They don’t necessarily feel like a collective; rather, they see themselves as American-just as any white American would. This is something Democrats have overlooked. By addressing individuals instead of grouping them together, you may find more common ground than expected.
Latinos see themselves as americans because they are. America is a continent not a country. Just as people from the US have roots in Europe, África and native nations, other cultures in south and central america as have them as well.

I’m a gay Latino man. One of the issues with courting Latinos is that there are a lot of subcultures and diversity within Latin Americans. Just because you get an actor of Mexican descent doesn’t mean Cubans, Porto Ricans and South Americans will identify with the character. It’s complicated
For Hispanic Americans it’s not necessarily about having representation. It’s more about giving more Hispanic Americans the opportunity to have more and more star roles in movies simply representing an average American and not a Hispanic American.

I don't think that's fair about what she said about Zachary Levi. The guy probably did some searching and realized the left wing is why the DC movies flopped so badly. And in turn are directly responsible for messing up his career...not him. The left has destroyed almost every pop culture franchise and she kinda cheered them on as they did. They have put out some of the most hateful and vile content. Levi had a spicy take but I think Hollywood needs to understand that they are the feather rufflers. The proper response from Hollywood would be to ASK for the Pratt take and understand the Levi one then try not to dictate how people should respond to their terrible attitudes. It's been a very long time... years of it.
You still dont get it.... If youre scared of "mean words" being said at MSG ( im puerto rican btw) then Youre still not understanding WHY you couldn't see outside your bubble
Listen to Ricky Gervais. Celebrities should not educate people about the real world. They know nothing of it. I am so disappointed of the avengers cast doing that cringe video.
It’s cuz Chris Pratt has NEVER said or done anything problematic. People assume because of his church or political beliefs. People have assumed he feels this way and that way
Tulsi Gabbard is an example of a strong woman with intelligence, integrity, and military service who doesn't cackle after repeating her talking points for the umpteenth time.
It just speaks to the massive ego of celebrities. On one hand they want to be left alone, and on the other hand they desperately crave praise. I support American’s rights to speak freely and support who they want to support but I don’t need to know who Mark Ruffalo supports for president. There’s no privacy anymore. I miss the days when celebrities and athletes kept their politics to themselves. Some of the things they did during this campaign were so disingenuous and cringe and they came out looking like donkeys.
Um... those days never existed bud. Every since there's been a newspaper or any sort of media _some_ celebs have been political. Hell... they've even been active since the days of Rome as writings we can still find on the walls today. Not trying to one up ya, but it's always kinda been a thang, but I get what you're saying.
@MrDrasen23 so you were happy with phase 1 Marvel that only focused on str8 ⚪️ people? When Elon made Twitter less restrictive, people said it got taken over by right wingers - no, it just allowed everyone to talk, and it turns out a lot of people are right leaning.
You should court Americans. Not specific groups. That is the main issue with current movies. When directors chase specific groups, it never seems to be done right - the characters are poorly written or caricatures. Then those groups get upset. Versus writing a great character who happens to be a racialized person.
If you aren't isolated in New England or the West Coast, this was not a big surprise. What you saw was a country that decided you need strong borders, a strong economy, and strong foreign policy to have a strong country. Not what pronouns to use, quotas, or what your feelings are.
Not going to happen. Our two party system is the problem. Now that Trump is President again, he'll do all he can to improve the lives of Americans and America as a whole but (D)'s will fight it tooth and nail and when they do, that should tell everyone something about them. They don't want to improve your life. They had 4 years to do that and didn't.

