Hi, I’m a fairly new Christ follower and I love to read. I needed to “clean up” my book selections and your channel has been helping. Plus all the comments with book suggestions. Thank you. I now have a list and I’m excited.
I agree. Redeeming Love is awesome. Francine Rivers actually wrote this book many many years ago (1991 edition), before she was a Christian, and it had very explicit sex scenes. After coming to Christ, she edited it, took out all that, and it has been rereleased many times through the years. It’s much better in the edited edition.
I am on a journey with God. I made up my mind to read only clean books since the beginning of 2021 and you are an inspiration and blessing. You have no idea of how much your videos have aided my spiritual growth. God bless you. 🙏🏾
I have read Redeeming Love every October for about the past 10 years and I never get sick of it! Unfortunately, that book has ruined me because I have yet to read another one that can compare to it other than the Mark of the Lions trilogy. Francine Rivers is beyond talented! I definitely want to check out Long way Gone and My Stubborn Heart. Thank you for all the great recommendations Oceana 🙂
This was a great video. I loved the details and I could see how much you really enjoyed these books. Now I'm putting them on my list to read. Thank you so much for sharing your heart. ❤
I totally agree. God often uses fiction to express a lesson that He's been trying to show me. I loved these recommendations and have a few books I want to add to my TBR.
When I read Redeeming Love, I didn't realize how much I was holding my breath until part way through the book, I suddenly bawled and bawled. A most excellent book!
Thanks for sharing, Oceana! I really enjoy your content like this. It provides me with many useful ideas about what to read next. (I hope & 🙏 your teaching is moving forward well. Thank you for serving faithful ly during this unusual/difficult season)! You are a bright light for Jesus.💐💯
I've only read the Shack, but I want to thank you for your heartfelt review of these books. It's so refreshing to see people talking about fiction, and how God can speak to them through that. It is in my heart to write Christian fiction, in such a way that you described. To show people that God wants to speak personally because He loves having a close relationship more than anything else. Thank you so much for your encouraging reviews.
I haven’t brought myself to read Redeeming Love. I have wanted to for years but I know it has some hard parts to read through. I’m not sure if my mama heart can take it. The same with the Shack! I will put Catching Christmas on my list, I was looking for a good book to read. Thank you for your pure content and being yourself! I appreciate your channel! Your book interests are the same kind of books I enjoy. So thank you!
So thankful for your channel pointing out Francine’s other books! I’ve read the Atonement Child and, of course, Redeeming Love, also the novellas but had only started some of the others long ago. It helps so much to have your reviews on these books! I’m already looking for them on audio to listen with the kids on our weekly commutes ! Can you recommend any fiction Christian books for kids please? Young girls ages 7-10 or so, and young boys ages 9-13…? We have come across Chuck Black and my son read most of his that we know of, of course Chronicles of Narnia, LOTR, and my son has read a lot of classics also. He loves Percy Jackson and Timmy Failure, comic books, Jim Davis, Ursula of Vernon’s books, etc. I’m ALWAYS looking for more material for him that would be clean and inspiring. He has also completely read the Bible in 5 months reading 10 chapters per night. It is hard keeping enough in front of him and I’m always looking for suggestions. He has read a few of Ted Dekker’s as well. Any authors or books you can recommend for him would be most appreciated!!
I appreciate your comment a lot Jessica! I don't read a lot of middle grade or young adult books under Christian fiction, so I don't have a ton of recommendations for that age range. I will start paying more attention to this age group and compile a list as I read more. I do have some shelves on my goodreads that might hold some recommendations for you. It's always linked in my videos description!
Hi Oceana, This was such a good video! I have had and the Shofar Blew and the Mark of the Lion trilogy on my TBR forever and listening to you talk about them is encouraging me to read them soon. I’m currently reading Catching Christmas and I’m loving it!! Also I would love to see you do a Christmas book recommendation!
Loved this video! I’ve read most of these but not the Christmas one. I plan on getting this Christmas season. Thanks for the recommendations! P.S.- When I read “The Shack” many years ago, it grabbed my heart the same way and I’m pretty sure I cried my way through the ending. Then I heard all the commotion about it not being biblical and that crushed me. Still trying to process my way through that...
I understand your conflicting feelings about The Shack. I think if you found Jesus in it, and still go to the Bible for the truth, there's nothing wrong with liking The Shack in my opinion!
Most of the books on this list (5) I have already read and they have moved me and helped me with my faith. In different movies you have darker or lighter hair and I feel I need to express that in your case the same with light or dark hair you are beautiful and your greatest assets of a sharp mind, beautiful heart and soul no color can change😀.
I just this month read Redeeming Love & loved it so much!! I’ve heard about it for years & how much people love it, but now I understand 😍 it’s amazing!!!
Loved, loved, loved your review of "The Shack"! Have you seen the movie? It's been a long time since I've read the book, something I need to change soon. But the movie, oh my goodness! Thank you for sharing with us!
Have you ever come across any biblical fiction books on faithful men of the bible, such as Noah, Daniel, etc? Set in biblical times not modern please. Thank you!!
that's a tough one! I honestly don't think I have and also, I don't think I've even heard of books that follow the men of the old testament like that. I'll do some investigating and see if there's anythig good out there. I definitely want to expand my biblical fiction library!

I knew a bit of her story but I didn’t know she edited out the explicit scenes!

I've read all of those Francine Rivers books with a book club that I was in yrs ago. I agree that they are very moving & impactful💝
There's a couple of hers I still haven't read, but I'm excited to :)
@@OceanaGottaReadEmAll everything she has written I've enjoyed but there are a few of her books I haven't read yet either!!!

The Shack was amazing! I would say it spoke to me the most out of any book other than the Bible.
I feel similar. It helped my faith so much

I totally understand about Redeeming Love and The Shack. Both have violence against children which is hard to read.

Reread Redeeming Love after 8 years and it hit me just as hard this time as it did the first. Such a powerful story. Thanks for the recommendations. 💚
Looooooove Redeeming Love. There are trigger warnings, but it’s so good.

haha yes I know, my hair has been several different colours over the years! I'm planning on leaving it alone for a while now :)
Did you know that Redeeming Love was her first Christian genre book? As she was a secular romance writer before.
Yes! The way God redeemed her career is beautiful
LOVE THE SHACK. LOVE THE BOOK, LOVE THE MOVIE. Hits me in a new way EVERY. TIME.
