@@sarahf7990 I know what you mean but we don't know if the owners/occupants are old or infirm, when I was working in the building trade I used to clear up around older peoples yards without asking them, some jobs like that take 5 minutes when you're fit and able or have the correct tools to hand . Now I'm in my 60s and suffering with health issues even small tasks can be daunting.
Jetter 2 thank you for taking the time to show the memorial. Too many young people these days have no idea the sacrifices so many have made to give them their freedom....
So on that last job that you couldn't do . Do the home owners have to get the council and water board to do the job as the council should have the maps for the drains for that area Andy.
Thank you for that piece of history at the beginning. It’s a beautiful memorial. And you are so right. We need to enjoy what we have and be grateful. Like Drain unblocking videos. Lovely way to spend my Sunday with a cup of coffee and a good unblock. Thanks again
@@Supergers We don't know what was edited out. There's also hundreds of videos off all these guys going the extra mile to do the job well, including persisting on stuck drains. Great video Andy! Made me happy to see you using a Milwaukee Drill good job! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures! Bullet Bob from W. Texas 🤠🤠🤠👍👍😃😃😃❤️❤️❤️
Very satisfying, love the bit of history at the beginning, but the last job will keep me wondering how it’s going to get fixed? I would have loved to see what was going in in the manholes outside the property, or aren’t you allowed to lift those lids up?
It's amazing how "calm" the people there are, they leave everything in the middle, they don't clean the leaves,... thinking that the unblocking specialists are going to come, they should have more consideration for their work, 😔 seems bad to me. When there is some work in my house, we clear the way to facilitate work, you have to be considerate of the workers. Good job Andy👌 and a lot of patience that the whole team has in cleaning, you are great❣❣❣❣Abuela 🇪🇸.
It would be so much easier for everyone in your country if these drains had some markings to show direction of flow etc. Even if it was a painted mark on the bricks showing inlets and outlets.
I was just going to say the exact same thing :) Like a red marking for outlet, a green marking for inlet, with some lines hinting at the height from the bottom of the manhole. It would speed up the work flow tremendously
And don't get me started on why they don't have any markings on the hose! Six feet from the end, a green circle. Two feet from the end, a red circle. Then, splash!
I could watch you all work all day...I find it all so interesting...you should consider doing a live stream for us (I'm sure jem mentioned something about it before but I'm not 100% on that) great video as always well done andy
Thank you for showing us that memorial. It was really incredible. Those first several drains were pretty straight forward. That last drain was pretty stubborn, it's too bad you could only do so much. What a mess for those poor people to deal with, hopefully they get it fixed. Are there many jobs you can't resolve? And does council fix it now? Cheers 👍👍👍👍
In the UK older drain/manhole covers are rectangular and run in the direction of the drain, one way or another. Once you have cleared the drain the outlets that intercept (drains/manhloes are often referred to as intercepters) the main line at the bottom of the drain face the direction of flow, tradepersons who carry out drainage work know this as part of their skillset and make the job look easy.
Thanks Andy for showing us the memorial. Quite moving. On a lighter side, you should get a tour guide on the side on Liverpool. Have you been to The Cavern, where The Beatles used to play?
OH man, you digging through those leaves with your hands freaked me right the hell out. We have a snake that is called a copperhead here in the US (Texas for me specifically) that is venomous and would love to sit there hiding, and the name implies, would match that golden/copper color of those leaves and be practically invisible.
Our manhole covers are rectangular so you know the drain flows in the direction of the rectangle, one way or another. Once you clear the blockage the pipes that are in the bottom of the manhole point in the direction of flow, simple if you know your job.
A quick question? In Britain, do homeowners pay for water? And what is your etiquette for filling your tank with their water? Growing up in Michigan, we had plenty of water and never needed to think about it. But here in California, it’s clearly become a different deal entirely.
Yes, we pay for water. Historically, there was no water meter and you just paid some fixed amount for your property. Nowadays, water companies are keen to fit water meters and charge for your actual usage (mine was fitted in... 2019? but I'm in London, no idea what the water co around Liverpool does). So, it probably depends on whether you have a meter or not as to whether the homeowner would want you filling the tank from their supply!
@@johnsrabe that's a bit of a sore spot right now - since the 1990s, they are private companies, but with effective monopolies in a given region (e.g. Thames Water is the only company I can get my water from). I don't know if this makes the news outside the UK, but there has been a lot of problems with raw(ish) sewage being pumped into the sea, while the companies continue to make "bumper" profits.