I was really surprised to see J.Lo to show up to publicly support Harris. Isn't she in legal trouble in connection to P. Diddy? The entertainers really need to stay out of politcs. "Imagine" was mocked, "I take responsibility" was mocked, Disney managed to start a serious discussion about Chinese concentration camps and western complicity in them by filming Mulan near a concentration camp. People really wanted to stick it to the snooty, preachy mouse and now we have the situation with P. Diddy.
In 2016 they didn't know what they were voting for. In 2024 they did. When people tell you who they are believe them … and the majority of Americans are giving the rest of us in the world a very clear picture of who Americans are.
Representation’ has never been necessary for the industry to function before nor is it a consideration in global media industries; audiences pay to be entertained by stories and not as a gesture to reward seeing themselves on screen. Hollywood needs to stop trying to manipulate audiences and instead prioritise making films worth seeing again.
The reason people voted they way they did has to do with the economy. Americans keep seeing everything through the culture war lens as if that is not ultimately a distant concern for most people.
Thanks for the stream Grace. As a non-American outsider looking into all this, I just wanted to make a few points: • *Entertainment Tribalism* - The USA seems to put too much emphasis on _dichotomies_ and not unity: winning vs. losing, left vs. right, us vs. them, etc. For a country with "united" in it's name, that's very ironic. The USA treats it's politics like team sporting events or reality-tv competition entertainment, complete with celebrity product endorsements. This needs to STOP. • *Education* - Hopefully this teaches Americans the importance of proper education so that future voters are better informed. Hollywood movies and sensationalized tv shows are *not* where Americans should be getting their information. • *Global Influence* - I really wish American politics aren't so prolific with influencing other countries' politics but that's not the reality. That's why many people around the globe do blame Americans in part because of the influence and reach of their politics in the world. Just look at the Ukraine-Russia and Israel-Palestine wars, the USA is front-and-center in both. Hopefully all you Americans, from both sides, will reflect on this for the next 4 years and remember the lessons learned, reach out to one another in understanding, and come forward as a UNITED country.
You’re woefully uninformed if you think this election means Americans will focus more on education ever since desegregation schools have been defunded year after year that’s the whole point
I actually respect Grace for this video. She is still unwilling to reject the media narrative about who Trump is and she seems to be holding onto the racist/sexist narrative but she is willing to analyze things without screaming or crying.

And people have nothing against natural diversity, they just don’t like to look at media preaching to them, treat them like children and let ideology take center stage.
I'm also very surprised that ethnic minorities are lumped together with other Liberal minorities. From my experience I think that a lot of ethnicities have very "Conservative" view points but haven't been catered for.

Thanks for the stream Grace. As a non-American outsider looking into all this, I just wanted to make a few points:
• *Entertainment Tribalism* - The USA seems to put too much emphasis on _dichotomies_ and not unity: winning vs. losing, left vs. right, us vs.

Thank you for a great discussion. I am realizing the same sentiments. Being in an echo chamber has contributed to people being shocked and so on. I need to re-evaluate that about myself.
“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.” - James Baldwin
Yup. We've been telling you for years that this progressive push to be inclusive doesn't represent us. We just want good stories with good characters.
Inclusivity doesn’t represent America? Dawg can you reread what you just wrote. We’re a fucking melting pot of cultures and our media should represent that.
@@mabusestestament most of the time the preaching is more about marketing and celebrities endorsement of diversity to sell tickets rather than the work itself
For some reason conservative are offended by this bc corporations making money = bad
@@mabusestestament That is exactly my point, but what did Hollywood do? They created this convoluted set of ratios and rules to insure every movie to be considered for an a Oscar, or TV show an Emmy meets arbitrary diversity goals. Meritocracy is the way to go, not forced diversity..
Also, Kamala's choice to have so many rich celebrity appeareances at her rallies was this a good idea? Do the likes of JLO, Oprah still have the same appeal they had 20 years ago? They can also come across as being out of touch on issues like cost of living, immigration and crime, given they often have several mansions in gated communites or far from the inner cities. Yes trump had the likes of Musk and Hogan too, but democrats are supposed to have the image of fighting for the working class and i think it reflects worse of them
Didn’t JLO get exposed as being detached?
You can make this argument and be ok with Elon Musk campaigning for Trump and single handedly funding the entire campaign whole Thiel handpicked his VP. Their power should scare you.
Nope, celebrities need to stop giving endorsements and talking like mad dogs. They are so detached from the rest of the country.
@@ssshar2176 Why should it scare me?
@@TheMeanArenaBecause when you mix Business with Politics you have corruption. Simple.
Much like some Hollywood franchises want to ditch their old fans and replace them, one party ditched the working class and union vote hoping to replace their numbers with others…. and failed
More like LBGQT+ is what they want to replace is us with. Catering to them and ditching us the longtime fans.
Thanks a million for this stream, Grace. I appreciate your in-depth look at all this from all angles. And it being done in a fair way.
I've been waiting years to see this video from Grace.
“Don’t let anyone take your joy from you”, this is why I’ve been watching you for years. ❤
As a centrist (attack me if you would like) I really appreciate Grace's takes. Been a fan of hers for a over a decade and she has just never been afraid to say things how they are or she sees them and I admire her.
News sources are suppsed to lay out the facts. Celebrities are supposed to entertain us. People have been saying these things for years. People have finally had enough.
They got carried away with the representation politics.
As a gay latino man I truly don't care about that, I grow up with telenovelas from Mexico/Brazil, Hollywood content, Asian content... and enjoyed! Never felt the need to "see me"...
I'm very happy with Trump's win.
Even when your group will be an target soon by the same man?
Refreshing to hear your open-eyed realism. Keep up the good work. One thing: The audience is not beholden to support anything. They watch or not watch, but no moral responsibility or imperative to do so.
