I Stayed in a Hmong Village Sa Pa Mountains 🇻🇳

  • ■ SA PA, VIETNAM: As I stepped off my bus upon arriving in Sa Pa town yesterday I ran into a Hmong woman by the name of Mama Zee who said she runs a home stay in a tiered rice field in the mountains about 4 hours walk from town. I took her contact details and the next day we journeyed through villages and mountain paths to her family home.
Going to the bus station on a daily to find tourists who wants to stay at her Sa Pa Homestay is a time consuming and more often than not futile endeavour. Let's help her grow her social media presence so she can find foreign trekkers and homestay guests more efficiently.

I honestly thought you were about to fall into a tourist trap when you met her at the bus station and I was so wrong. All she wanted was to show you her village and their way of life which is truely beautiful and magic. What a place and so alive. Nature, animals everywhere and all the people are so friendly. They are really living their best life up there. I hope you visit her again some day!

Yep, it's a pretty well known saying not to trust anyone that walks up to you on the street but this just shows how that (not necessarily unwise) pessimism can often lead to you missing out on incredible experiences in life. There's no scam or ill-will involved, just a genuine human being trying to make a living for their family.

    • @icanthearyoufool

We can all learn from Harald, always give people a chance until they prove otherwise. You can ask about the price in advance and try for a couple days. If you are not happy then stop. For people from small town, there is not many ways to advertise their business, and the best way is to talk to potential customers like she did. Harald is really nice because he doesn’t judge people when he first meets them!!

Ethiopian Bible. It just makes one think a little bigger of how just how big our God is. I’m not saying I agree with all the older stuff. Just like we as Christian’s don’t follow everything in the Bible. But it broadens your mind and pulls you deeper to your own connection with what you believe who God is. I don't understand how people can be offended of true village life. Where all the animals have a quality life, way better than the misfortunate once ending up on our supermarket shelves. Also hemp is used all across Europe and the US for all kinds of products besides smoking. What's the difference? This sort of forced sterile environment on here is just so artificial it sucks out all the interesting fun parts. Anyway, keep going and don't give up 🙏💪❤

I appreciate that Harald stuck with the "Homestay" he signed up for instead of the fully built upgraded stay kindly offer by the extended family. It's an organic experience. #mamazee

I wondered what was wrong with the video, it had blurry parts, and when I read comments thanking you for reuploading, I though you were doing it for extra $exposure$, I never read your pinned comment that explains it all. Thanks for reuploading, it is quite enjoyable to watch!

Jesus , Harald . You've once again leveled up in production quality my Northern friend . This is reminding me of the quality of your adventures in Mexico with the Korean shower head noodle guy . Bravo , Sir .

I went to Sapa in 1993 and went walking down by the river with a friend. We met a couple of young Hmong women, one with a baby on her beck. We spent about an hour there looking at each other. I had an English to Vietnamese dictionary but we couldn't use it as they didn't even speak Vietnamese. It was a weird situation. We were on a small foot bridge going across the river. I was talking to my friend about them and they were talking to each other about us. It was all very friendly and eventually we said goodbye. It's a good memory and I still have some (old style) photos somewhere.

Never comment usually on your videos. But I’m a big fan. I enjoy travelling through you. It’s a great way to unwind after a day’s work.
So I’m commenting to help get this video some traction it may miss out on, because of the issues you laid out.
Go well, Harald and Mama Zee!
Edit: also, because you’ve explained how the algorithm works and how comments and likes help, I’ll be commenting more on your videos!

I’m enjoying the beautiful landscape plus the interactions between this two , I can understand half of the things she is saying but Harald gets her 😂I like how this guy visits a country but goes to the less touristy places and makes genuine connections with the locals and gives them a chance to tell their stories.I know Mama zee will get a lot of customer after this .
