Bob Dylan - To Ramona (LIVE HD FOOTAGE 1965)

- I combined multiple clips from outtakes of D.A. Pennebaker's "Don't Look Back" to create this little music video of one of Dylan's most underrated songs. The bulk of the footage and audio was recorded at Town Hall in Newcastle, England on May 6, 1965.
There have been other videos on the internet, but never of this quality. I dubbed over the original low-quality audio with the official soundboard recording, only released in about 500 copies.
Enjoy this gem while you can, and please subscribe! Видеоклипы
"It's all just a dream, babe, a vacuum, a scheme, babe, that sucks you into feeling like this." How does a 22 year old kid come up with lyrics like that and then set them to a melody that perfectly expresses the emotions of the singer? Thank you for posting my favorite Dylan song of all time.
Peter, i am on board. Neil young said that songwriting is a gift that comes and goes. Dylan told neil young in an interview that he doesn’t know the guy who wrote those songs. It was a gift that came and went. If you are ready to accept it , it happens. If your not it passes. Long live Dylan. And Neil Young.
Being an on and off songwriter myself, I fully agree about the ethereal nature of the muse. There were times when songs just poured out of me unchecked and others when the flow was staunched. Check out a prolific period (during COVID) that produced this Broadway musical. ruclips.net/video/hJTBDtf41WE/видео.html

Peter: Yes, it's a brilliant song - the man is a genius 💯
One of my favourite Dylan songs when I was a young girl, in England, training to be a nurse. It spoke to me and I understood every word of it.
The more I listen to him the more I'm in awe of his genius at putting words together for so many songs.
Amen to that..... he was a amazing wordsmith.... what ever he was in touch with at that time... is something we can only ponder......
Pure raw talent. His phrasing and delivery amaze me every time

Late comer to Dylan. Almost 70 now and this has me in tears. So thankful I found all I had missed.
I'm so jealous in a way to listen to DYLAN albums and all his amazing work. His phrasing delivery his imagery for the first time is mind blowing, but the thing with DYLAN is no matter how many times you listen to one of his albums it will all have something different to say. Anyway enjoy and what a ride you're about to take.
Wow. That is a profound loss. You had so many opportunities to see and follow his career thru this time :(
Have you listened to his Ballad of Hollis Brown . Thats SAD but did happen ... more than people might think . ✌🏼
He says he doesn't know where that genius came from. He said it wasn't him.
Sounds like a genius to me.
The more I learn about good music, the more I worship him.
This little love song changed everything.
Ramona, come closer
Shut softly your watery eyes
The pangs of your sadness
Will pass as your senses will rise
For the flowers of the city
Though breathlike, get deathlike sometimes
And there's no use in tryin'
To deal with the dyin'
Though I cannot explain that in lines
Your cracked country lips
I still wish to kiss
As to be under the strength of your skin
Your magnetic movements
Still capture the minutes I'm in
But it grieves my heart, love
To see you tryin' to be a part of
A world that just don't exist
It's all just a dream, babe
A vacuum, a scheme, babe
That sucks you into feelin' like this
I can see that your head
Has been twisted and fed
With worthless foam from the mouth
I can tell you are torn
Between stayin' and returnin'
Back to the South
You've been fooled into thinking
That the finishin' end is at hand
Yet there's no one to beat you
No one t' defeat you
'Cept the thoughts of yourself feeling bad
I've heard you say many times
That you're better than no one
And no one is better than you
If you really believe that
You know you have
Nothing to win and nothing to lose
From fixtures and forces and friends
Your sorrow does stem
That hype you and type you
Making you feel
That you gotta be exactly like them
I'd forever talk to you
But soon my words
Would turn into a meaningless ring
For deep in my heart
I know there is no help I can bring
Everything passes
Everything changes
Just do what you think you should do
And someday maybe
Who knows, baby
I'll come and be cryin' to you.

