- Sinéad's superlative version of Bob Dylan's "To Ramona". Taken from Donal Lunny's "Sult - Spirit of the Music" TV series - recorded around 1996.
Sinéad Lohan - vocals & guitar
Donal Lunny - bouzouki
Steve Cooney - guitar
Absolutely the best cover of any cover EVER! The words, her voice, the guitar, the accoustic spanish, the bass, the drums! ITis ALL COOL beyond belief! Have it on REPEAT till even the cats object..
Beautiful words
@@kevinlong2014 Bob Dylan wrote it! Check out his version. Kind of hard on my ears compared to Sinéad.
@@kevinlong2014 Dob Dylan wrote this! AMAZING talents, all of them!
Yes Dylan lyrically was a super writer ... David grey does a good cover of this too..
Always thought this song would sound good with some Spanish guitar, would love to find a more mariachi sounding version of it too
No big production..no backing singers..no dancers...just a live vocal.... pure talent..beautiful voice...on key..in tune no vocoda
Sinead such a wonderful song...one of the times where the cover is as good as..if not better than the original..
Just one word for this performance....Fabulous..
Don't forget Steve Cooney and Donal Lunney
Exactly, master musicians in the background.
Sineads voice is so pure, and rich. I've listened to this song numerous times over the years and am still doing it in 2024. Regards from Ireland 🇮🇪 💚
I heard her here in Annapolis Maryland so long ago on her American tour. Unforgettable!♥
@johnclark8560 I think she has retired, from singing which is ashame because she has wonderful talent...Regards from Ireland 🇮🇪
It would bring a tear to a glass eye
Splendid poetry Beautiful interpretation❤
I listened to this back in the day on constant repeat.I didn't realise how much i missed Sinead Lohan.I hope shes doing well whatever shes up to.
Me too
Me three
@@annmarielong4029I hope she is ok and doing well. It's a bit weird that such a great talent with a lot of musical connections just disappears and never contacts any of them again.
That sensitive voice
Simply the best version of one of the best songs ever written. I once referred it onto a friend who was struggling and she later said it saved her life. Wow!
I'm gobsmacked by this wonderful Dylan cover, and heartbroken that Sineád is no longer performing. We are all the worse for that.
We are but, she made some songs and we we listen over and over. Thanks to you Sinead!
@@rosem4699 I wasn't aware Sinead wasn't performing anymore. I did notice i hadn't seen or heard of her for many years.☘
What a voice
@@janefriel6895 She married an American producer very and had children. Nobody has heard from her since
Goosebumps!! Im so touched by her voice
One of my all time favourites
I don't know if this girl was even born when this brilliant song was written, but it sounds as if it was written for her. Still causes a chill down my spine and i don't know how many times i've heard it.
I seen her in the cork opera house in 1994, it felt like i had been invited into her kitchen for a sing song. Sinead I loved that concert, it had such a homely feel to it and of course the video gives some idea how brillant the concert was. Come back soon, your are missed.
My very favorite song ..I listen to it quite often ..this chick is so beautiful and beautiful voice listen close you can pick up on the Irish lilt ...she imo was underrated in the U.S. and she went out of the line light to quickly ..she does a bob Dylan ding called To Ramona ...and she absolutely owns it with her version...check her out this song here one needs to listen to it a couple times in a peaceful n romantic place n frame of mind ...sweet dreams sinead n my friends...peace ...
perhaps the best Dylan cover I've ever heard
How lovely she is, and how beautifully she sings ... She pulls off one of the best Dylan covers ever. Sure, it's a shame she's no longer active in music, but what matters is she once was, and this performance alone made it all worthwhile. Brings a tear every time ...
Andrew Hawkey Hear bloody hear.
Brings a tear to me too. Wish I knew what happened to her.
I believe she had a child, and maybe that has something to do with her absence from music.
Andrew Hawkey well said
Absolutely spot on boy...one of the best,if not THE best, covers of Dylan's work. Her voice is angelic
I have put this on repeat numerous times and just listen over and over. I can't get enough of it. It really speaks to me. I love the singer, the musicians, and the song. Thank you all.
I do so regularly as well, one play is simply not enough ❤️
Fantastic version, better then original,
One of the most beautiful songs ever. Heard recently that Dylan should be recognized as the best at what he does in the history of the world. Think about it
Brilliant z
best cover i heard
one of the loveliest versions of a classic dylan song. beautiful.
You know you're stuff. Only a gentleman could say
Bolano
I totally agree with you Bill - you might want to check Mandolin Orange doing Dylan's "Boots of Spanish Leather" especially the Audiotree performance
Just so lovely! Beautiful Dylan song.
This is a fricking masterpiece
Can't believe I just found this, I'm not familiar with it but Sinead has just has me listening on repeat! Beautiful!
I’ve always loved Sinead’s version of this song- beautiful tone to her voice❤. One of my favourite songs
Ramona has got to be one of the greatest songs ever and this version does it the justice it deserves.
