It was 400 grit wet dry sandpaper, he sprayed water on it for lubrication and don't spin it full blast. You would have to have the grip of an arthritic elderly person to lose control of any knife using this method, lol. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that's not you so your grip is fine I'm sure. I personally use a whetstone but most people use them the wrong way and that's why they don't get good results.
