    Sutekh's presence would've been detected & purged the moment the Tardis landed on Galifrey in Deadly Assassin.

      I mean, the Time Lords in Classic Who kind of got more and more incompetent with each subsequent appearance. Keep in mind they almost got conquered by the Sontarans once.

    No amount of bs they claim will make this ok.
    He was trapped in the time vortex and lived by hanging onto the Tardis. Except he was trapped in a time corridor, and aged to unalive. The 4th Doctor literally says that!!

    So suthek was hanging on to the tardis since 1975 I have a few questions :
    1. The deadly assassin, The invasion of time , the five doctors (he had a chance to get all of the doctors former selves in one go ) . The doctor returned to Gallifrey why didn't Suthek destroy the time lords while he was there?
    2. In frontios the tardis was torn apart did Suthek go for a stroll and a cup of tea while the tardis was put back together?
    3. In the mark of the rani the tardis was thrown down a mine shaft surely that would have woken him up
    4. When captain Jack clung on the tardis the tardis went to the edge of time to try and shake him off wouldn't the tardis try and shake suthek off
    5. When the doctor returned to gallifrey surely the time lords would have spotted suthek.
    6. The tardis was thrown into a inferno the heat from that would have alerted suhtek
    7. The tardis appeared in human form and would surely tell the doctor about suthek clinging to the tardis .
    8. how did suthek jump from doctor 14's tardis to shitty's

      Not to mention Amy having to remember the Doctor and the TARDIS back to reality after the universal reboot... How did Sutekh come back? He was only hanging on to the exterior of the TARDIS, not an actual part of it. The TARDIS which for a period of time didn't actually exist.

    The most upsetting thing is that Gabriel Woolf was clearly putting his heart and soul into it. With every single line that he delivered, you can tell that he CARED. This will most likely be the last time he ever plays Sutekh. It's the role he will be remembered for when he dies. And Retarded Trash Dildo completely fucked it up for him.
    There's a video on RUclips that isolates all of Sutekh's voice clips. Without the context of the episodes being terrible, you can actually enjoy Woolf's performance. The man's voice oozed menace and charisma, sounding like a genuinely powerful and ancient deity even when he was delivering cliches.
    Gabriel Woolf should have left on a high note after voicing Satan in The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit. Those episodes gave him a banger of a villain and story to work with. They showed how to respect an actor from the Classic Era.

      It's nonsense from beginning to end. The simple matter is, no matter what they say, Sutekh could never have been there even if there were all these masterplan hints and foreshadowing. Which there wasn't, it's just drivel.

    I still maintain that in classic _Who_ the bloody Toymaker outranked Sutekh in power and capabilities; ultimately Sutekh was just a mortal alien Osiran / Osirian. The Toymaker was literally a ‘god’ along with Fenric, The Great Old Ones, The Gods of Ragnarok and the Mara. Sutekh was basically ‘only’ just as powerful as a corporeal entity could get but absolutely cannot be considered a Toymaker-tier entity. Even disembodied entities like The Great Intelligence outranked him.

    Just to set (no pun intended) the record straight on Set's appearance. It was Anubis who had the head of what was purely a Jackal (which was what was incorrectly displayed in Empire of Death). Set on the other hand appears to have the head of a non-existent chimeric creature.
    "In art, Set is usually depicted as an enigmatic creature referred to by Egyptologists as the Set animal, a beast not identified with any known animal, although it could be seen as resembling an aardvark, an African wild dog, a donkey, a hyena, a jackal, a pig, an antelope, a giraffe, or a fennec fox." While internet searches reveal the Set animal to have something similar to a dog, hyena, jackal-like body, the head most definitely resembles an aardvark with its squared ears and curved elongated snout.
    The visuals for Sutekh in Pyramids of Mars were actually FAR closer to the correct appearance of Set.
    He is absolutely NOT a traditional domesticated dog of ANY breed, so his method of defeat, a leash and a dog whistle, makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. This is not only incredibly lazy writing, but shows a lack of research and a total disregard for the 'real life' inspiration for the character.
    But what else can you expect from a writer who doesn't know what an anagram is...

  • @lesigh1749
    @lesigh1749 Месяц назад +2

    Sutekh didn't "return" in Doctor Who. The thing they called Sutekh bore no similarity to the one from Pyramids of Mars beyond sharing the same name and the original voice actor.

  • @Farsight-nc1ib
    @Farsight-nc1ib Месяц назад +4

    Sutekh was never in the Vortex. It's stated in Pyramids he was in a Time Corridor, they are two separate things. If you want another example, the Time Corridor in Resurrection of the Daleks proves it and the Vortex aren't the same, as the human prisoners were able to escape down it without harm. Therefore the Screen Rant theory is null and void. QED.

    Its bullshit.
    The whole Sutekh revival idea was crap anyway. They keep on going back to the classic era for ideas because they don't have the imagination to create something new. Lets just fuck around with somebody else's genuinely great idea from 50 - 60 odd years ago and screw it up. Look at that Timeless Child crap - unable to actually come up with anything ingenious they just fuck with something that has been perfectly acceptable since the word go and crap all over it for no reason, other than they can.
    I wasn't a fan of the Davison era at the time, but recently re-watched Series 19 - 21 and on the whole its a gazillion times better than anything delivered by RTD - in either his 1st or 2nd stint - and I'm still not a huge fan of the Davison era!
    These agenda driven apologists for RTD2 should just be ignored in my opinion. They're never going to alter my opinion, so bollocks to them.

    I don't think they understand what foreshadowing is because it's not something that happens as part of the reveal (Sue Tech)nor is it the title of an episode after the reveal. The only one that may be vaguely foreshadowing would be the dog song but that's a stretch because, as you say, he didn't look like a dog originally, and jackals don't really look like dogs. Mind you he looked more like a donkey in the show.
    It's seriously reaching on something that makes no sense within the show's canon

      That version clearly established the Fob Watch and what it could do. It wasn't a throwaway clue, the Fob Watch was vital to Human Nature and The Family of Blood, so it was more than just a setup. Plus, it emphasizing Martha's observational skills by having her be the first to notice it was the same watch.
      Paul Cornell saved Retarded Trash Dildo's arse with that. Dildo has no idea how to do setup and payoff - he's always standing on the shoulders of more talented writers (except Midnight which I'll reluctantly but sincerely give him full credit for, even though I'd love that episode more if it was written by Steven Moffat) - but Cornell smoothed out the transition with the 2-parter of David Tennant being a human.
