My buddy Jay on Sci-Trek, says that Disney are REALLY UNHAPPY with the initial viewing figures on Disney +. Disney don't release their figures, however, Jay is hearing that Disney want to sack Russell T Davies. They have already funded the next season (which is still being filmed) and co-produced with Bad Wolf Studios, but it ain't looking good folks!

Jay is my buddy too! I had a nice conversation with him last night. I'm not surprised especially considering the rumour coming out of Disney that the overnight numbers for last week are in the low 50 thousands. I wish they would release the numbers so we can see them! If the rumour is even close to the truth, well Russell and Ncuti will both have to go! I'm going to wait for the official news to release!

Yeah, its not even got into any streaming charts, or Disney's own top 10 charts.

I hope that this is the end for Davies, the most overhyped and overrated writer in the show's history!

I still love the Doctor Who stories, but now I listen to the Big Finish audiobooks.

Yes, a lot of them are very good, especially the stories with pre 2005 Doctors

They are a cause for concern. Comparing to current UK TV it's steady but compared to the consolidated figure of Church On Ruby Road they are alarming.
The millions who watched at Xmas just didn’t come back for Ncuti's full series debut.
The time of year is also fascinating because the revival of "Gladiators" in Jan was a huge hit on BBC One in a similar time-slot with it's opening episode at 8.7 Million & ending on 5.39 Milion (7 day consolidated) in late March.
Hopefully we dont see too much more of a drop-off til June 22nd but it's undeniably disappointing that Doctor Who did not get a great boost for Ncuti & RTD from the start
I think it's no longer mainstream (not been for awhile) & has now bottomed out between 3.5 - 4 Million viewers within the UK & there is little to stop it.
Having a popular actor from a netflix series you'd have hoped it would bring some fans over but it's the same as Hollywood.
People no longer watch films just because they like the actor, years ago that was the total opposite 🤔
Some pirate it & that's perhaps a bigger concern than I thought & some are so fixed on binging they are waiting for the series to end first.
The 28 day consolidated figures will also be of interest too. Lets face it every view will be counted from series end to "Joy To The World" & if it doesn't make Nielsen lists only Disney will know.
Doctor Who still makes money for BBC Studios at home and abroad.
Doctor Who's 2 day return to The Proms in August sold out in a few hours last week & Ncuti's first finale will be screened in UK cinemas on June 21st (I got my tickets yesterday)

And take away those who watched as a "disaster watch" after listening to the "you wont believe how bad it was" reviews - and the figures are worse.

People keep talking about “hate watchers” of these failing shows. I don’t believe that a significant number of people are doing that. We’ve checked out completely and don’t have time to waste in setting just how bad it is. IMO

@@davidphilips4736 Yes, possibly. I "disaster watched" myself - but I am possibly not an average viewer.

RATINGS always matter regardless! How else do you know how successful a movie or show is. People that don't care about the ratings, DON'T watch them!

Really? Because RadioTimes claims they do...
Also, the final 7-day figures include those early views on iPlayer, so it's not like they were excluded.

Only 300,000 watched episode 1 on iPlayer over the 1st 7 days. Only 240,000 watched episode 2.
