His testosterone got jacked up too, by the way! Good story! Man, the rubber band for the stiff legged deadlift is a great tip too, never thought of that before... Will definitely try it. RIP John meadows, you are dearly missed by all of us.
Man you're way completely different from another coaches and bodybuilder it's unique i love your vision simple and effective keep what you doing you are the best experience i saw respect so respect
I used to get the most PAINFUL hamstring cramps any time I'd do these. So I eased into it doing low weight, high reps. Now I can work to the point of failure without any cramps.
For me I’ve always really loved supersetting leg curls with Romanian deadlifts, that always used to destroy my hamstrings. I like only going up on Romanian dead’s 80% of the way as well John it absolutely fried the hamstrings
One of my fave early videos for hamstrings from John and with all the crazy information overload today, I just keep coming back to John's channel to get myself "centred". Gotta love the man and his partials
Immediate sub here. Came from the chest workout with Jay Cutler. Gotta love those leg workouts when you head to the toilet the next day and say, it can wait another day or 3. This accomplished that.
Your track story! Love it! Reminded me of the smokin hot dentist I had as a kid. She used to have her, "you know" pushed up on the side of my arm/shoulder while working on my teeth. As a teenager, needless to say, I didnt mind getting my teeth worked on!
Love your channel! I'm stepping up my leg training by incorporating more heavier sets throughout the workout instead of just with 1 or 2 lifts, and I can already tell a difference. Always been a fan of drop sets, but adding in partials and ISO holds with them is a game changer.
I did! How would you suggest working on the posterior chain effectively when I’ve had a laminectomy at L4/L5 S1? I used to to very strong in my posterior chain (glutes/hams/low back) but if I’m not extremely careful I can throw my back out very easily. It’s extremely frustrating and disappointing. I feel sometimes that I can’t lift the way I want to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated😊
I imagine that theory works out for women’s as well , my friend saw video with me she said we must look for a well formed guy too , good motivation tho lol
THANK YOU for this!! I feel like hamstrings aren't so much my issue, but rather that my gluteus maximus isn't as "big" or "hard" or "round/3D" as I want it to be. My gluteus medius on the other hand pops like a mother. I'm noticing it more as I'm dieting for a show and leaning out; legs and hams are there, but butt is disappearing. This has been my leg day workout for the past 4 months: Single Leg Extensions 3 sets of 6-10 reps Single Leg Curls 3 sets of 6-10 reps Stiff Leg Deadlifts 3 sets of 10-20 reps Glute Bridge 3 sets of 6-10 reps Leg Press- Single Leg 6 sets of 6-10 reps Wide Stance Squats 3 sets of 6-12 reps Wide Stance Squats 3 sets of 20-30 reps Walking Lunges 3 sets of 25 reps Seated Calf Raise 3 sets of 6-12 reps Standing Calf Raise 3 sets of 6-12 reps Standing Calf Raise 2 sets of 20-30 reps Not sure what else to do...probably not much during the rest of prep, but maybe 2 leg days in the off-season...with more glute focus? A TON of bridges??? I will definitely try incorporating your tips with the partial reps and added bands..and the "tilt" on the smith machine lunges tip was great! Thank you for ALL that you do!! Your advice is truly invaluable.
Thank you for all the awesome videos I love the way u take time an explain everything. Iv learned more from you in the last couple weeks than I have since iv been on here. I did one of ur biceps exercises yesterday an I could barely wash my hands when I left the Gym! Lol💪🏼👊💪🏼🚀
Wow, why didn’t I think about it...romanian deadlift with band like that, will try next time! Thanks!