This is the best cover of a Dylan song ever. I had confirmation of that when I asked my friend Mike Harding to play it on his internet podcast and Donal Lundy,on this video agreed.
@@donalkinsella4380 Are you seriously correcting what's obviously just autocorrect changing my spelling, and from months ago,you sad individual.
Still blows me away everytime I listen to this.
No words sublime beautiful
Sinead Lohan is simply spectacular in this video; subtle with her inflections, and powerful with simplicity. Can it be we will never see or hear from her again? I can only hope we will. She is truly a treasure to behold!
Sinead still my go to artist when on a long drive. Wish she would release more material. Saw her live in UL limerick. Outstanding singer songwriter.
I heard this riveting song first on Terry Wogans early morning radio show and just had to look it up. Sorry to hear that Sinead no longer works in music but she’s achieved with just this one recording a timeless piece that cannot be bettered or equaled. God bless and keep you always, wherever you are.
I keep replaying this song. The poetry of it is brutalising. Dylan's finest monolgue to a woman friend Ramona who is so disburbed at events and driven to despair to consider leaving the scene. Dylan tries to dissuades her. Beautifully written song with a superlative melody. Made in heaven. They have said that when Dylan took up guitar the world lost a great storywriter. Too true ..
This is my favorite Bob Dylan song of all time. And I never heard a better than cover than this one.
I agree.i feel the same..I love Dylan...Greetings from Ireland.
Maybe you're a Dylan fan and might follow a link to this or maybe find it accidentally and you will listen to it once or twice and think to yourself "that's quite good".
Then it will pop into your head at some random time and you'll give it another listen.
But one evening after a couple of drinks you'll listen again…..and again …and again... forever
This is the definitive Dylan cover, Sinead's voice, the lyrics, the delivery, the consumate musicianship, everything comes together perfectly.
Thank you Sinead and band.
Magical.
I'm back here for the 100th time since I first heard it and that was 10 years ago. It is an absolute peach.
Una veu preciosa i una interpretació excel·lent, gràcies Sinéad
One of my favorit bob song waw so good lost for words
This is outstanding singing . Thanks Sinead wherever you are keep using your beautiful musical voice.
Time and Time again, I come back to listen to this song and each time it touches me.
She was made to sing this song, and Dylan was born to write it. Perfect.
This song, sung by Sinéad, helped me to step out of my emotional cold turkey after my former girl friend stepped out of my life. I kept on listening to it until there were no more tears...
Thanks Sinéad for giving us songs like this, I do hope you'll ever find the ways in your life to do more recordings.
Blood on the Tracks album did that to me. So I guess Dylan helped us both in a way
She is just phenomenal she speaks the gospel to me whatever mood I'm in her mother and my aunt were Great friends but I never got to meet her and she grew up ten minutes from me hope she makes a comeback .!
...the song is not alone in Sinéad's young and beautiful mouth because, produced, its energy is the fire of a heart that we hear !
I simply find this song 'eternally young', even at 20 years of age. Sinead was (and probably is) a stunning talent with a truly unique vocal quality that made her immediately vocally unbeatable and so esy in expressing her talent. (Anything with the name Donal Lunny attached, immediately bears listening to).
Every day for two weeks I've been visiting this lady I'm definitely in love with her voice and beautiful magnetic movements
For me this is now the definitive version of this great Dylan song
She sings this so well that when i first heard it on the radio i thought it was her own song until i discovered it was bob dylan's. Fantastic performances from both. Memories of driving with this blasting!
Sinead I’m truly blowed away with your beautiful angelic singing voice. Could listen to your sound forever. Good health and the best of luck in your life.
I never get tired listening to this😊
I heard this song for the 1st time the day before yesterday when a friend of mine sent me the link. I had never heard any version of the song before, not to mind this masterpiece, can hardly believe I never came across it before, but so glad I did.
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Stunning. Outstanding. A thousand listens and counting.
In this clip we are caressed with wave after wonderful wave of beautifully sensual expression exemplifying the potential of honey sweet vocal delivery of a classic Dylan lyric. How simply beautiful this combination is.
Great voice. Great arrangement.
I’ve been listening to this a lot lately. I never knew it was Bob Dylan track until recently too. It’s such a beautiful song. Lyrically Bob wrote it but she really brought the meaning of it to life. Also, I seemed to always hear it when I was in the car and my whole brain would just check out from reality.. I love this song so much & she made it perfect. 🎶🖤
Then, maybe you would like this song by Alan Price too. Both are very good. ruclips.net/video/MHgeI9XpIPY/видео.html
The meaning was already in the song written by Dylan, it doesn't need to be brought to life by a cover singer. People don't care to listen to Dylan that's it. Good cover BTW.
@@pocrack5714 I listen to Bob Dylan too. He’s incredible. I just liked her take & sound on the song.
