Love this band. This lead singer came from the famous 70s band, Head East. They had a big hit, can’t remember the title. John Schlitt became a Christian and joined Petra. Good job on another Christian jam, Shane. God bless and Rock on!

You are probably thinking of “ Never been any reason” Or “ Since you’ve been gone.“ Both were huge. John Elefante of Kansas produced this and probably sang back up vocals as well.

Upbeat, catchy, and fun...liked the quasi-Southern rock feel to it. Nice kick-out to the First Listens today! 🤘

Life long petra fan from the other side of the world originally. Jekyll and Hyde was first song I ever heard and Armed and Dangerous was their first song I fell in love with! If you liked All Fired Up though you need to check out Minefield from the same album which I believe was their most heavy metal like song until Jekyll and Hyde.
Recently went to their reunion show and going again next month. They still got it! Ended their performance with He Came, He Saw, He Conquered and it was epic!

Excellent pick, Shane! Petra is a hit machine that'll give you a fun deep dive! May I recommend the song "Chameleon"? Off of the album "Never Say Die," this is more a classic rock, guitar driven, slower jam.
Outside of Petra, there are so many bands you could dive into. I'll toss out the band Barnabas, a female-fronted hard rock outfit that make Petra seem like the Carpenters in terms of controversy. Check out the song "Gospel Maniac," a personal favorite of mine.
You're doing the Lord's work (don't laugh) bringing bands like this to light in 2024.

Definitely not Canadian. They formed in Fort Wayne Indiana back in 1972. Became more hard rock over the years. Mostly from the late 80's onwards. I'll give you my all time favorite song and album by the band, This Means War.

Just saw your channel for the 1st time today. Good video. I grew up listening to this band. They have a wide range of stuff. Heavier stuff "This means War". "Grave robber" is great too. "Council of the holy" and "Creed" are highly recommended as well. They have 4 Grammys btw too.

You should try the band Fear Not. They had a very Skid Row vibe. Try the songs Give It Up or We Have A God

Love Fear Not (and Love Life). They remind me of Slaughter, even more than Skid Row.

This is around peak Petra IMO. Best lineup, most polished sound. But this is not the best song on this album but still really good.

Petra i saw if true they were before Bob Hartman song writer and guitarist if same band many years ago. Maye not. Washed whiter than 70s album 1st maybe with the old lead singer Greg X Voltz Not sure how to spell his name. But for me that band was the best though different drummers on Never say die and then next album More power to ya i think different again. different sound then next album Not of this world i heard is when Luey Weaver joined and has stayed mostly from that time forth but they have had many changes over the years. I think the best albums of all i have heard are from the times of the three i mentioned. Angel of Light is maybe the best of their sngs in my opinion. they did a reunion tour the old lineup and it is on youtube and the song angel of Light Classic Petra live Angel of Light great sound maybe you react to that song live by CPR Classic Petra revival i think it stands for. greg X Voltz left after beat the system album which was a lot different new Keyboardist Who played with the drummer who use to be in Paul McCartney band. Then he left that guy i forget his name and joined Petra on beat the system and has stayed with the band sinse then i think. John Shlit the singer on the song you reacted to joined Petra next album and Dino and John Elephanta started producing their albums. So different after that. I recommend reacting to Angel of Light live CPR Classic Petra Revival. Many churches have more upbeat music. check out Passion band. Lot of churches sing like that. Not all heavy though like petra one of their best songs mellow called Grave robber.