Oh my goodness.... just wonderful that is!
It is difficult to pick my favorite Bob Dylan song, but certainly To Ramona is one of my favorites. A moving and evocative tune written by whom I consider as the greatest artist of my generation.
Greatest there ever was took the dark out of my life that,s for sure
this was the first Dylan song I ever heard. They played it on a radio DJ show back in the mid 60's. I didn't know the name of the artist but I knew from the beginning of the song that this singer was going to be HUGE. I guess I was right.
Sim!...
It is great, indeed--he'd already had several smash hits when Ramona was produced. I think his debut album was in 1962...
@@helenbodel3974 well, all this was a long time ago but I seem to recall that the first album I bought was a red labeled LP, Columbia was the record company. I think it was Highway 51 Revisited. I listened to that record ceaselessly for weeks, maybe months. It has always seemed to me that his early songs were the best...certainly they were the most influential. No one had ever heard anything like them.
Such maturity at such young age. !almost miraculous
First time I heard this song had a joint in my hand and a tear in my eye. First song to make me cry.

check out sinead lohan singing it.
When I teach about Dylan, I use this song to demonstrate his ability to perfectly and organically match lyrics to the melody, tempo, meter of the music. You might try this. I ask how many students have ever heard "To Ramona." I then select one at random from among those who have never heard the song. I hand them a slip of paper (or use a whiteboard) containing the opening two lines. I then ask the person to recite the words aloud while slapping a beat on the table. I ask him/her to repeat it a few times and then try to sing it. Invariably, the student winds up singing the words to the actual melody - as if that's the only way they could possibly be sung. Which is, in fact, the case and is the point of the exercise.
Such a beautiful song, one of my late wife's favourites, she heard a lot of Dylan with me around. What a great performance, who knew what further gems where to follow.
Your unbelievable Dylan contributions are the most sacred gifts anyone could offer to the world. I am forever grateful to you. This video means the world to me. Thank you.
I saw Dylan in the sixties and it is incredible how he managed to survive the drugs the constant touring etc that he did tells us something whilst some fell by the wayside Hendrix and Joplin to name but two.Despite everything Dylan was always in control which apart from his talent was his great strength.
Dylan saw all through the fog. He was playing the part with the "hip movement" but he never bought it into the act. He was more mature than anyone. The Beatles also, I'd argue were merely lucky. They had their innocence intact and then they made the trip to India which I think was a very important part of their life.
@@AA-sn9lz Why does their trip to India mark the loss of their innocence? Maybe you mean that their music became more experimental and less commercial?
@@thegreatedb2000i don’t think they’re saying that india is when they lost their innocence just that they kept their innocence intact for a good portion of their career and then had the trip to india which was an important part of helping them grow
Brilliant song in my top ten of Dylan tracks
Nothing but great, one of the best "eras" in many of Bob's IMO. I love this period of his. Thanks SP

... a music is not alone in its song, because, produced, its energy is the fire of a heart that we hear !
Very early, Bob penned in a song," and i know my song well before i start singin'". Still true today.
Love it! Nice editing and it sounds great. It's my favorite song from that album. so many amazing songs from this guy.
beauty at its finest
It's Super. Love it. Remember it back in '65. Loved it then, love it now.. Yes the sound is great. Dylan the prophet.
This song is both funny and tragic, a warning to Baez to give up, saying fighting is futile because he knew nothing wud be able change the world at a big enough scale for it to matter, Baez tho never listened and suffered from it unable to see she was fighting an unwinnable war, but he knew she’d never change which is probably why they never stayed together
Viper man
Best years of him. A different Bob.
Gold piece coming to reality 2023
Love this track. I like Another Side Of Bob Dylan. It has some great songs on it. All I Really Want To Do, Chimes of Freedom, To Ramona, My Back Pages, I Don't Believe You, It 'Aint Me Babe. That's not bad for an album that was slated.
I also didn’t like this album at first but thats the way his all songs are . The more you listen the better they get.but ramona is a masterpiece even if you hear it for the first time.!
@@asadmanzoor5797 You're right there. I've got Dylan albums before and I've only liked maybe 2 tracks, then the more i listen to it i get into more songs on the album. I think that's 1 of Dylan's brilliance. Almost all of his albums will grow on you if you give them the time to listen. Obviously not every album. You can't make music for 60 years and have every album a classic, but he's made quite a lot of really good albums that get passed by at first, but when you go back and listen again you find there's some really good albums you can rediscover. 👍
Back then, he sung with a lot of passion. And this song has such a beautiful melody. Thanks for the videos.
How could one man write so many timeless lyrics, that'll hold it's weight for eternity? He was literally a genius. I'm talking Einstein, Musk, whoeverthef*ck level! ❤
His harmonica is haunting
This is based on a classic German waltz known in Mexico as the tundata or waltz ranchero that gave birth to Mexican norteño music, bob dylan was the first gringo on making a hipster corrido or ranchera with American folk mix
