in a dungeon/boss fight. Wiping on tyrannical bosses is too discouraging. Losing any dps and having the healer have to hardcast a brez is punishment enough in a tiker environment with mechanics.
Aggravating news, but a really nice write up and explanation of why it is so. Fingers crossed Blizzard tune in to you and implement your suggestions. Holy paladin walking away with all the utility this season, meanwhile mistweavers face all the same melee healer challenges and don't get any of the solutions.
Just cook thunder focus tea into expel harm
They really just do not understand mistweaver
Need to give Fistweavers a mitigated version of stagger. Make it apart of a talent choice- so ranged MW doesn’t benefit
Melee healing should've stayed a MW thing. Half our groups are full melee now. HPAL already has a super defensive kit and can be a ranged healer. Make hpal a ranged healer and give one of their personals to MW lol
what is "DR"?
Damage reduction
just revert MW back to WoD status is the best answer. Spec got killed with legion release and was never again this fluid nor strong
These are actually good changes! The passive cheat deaths are actually very good for PVPers.
Every PVPer I've talked to has been extremely disappointed with the changes
In keeping with the "slightly worse for no apparent reason" vibe that you mention, I'd throw the 40% slow on mana tea in to that category as well. Mana tea is good and strong, but why does it need to have a random slow on it? Being slowed or stunned - or just generally losing control of your character, is one of the most unfun things that can happen to you in the game, so adding it into our core/only mana regen ability is ridiculous, it doesn't offset the power in any way, shape, or form - it's just straight up annoying.
50 % didnt feel weak at this point every spec wants more and more xd
Blizzard is trying so hard not to touch anything that would help ww that they would redesign mw then to fix the monk class tree
I cry-weave in the rain so no one can see my tears😢
I don't understand why they hate MW so much. I don't want to play another class, I LOVE MW but when you always bring a paladin, 1 or 2 priests, and 1 or 2 preservarion evokers it just doesn't seem like we have the time to shine. Just let us be good for one tier.
The defensive CD issue for monk has been a problem for a long time.
I think at this point Blizzard could make Mistweaver completely broken and noone would complain. There wasn't any love for so long everyone would be "ok you deserve this for now," unlike mage or else that constently get their attention.
Give mistweaver stagger
Dampen Harm and Diffuse Magic just need to be targetable.
I like the post. However I do not want a battle rez, sorry! I also do not want to use expel harm.
Being a monk main is suffering. I think we're masochists
I am a ranged upwelling monk healer, monk does just fine as a ranged healer its underrated style, i love it never had a survivability issue, never a mana issue now especially with mana tea change so all the changes are fine for me.
Honestly, I genuinely feel as though the devs who work on monks have no idea what's going on with the class. Brewmaster's stagger mechanic makes them great in raid but absolutely miserable in M+ with no consistent cooldowns (sure fort brew gets "fixed" with brew CDR on keg smash, but it's still a shitty CD, but dampen harm gets beaten out by the 10% dodge PASSIVE, and diffuse is niche at BEST), WW desperate for a rework of some kind, being a balancing nightmare and our tier needing changes several tiers in a row now and there being a GIGANTIC shadow of ToD looming over it and of course all the Mistweaver issues listed here, monks just need SOMETHING. I WANT to play my monk Blizzard, we aren't the redheaded step child
Edit: I realize I said Expel Harm instead of Dampen harm. Whoops
If they want to make it passive, make it a cheat death instead of this garbage overhealing
I feel like Rshaman has really been dropped down the stairs in this expansion but at least I can look over at MW and say at least we aren't those guys. I just don't understand how they can ignore MW and RSham and just constantly focus on Hpally and Rdruid with all the love, every, single, patch. Really getting tiresome. It's nice to see disc finally getting some love too but they should probably tone it's damage down and increase it's healing outside of ramps if they want it to be more accessable.
Just give MW a lust or brez. We'll never be top tier until we get one. Blizz for some reason hates Monk
If Meg is salty about MW you know it's bad...
Engineer bracers for all?
Come on girl do you really expect developers to play their own classes let's be real here
Can blizzard hire Meg for this already?? Sometimes it really feels like the world of Warcraft developers forget mistweaver exists
Nobody plays MW, they don't forget
I was exclusively playing mw since legion. And its just been downhill. Halfway through last season and I picked up hpal. I was wondering why I was torturing myself with mw when a spec like hpal existed..
No lust GG dead class 😂😂😂😂😂
I feel like them Nerfing healers overall is just a shitty way for them to fix issues with things being to easy to survive and instead of nerfing defensives of other classes they just decided to ruin healers to make it either harder for them to heal or make it even more annoying to do their actual healing.
Stop taking things away from us then giving it to other classes, See Paladin and druid!
1. fort brew - check
2. damp harm - check - make it just "normal"
3. meelee range !!!!! - 5 marks means MOST important ! this is what makes mw in certain cirumstances (happen quite frequently) "unplayable" in m+, obviously its not unplayable, but soooo annoying
4.-6. i dont give a fuck, especially with that battle rezz discourse all over the healer community - NO ! give MORE responsability to those brain dead DPS !!!! (obviously remove it from all healers)
4. add note: give more baseline dr - pally is played for a reason, healor dead = wipe, dps = dead = fine, make dps more reasonable for their lives while heal is passively more safe but has a LOT responsabilities for another 4 brain deaD PARTY MEMBERS ! (talking a lot out of PUG view)
I have decided to roll MW after maining resto Druid for past 3 seasons. I completely agree with everything you said here!! 🫶
