I was about to comment similarly. We don't need another "cover" that imitates Rush 80%. A new spin is refreshing. I like the jazzy versions of this song by Brad Mehldau and Alex Skolnick too - worth checking out.
@@MartinSchnella If I may...your guitar work is an incredibly creative reimagining of Alex's. On my seventh play and hearing new and inventive flourishes every time.
That rule as I learned it is actually when covering a song make it your own, if not you'd better damn well do it better than the original.
Agreed. I'm not interested in covers that don't include a new spin and this is fabulous! I'll enjoy listening to this often!

Ive been a Rush fan for over forty years, easily. I've listened to Tom Sawyer thousands of times. The original, the remstered, several live versions, and in concert. Rush has always been my favorite band.

Very difficult song to cover faithfully to the original because Rush was such a unique band, but you guys somehow found a way to pull it off. AWESOME.

I honestly didn’t think you could pull this off. I am a huge M&M fan since forever, but Rush? Rush is my #1 band, and I had my doubts. Should have known better. You pulled it off with your usual style and respect for the source material. I love it. Can’t wait to hear The Garden and Entre Nous.

Done exactly right. No riff sections were cut or dumbed down. Increased the sophistication level rather than a decrease. Added their own style in a way that shows self-respect, rather than self-parody. They did all of the 'do's I can think for a re-styling a song like this, and none of the don'ts.

I have listened to hundreds of Tom Sawyer covers and this is by far the best. I love the way it's the same song but the licks aren't copied, they made their own in the Tom Sawyer spirit. Great work!
