Many could overlook the dodgy background CGI, the cheap looking sets, the interior TARDIS looking like a nightclub toilet, the hammy acting, the fake cheerfulness, a black dancing Dr, IF the scripts and stories were well written and executed, but it appears as if they've gone with first drafts and first take with NO form of quality control apart from if it gives RTD wood.
I like the TARDIS and don't care that much about FX.
I DO care about the stories, acting, characters etc..its all shite

It's a lot like the beginning of the Whittaker era; people are pretending this is good because they don't want to be seen as criticising the show for the wrong reasons, so they're engaging in some truly epic doublethink to defend something they know is objectively pretty bad. That nearly killed the show off, when some constructive criticism *may* have made Chibnall realise he was on the wrong track, although like Davies, he seems on the egocentric side. This will probably be the finish of it.
You can't offend a fanbase to this degree and ever get them back under the same showrunner.
If the Numbers were good Disney would have trumpeted them as soon as the show end. Like they did with AShoka.
Doomcock reported a rumour (and that's all it is) that the Disney numbers were around 50,000 for the first week.

Well, no surprise, Will. Streaming numbers generally don’t matter. They boost a few thousand, but still reflect overall trends. The trends for Disney Who remain lowest in the franchise 60 year history. And this doesn’t factor in the larger population. The strident woke tone of the show directly reflects the impassioned fan rejection of the show. To make matters worse, RTD feels this is good. He actually said that! #RIP Doctor Who…

It breaks my heart what has become of a show I have loved since the early 70's. It is time to rest it again and come back with a showrunner and star who care about the fans but above all about good storytelling not messaging.
I've already had one stunning and brave "fan" tell me ratings and quality are not the same thing. That's fine but if the product being offered is of low or even sub-standard quality, no will want it.
It's the morning of 21 May in the UK and still no sign of those 7-day iplayer numbers. Whatever could be causing this delay? As far as I'm aware these streaming numbers come directly from the BBC rather than being independently measured. Unlike BARB broadcast figures. Neither does the BBC permit external scrutiny prior to publication; they can basically say whatever they wish. But if they lie too heavily, before long, a whistle-blower will spill the beans on any slight of hand. I hope.
Remember how long it took to reveal the iplayer numbers for TCORR? Shows broadcast afterwards had their numbers published well in advance of DW. The BBC then tried to disguise the ratings by talking about the fantastic streaming figures over Christmas for DW before having to clarify this was the entirety of the available show from 1963 onwards. Then they released the "special" numbers fudged with the"+4 screens" data, which is mostly meaningless in my opinion.
The only reason I got Disney+ was to watch Doctor Who. I Canceled at the beginning of the season. RTD what a disappointment

I remember the original(yes in reruns. I'm a 67er) but mainly I remember Baker and Pertwee. The doctor was quirky and unconventional not because he was allied with any human earth ideology nor emotions linked to being from earth, but because he was from another planet/culture etc. He was odd yet a font of knowledge. Science was a huge part, as was good triumphing over evil and the strive for good to pervail on the quest for conscious universal evolution. It was about fun, quirkiness and aiming to get better. Now? It is about sexual preferences. Evolution? The Doctor would be dismayed

Did we occasionally get a lecture? Sure. But most of the time it was about the story, not the message.
I watched some shorts of the old Dr.Who and I cried as a fan. The Doctor was so,so,so great and the stories were awesome. There was no DEI and wokeness ideology shoved down your throat. All the characters, stories, and themes blended together so easily, and no one noticed because we were all entertained.
It's like watching a teenager rebel against his parents I don't need you, I can do anything I want, I 'm a grown up now, and then getting really
stroppy when said parents won't pay for the anything he wants to do!

So sad about the cat. I look after a number of strays and it's terribly sad when something happens to them. Hopefully another will soon adopt you.
I'm a bit suspicious about the IPlayer numbers. Anyone who usually watches the show on TV will normally only use the IPlayer if they have missed the show. I don't see them suddenly going 100% IPlayer just because they can watch it at midnight. It is, after all, considered a catch-up option.
Thanks, it's alright really, I already have a cat I adopted as a kitten...Carly showed up a month or so ago and I tried to give her some much needed nourishment, but unfortunately she was already suffering from a lot of problems and she passed earlier. We were all really sad

There was a Star Trek TOS episode with Terry Garr that had an alien on earth who was remarkably like The Doctor. Perhaps someone could pick up on that make it work going forward?

The 7 day figures are in... Each episode gained about one and a half million views on iPlayer over 7 days. Not that impressive. And, as expected, lower than most of Whittaker's episodes. LMFAO.

I am one of the few that watch on iPlayer. I have to do this as if I put it on the TV it would p off my wife. I remember sitting down as a family ,Dr who used to be the show.
Now I need to watch it on my phone on the toilet with headphones. As a lifelong Dr fan it is getting really hard to just bare it. I miss loving it so much that I would rewatch an ep every day waiting for the next exciting installment :(

100% agree about the British aspect of being slow to change patterns. Always enjoyed watching doctor who on Saturday night right up to the end of capaldi era. After that, the show died for me, iPlayer for the old episodes, that’s about it
been 'touching grass' since Peter Capaldi. Honestly Jodi was shafted from a writing perspective.......it could easily have been done.....but she wasnt even the focus of her own run. Instead she is overshadowed by probably the largest cast of Companions EVER. 2.....3 is pushing it. ideallly you have 1 constant companion and a time-relevant 'guide' (someone around for the episode/arc specifically.....adding stakes)
The poor PR responses post Capaldi cemented my lack of desire to keep up.......If not for Tennant being a part of the Bi-regeneration i wouldnt have even heard of this Gatwalla guy
Edit: wanna be clear i quite liked Capaldi but Tennant is my favorite, even Capaldi era was starting to show its cracks
I liked Capaldi. Poor Jody. "I can't do this" is a horrible catch phrase. Her Doctor wandered around looking confused and overwhelmed most of the time.

Is this why they filmed 2 seasons pretty much back to back before releasing any episodes, because they knew that once out there everybody would hate it and the possibility of a renewal would be slim at best. Looks like the 7+4-Screen figures came in at 4.01m and 3.91m (not in for Boom yet obviously). So the +7 is down about 1-1.5m from Whittaker's era, but stayed fairly constant across the two episodes.
4m is still more than I'd have expected for those two episodes of the squits.
So where are the streaming and iplayer ratings?

The pre-transmission views for Boom on iPlayer was, wait for it...78,000, after Space Babies last week achieved 140,000 pre-BBC transmission and 130,000 for Devil's Chord.

As a proud member of the hateful, bigoted, and sexist/mysoginistic EX-fans, may I say thank you for saving me from hate-watching this tripe. Although I did watch Moffatt's one and ONLY episode and it was...mediocre at best. Calling it the best of the worst, but that's not saying much.
As a us Doctor Who fan I voted by refusing to watch, I've also refused to buy the Blu rays for the remaining bits of my collection in case that helps them. Would watching the seasons I like on HBO help RTD and his team continue to piss on the fans?

The article is a little outdated - BARB now includes Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, RUclips, Twitch, Amazon Prime, etc in their +7-4 figures. Basically, the +7-4 figures are any views the episode received outside of it's live broadcast on BBC1, within 7 days of said broadcast.

Well Carly was a stray who visited us and my cat didn't mind her, but she was very skinny and frail and not long for this world. I was able to give her some comfort before she passed today. Thank you though

You can have diverse characters in entertainment media. It just has to feel natural and not put in to check a diversity box. A lot can be communicated by allegory.
