I was always a little puzzled when I didn't smoke a pipe, at why pipe smokers seemed to collect so many pipes. Then I started the pipe habit about a month ago, and I already have three corncobs, with a cherrywood churchwarden on order. Hmm.... 🤷🤷😊
I have about 50 pipes and smoke everyone of them in rotation. I will smoke each pipe for 2 or 3 days and then its on to the next one and so on until I've gone thru every pipe I own. So that works out to about each pipe being smoked about 7 or 8 days each per year .... they get plenty of rest between smokes. I have a rusticated Donegal rock Bulldog very similar to yours that I just love. I also give each pipe an alcohol cleaning after every rotation so there is no ghosting of tobacco when they come around for their next turn.
Thanks for sharing your pipe rotation with us. I especially like the Peterson 406 spigot prince. All of your pipes are beautiful and functional, two birds with one stone.

Hi Wilson. Do you have any problems' with keeping your vulcanite stems looking nice on your pipes. There are a lot of pipes I would buy, but have not because of them being vulcanite. I'm not sure about them. Bear in mind I'm talking about Peterson, Savinelli pipes predominantly.
Late reply here: Vulcanite stems are superior for clenchers, as it is a soft material. But as you are alluding to, they do need care. Most online retailers carry a stem oil that helps keep vulcanite stems in good condition, which I use in cleanings.

Hey Wilson, you look like my idol Oliver Queen aka The Green Arrow! Anyways do you have a specific schedule for each pipe? For example ahh its Monday, today is this pipe's turn, and this pipe happens to be this blend dedicated pipe. Can you explain further? I'm 3 months into this hobby and I'm lost. I currently have a 7 briars and 7 cobs rotation, 2 pipes per day and 14 blends for each. And starting to feel overdoing it, I'm looking towards other people's rotation to simplify my game. Thank you!
Ha thanks Jay! I have an older video on my pipe rotation that you can check out but in short, I have a 14 pipe rotation now and usually smoke 2 of them a day. If I don't smoke one day or smoke very little, the rotation is adjusted. So usually, my pipes get a week break. Don't overthink it. Sounds like what you're doing is fine.
Mighty fine collection, Wilson! I definitely am looking at a number of Peterson and Rattray's pipes myself. I'm really curious to get your thoughts on the Savinelli pipes. Most of the designs I like of theirs are meant to have a filter, and although I'm still new to pipe smoking and want to try everything I can, I'm hesitant to get a filter pipe and not enjoy using the filter. Do you use filtered pipes without a filter? I've tried doing some research but nothing is conclusive; most people tend to shy away from this practice from what I can tell, though. Does it damage the pipe? Or is it just more of a pain to clean with the larger bore diameter? I'd appreciate any thoughts you have, even related to pipe filters in general! Love all the content you put out, keep it coming!
Thanks for the kind words Derek. To keep my answer short, no I dont use filtered pipes ( I have before), though I understand why one would. Savinelli does offer nonfiltered pipes as I have owned several. They also dont damage the pipe in any way, as they are made to handle filters. Hope that helps!
Can I ask what faith you are? Just curious. I was raised in the Freewill Baptist faith for 20 years until I switched to full gospel non-denominational. The past several years I have gone to an Episcopal church. Like I said, just curious. Some churches are more legalistic than others

If you properly clean them, you wont much problem with the smelling. Mine are kept on display in my closet with clothes and there is no lingering smell.