i've never seen this machine of the last exercise before! must be a really good activation of the hams... sad we can't find one of this here in Brazil. Great workout, though!
It's worth pointing out to people that you were not bottoming out on those seated curls, you're obviously stopping the weight with your hamstrings, and I think that is HUGE.
Looks like just routine I need to target my glutes.. thanks for the tip on going heavier vs. light and which muscle group takes over. I will keep that in mind
Ok Cool, I am following a theory that when lifters did certain exercise/movements as a kid. That when they started seriously bodybuilding those muscle grew faster than others. Sprinters grew big legs. Swimmers grew huge backs and legs. Soccer players grew legs. Pushups daily grew chest and so on. Johnny jackson did shrugs daily as a kid, He has huge traps. Just a theory... I changed my screen name. I was Joe Proctor. We messaged a lot yesterday. Appreciate you responding back John. 😆 👍
Full Body Joe Don't need to limit it when you were a kid. Do daily push-ups for a month with crazy volume then go back and start benching. Tell me what happens
Medreg,, I am testing out that very thing right now.. Just did quads every day for 31 days. Light weight, 250 reps with 2 exercises. Took 12 days off to reset my bodies Mtor.. Going to start hitting the quads with heavy weights tonite. To see what happens.. I am 51 years old and going to see if my quads will grow... Which body parts have you tried this on ??.. Results and how old are you ??.
Full Body Joe I am 34. I used to do lots of cycling as a kid. So I don't really need to push my legs hard they stay big. Used to do lots of arm work as a kid too hence arms are too bad. Have tried feeder work on the long head of my triceps , just pump work every day. It grew . And same with rear delts , used band pull a parts daily. Then went to heavy work and they grew.
Medreg1983 Ok nice, i am going to see if i can get some body parts to grow at my age. I have been lifting for years because i enjoy it. And it keeps me young. I know about Rich Pianas feeder workouts. And Migan of Team3dalpha on RUclips. He talks about a similar principle with a 12 day lay off. Then start banging heavy weights. There is a study on resetting your bodies Mtor which helps restart the ability to build muscle. 12 days and your go to go.
Don't tell the missus about the track n field coach ....haha. Awesome video love the smith machine lunges definitely need to mad these into my workouts
BINGO! You just solved the band problem when there are no band pegs available! I'm gonna incorporate this program into my legs days in two ways. I can take parts of it and out them into a regular leg day that works glutes, hams and quads OR I could start to split the emphasis to an additional day that is a ham, glutes emphasis. Do you have any videos with this type training principles for quads?
Dude I miss you dog the part you said you didn't want your wife hearing this , that's respectful as fuck man you're the fucking bomb I know God is getting swole up there with you man much love
Hahaha love that tip for hamstring flexibility. From spending so much time with Dr. Serrano I realise the value of ischemic work for rehab, strength and helping to feel a muscle. I know you've seen some of his exercises. Do you think it is as important for hypertrophy. Just one Example of the many ishcemic exercises. His praying leg curl exercise. Kneeling on the ground curling heels to bum contracting hamstrings while someone pushes down hard. I see some value for this after a kneeling leg curl challenge set shown in the video
Glad to see there is such thing as leg curl machnes that use plate weights. I am about to max out the leg curl machines at my gym. I'm too fat/weak for the Glute Ham raise --- Need a resistence level between those two.
Yeah. Today was the Hamstring day on the 28 Days later program. The dumbbell stiff legged deadlift was better at activating my hams than the laying and standing leg curls. The leg press was alright. This is one of my weak points. I don't have a good mind muscle connection with this muscle.
John when your doing stiff leg deadlifting are you bending your legs? Or is it a proper stiff leg? I'm sure this question is a bit stupid but I'm 42 and been in the gym for around 8 months now and making some really good gains from your videos. But the stiff leg deadlift I bend my knee slightly? I suppose to preserve my aging knees more than anything. Cheers and keep up the amazing vids👍🏼
Love the Flexible Hamstring Story... 'A man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do'. Lol...
haha yep
Keeping it real !!
Lucky! My high school track coach was bald with a Tom Selleck mustache.
Rip John!! You are missed but never forgotten!
I love that your wife works out with you! Helps to keep the relationship strong along with your health!
Love and miss u. The knowledge u gave people I love to watch ur videos again it is a great loss
Omg that hamstring stretch story hahaha classic. Love it man, not to mention this video was excellent just like all your others
His testosterone got jacked up too, by the way! Good story! Man, the rubber band for the stiff legged deadlift is a great tip too, never thought of that before... Will definitely try it. RIP John meadows, you are dearly missed by all of us.
“And that’s how I got big hamstrings” 😂😂😂
Man you're way completely different from another coaches and bodybuilder it's unique i love your vision simple and effective keep what you doing you are the best experience i saw respect so respect
Probably the best stiff leg deadlift variations i will ever see. RIP hams
I love doing leg curls.
And partials, drop sets, and holds
Now I remember where I got it from haha
Thanks John
I used to get the most PAINFUL hamstring cramps any time I'd do these. So I eased into it doing low weight, high reps. Now I can work to the point of failure without any cramps.
The wife is going to love this workout.
yes!
Loved that story about the track coach

I freaking love your videos and workout knowledge/ intensity you incorporate! Keep up the great work! It never gets old!
We really miss John Meadows, but he's left behind a channel of pure GOLD!!!❤ Praying Mary and children are doing well!!!
The quadfather has legendary legs.....great info
One of my fave early videos for hamstrings from John and with all the crazy information overload today, I just keep coming back to John's channel to get myself "centred". Gotta love the man and his partials
Mrs Meadows’ form on the first exercise was perfect as was her cadence.
That hamstring flexibility story was too funny 😂
Another great, informative video!
thank you!
Yes, I'm curious how it messed w your test.
cant wait to hit 45 and start wearing socks like that
Lmao 🤣 you could start now already. Why wait? Own that shit 😂🗣
Ok boomer
LVL60Beltran you wish you look half as good as John when you get 45. I suspect he looks better than you now and he's probably half your age.
LVL60Beltran 45? he looks like hes in his 50s

thank you for the work you have done for people. RIP
John, I really enjoyed watching your workout. Great exercises with reps, partials, and supersets!
Glad you enjoyed it!

That drove my testosterone up, natural test booster.