Never get tired of this beautiful song and singer
The best cover of this song together with the cover from David Gray!
Correct. ❤
Dylan might have written it but this girl really heard it and turned it into something so much better...beautiful song.
Just beautiful. I know that I'm being biast as I'm Irish but where do get all these world class singers? We just keep producing them, year after year from a small pool. Very proud.
Bob Dylan is a genius. This artist’s cover is without parallel
with a voice like that is something we all wish for ,her inner soul just coming through total relaxing ,how beautiful and wow Bob Dylan one of the greatest lyricits of all time
Reminds me of a lost time How can words describe this fantastic performance
oh man what an amazing version of the song
I remember seeing her in the cork opera house supporting Paul Brady. I felt like I was in her kitchen at home. So lovely so beautiful so homely. Sinead time to come back and amaze us.
Sinead, et al, I found this at a time that I really needed it. Anyone can play the notes, but you all found the music in them.
Listening to Sinéad's beautiful interpretation of To Ramona is something of a bittersweet pleasure for me. The lyrics evoke a time and place that only exist in memory now, as perhaps they should. Still, it brings a tear my eye.
Just truly blown away by this, on the verge of genius, a very welcome new discovery. :)
Absolutely hypnotic. Beautiful voice, lovely song.
Absolutely class ❤
Sinéad has made this song her own. Fantastic version.
Spent a afternoon listening to this on the hospital radio. Never heard her before but now a convert BEAUTIFUL song and voice.
+graham rothwell What hospital? I wanna get sick there.
+kpbirdie Nice song but not a nice to first hear such a beautiful voice. Whiston Hosptal Merseyside England. Best listening to it in a more relaxing and comfortabe area. Must say the staff were all amazing.thanks for your interest.
I think her heart is where it should be . She has children now. Let her be now .
Great song, beautiful woman, beautiful voice, simple backing with a lovely Mexican feel, WOW.
Have to say, she took a lovely song and make it lovelier. What a talent!. Thanks TomScottland for uploading this marvelous tune.
Very beautifully sung. The emotions almost like that of Bob Dylan's. She will go places with this kind of sing. She has even prompted me to learn this song.. All the best to Sinéad.
It sends shivers down my spine shes the voice of an angel
Definitely the best version and production of the song.she makes you feel like she,s singing it to you.
Love -- beautifully interpreted -- this cailin owns it!
What a voice, what a band, what a song! Thank You!
C'est magnifique 😍 j'adore ❤️🥰🙏
That last line... it kills me every time. This lovely voice drove the sharp point deeper than Bob did...and he just about murdered me!
arguably one of the best cover versions of this song.
Praise The Devine .. that such talents come together - to bring about such Devine Beauty :-)
Wonderful singer.
Part of my list as best song ever, wonderful interpretation by Sinead Lohan
Thank you Sinead for this stunning version, the lyrics are powerful and true and you sing it so beautifully
What a voice and what a feeling!
This might just be the best Dylan cover ever...!

I have never heard this before, So beautiful. Cant stop listening X
Pure class
Simply superb version
I accidentally found this, and it is my favorite version .
Stunning. One of my favourite songs. Insanely beautiful words and singer. Sinead is serene.
Sinéad Lohan has made this her own with this version...truly amazing.
I listened to this all the time when i was a little girl!
In 1996 I was a baby at 36. Never heard this until John Creedon played it one day about 4-5 years ago. Absolute ... only way to describe it. What a voice. What a beautiful lady. Eyes a bit sad. Up Cork and that's coming from a Kerryman. Accompanying musicians excellent.
Just awesome! one of my favortite Dylan songs
Rocket
I have a copy of this on an album with fretless bass on it. Truly brilliant cover.
even Dylan fans would have to bow to this.
Sinead is an artist that should be promoted looked after and take her to the hights of her writing, to hear her sing and cover Bob Dylans song like this is beyond words ,just so beautiful, we need her back.
THANK YOU
CRAIG
Being a life long Dylan fan... I love Sineads cover of this beautiful song
Fantastic, great intupution 😀😀😀
Thank you. Thank you.
Astonishingly beautiful. She has completely captured the essence of one of Bob's most powerful songs
Just saw this great man last night in Dublin...a real artist..fantastic raconteur as well. The Island was stunning. Thanks for the music Paul
I sure hope she is ok and plans on coming back. So beautiful.
I was 10 years old in 1964 when Dylan released this song. I have never been able to listen to his voice so had never heard it. Spotify played it on my list last week and this beautiful voice grabbed me by the throat and forced me to learn it after work that night! Her cover is brilliant!
Amazing cover. Just beautiful
beautiful... thanks to my friend Joey for bringing me here
I hope everyone who was on that stage understands how much we love them for what they did.
The best cover of this too beautiful song of bob dylan. I think so.thank you sinead lohan it is wonderful ❤
