- Today I'm reacting, critiquing, and analyzing The Gentlemen outfits in Episode 2 of Film Fashion Critique: We're going through the most of the film (extended version of this on my Patreon) as there are so many brilliant examples of outfits from The Gentlemen, which I consider to be the most fashionable film I've ever watched. I agree with that statement. I admire The effort put into all the aspects of making these videos, known and unknown. It's not easy. Scripting, voicing, acting, recording, editing (did I miss something?). This guy is talented and skilled. How is this channel not 1m beats me. Don't give this up though. Your take on sartorialism is unique and appreciated.

Hey Demetrios,
I noticed that you needed to push your glasses back up due to them slipping down. If you aren't aware, acetate is malleable under contact with high heat. You should be able to prevent the glasses from slipping by heating up the temple tips and bending them down more so they are better secured to the ear.
I have a pair of Persol sunglasses and the temple sections bowed out quite a bit, I was able to fix the issue by heating them up with a heat gun and bending them straight.

I'll try and save them as my nieces and nephew are always finding them and handling them as a toddler would lol my bro accidentally stepped on them as I had them on the ground measuring something so it might be time for a new pair haha! But still I'll definitely try that...thank you, bro!
Not to be over-analytic, but as an Englishman who doesn't dress too dissimilarly to McConaughey in this film, the word that you're looking for in relation to the tweed would be 'shooting' rather than 'hunting'. Hunting would be on horseback chasing foxes with hounds, whereas shooting is tweed and shotguns! Anyway, I'm absolutely loving your videos and your experience really does show, keep up the good work! O

I've been waiting soooo looong for a video like this one, glad I found it. Sad tho that THE outfit I was most interested in wasn't shown here, hopefully it is in the patreon version. Maybe I'll sign up once just for that. (Edit: forgot to mention the outfit; it's the one where Charlie Hunnam threatens the young rabble if he doesn't get the phone. The one with the cool blue trench coat-ish thing. If you cover that one too please tell me I'll sign up for the patreon)
Anyway, some other movies you could review;
-I'm aware that this channel is menswear but since you mentioned Sonya Glyn I was reminded of the antagonist in "A Simple Favor", maybe you could do a shorter video about her style
-"I Care a Lot" would also be in line with the above, "Cruella", "Atomic Blonde" and "Last Night in Soho" as well
-"Café Society" has very very beautiful cinematography, great cast and amazing 1920s outfits
-"Knives Out" is my next favored movie to "The Gentlemen", has some extravagant/ colourful outfits and Daniel Graig
-"Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood" also has some lovely esthetics
I really hope you do one of those next!!
(Compared to similar videos I think yours are way better because you not only know your stuff better but you can actually also recommend the closest clothes you can buy in RL)

The is my all time favourite film of the past 5ish years. Your insight on the real vs fake mane and Micky's grey suit was a great point. The subtle attention to detail is perfect and every time I rewatch the film I pick up a few things.
Also liking your yellow tint glasses. I recently picked up some yellow tint acetate aviator style glasses and so many people have complimented them which is fun. I look like a Miami drug dealer now
Awesome video. Not a lot of people appreciate the details in wardrobe. Charlie Hunams character, to me brought out class in his otherwise "servant" position. As if he knew he was "blue collared" but didn't need to be dressed as a schmuck. He walked and dressed with pride, and with the versatility of getting work done. Demetrius, your description of the wife was spot on. Not sure if you know, but in the Balkan region this over-the-top style is known as "seljak", which is pronounced "sell-yak". It's like the Bosnians version of the "Guido". Expensive but cheesy. People that embrace this style are called Turbo-folk.

I'm loving this video!! Bravo! Now that the Netflix series is out you should do another. I think it's even more inspiring for fashion and way more fun than the original movie.
I will say this, Collin Farrell has an amazing haircut and style as Coach. I love that sorta faded sides quiff style, and it suits his salt and pepper hair.
Collin has rapidly become one of my favorite actors in recent years, he's got such a magnificent range and always delivers such a captivating performance.

I recently bought the Persol PO3265-V in black with gold finishing and on my 3rd day wearing them a stranger called them the most beautiful glasses that she had even seen. Until then I never once received a compliment on my glasses and I've been wearing glasses since I was in first grade 18 years ago. It is absolutely crazy to me that the first compliment on my glasses was the compliment to end all compliments.

I’ve seen other style reviews of this film and they were shallow, uninteresting and had no depth, I was expecting this to be pretty amateur because of the view count- but this is a fantastic analysis of the film, told me everything I wanted to know and a lot that never occurred to me. A bit late but the reason the tracksuit might’ve been tight is because European sizing is smaller than American sizing, so you probably got one size smaller than you thought
Hi Demetrios, I was wondering about you measurements. I´m thinking of the tracksuit. I´m 178cm (5.8ft) and around 74kg (163lb). My suit size is 48R .... I´m thinking of getting a size M, however, I found comments about rather sizing down...what would you recommend, since you have the M? Thanks. Love your videos :)

I'm 178cm as well and about 83kg with a suit size of 48/50R. I feel like honestly a M will fit you better only because you're then same size as me on the chest but weigh less so I'm assuming your let's aren't gonna be as big as mine, and the legs are kinda tight on me so they'll be looser on you; probably perfect, honestly. I recommend the medium!

What’s your takeaway for someone looking to build a wardrobe around the casual English style in this film? I want good quality without paying hundreds of dollars for a single piece
regarding the earring in his left ear. I never noticed this! It is probably a nod to a 70s/80s misconception/myth that drug-dealers used a single earring in their left ear as a sign of recognition (if it was in their right ear it was a inside sign of recognition among gays). Complete fantasy without any basis in reality of course, but back then it was something many actually believed to be true. Nice touch by Guy Richie, actually.

Hi, let me just pitch in and nerd out about the wife’s clothing details from a woman’s point of view.
She’s dressed in very trendy (for that time period) in high profile designer brands, giving her a very nouveau rich vibe, very loud new money, trying hard to look classy but a bit too loud.
Let’s start off with the obvious; the shoes. Sky high Louboutins, recognizable by their red bottoms. This particular design could be the So Kate 12 but I’m not 100% sure.
Her blazer is from Balmain, the ultra sharp shoulders are signature style elements in Balmain’s designs. The zipper on the back is what makes this piece a trend piece and not a classic. It gives off an edgy vibe which, suits the character in this context.
Now here’s the fun part, the handbag. It surprised me because looking at the character and her background, I fully expected her to carry a Birkin, or maybe a Chanel, but instead she totes around a Mulberry Bayswater. It’s so understated compared to the rest of her wardrobe. It’s quiet luxury. Mulberry is a British heritage brand, known for understated designs and excellent quality. Very luxurious but not as loud and obnoxious as Hermes or Chanel.

I would argue that Mickey’s wife’s looks are somewhat over the top because she is compensating for her cockney background. Considering she makes a lot of money and is within ‘noble’ circles in the UK, being cockney would be looked down upon and out of the norm. Therefore, she over dresses to show power and weatlh
