Awesome image at the end! I’ve never tried Astro photography, but your channel has inspired me to have a go. PS I was at South Stack a couple of weeks ago (during the day) and the wind was intense! Cheers
Wow Alyn, brilliant shot at the end. In fact all were excellent. Great to see you guys having fun as we'll. can't wait to try some of your techniques. You make it look easy but I am sure it isn't. Thanks so much.
Llanwyn island. Magical place. I spent an evening there last summer. Fortunate to meet Lee Evans photographer. I also had to wade back. Worth it. One of the best photography times yet.
Oh one more thing! Do you think the Sony A7 S3 will be better than the a7s II? And from what I'm hearing the new Sony a73 is awesome for astrophotography and beating out the a7s II as far as high ISO performance!! I can't wait to get mine! Marvin
While I'm watching your video, we're having server weather moving through the Fort Worth and Dallas area. On the other hand, watching you talk about the details that you are explaining and the stars in the back ground, it looks like I could reach out to touch them. Fifty years ago we didn't have the technology that we do today to do things that you do. Keep up the good work. 👍
Got some gear a7III, intervalometer, tripods, slider, batteries, batteries, batteries, lol, just starting. Nice vlog, great shot of light house and all info content/delivery excellent, THANKS, great job!
An excellent video, as to be expected. Full of useful information, tips and great humour. That final image is mind blowing! I look forward to video number 4!
Great video. I grew up in Holyhead where you took this shot! When I was in my late teens I didn't appreciate North Wales so much, and was more eager to move to the city. Now I live in the Caribbean so quite far! However next time I go to the UK I must go back to Anglesey and try to capture some amazing astrophotography! I don't ever remember seeing the milkyway there!
Those mountain wide angle shots of the stars with you in the distance are unspeakably beautiful. Do you have a video where the big and little dippers are highlighted?
Wow I am so glad that I came across your Channel on RUclips! You do some of the most fantastic astrophotography I've ever seen! I am learning so much from you! I have subscribed to your Channel!
I'm so glad to have discovered your channel. Your photos are always stunning. And living in Asia, I haven't heard much about Wales, your videos really opened my eyes, what a beautiful country. I'm now planning for a trip there next year. I'm not nearly as good a photographer as you are, but hope to get some good shots with my old nikon 610!
Great Vlog series Alyn! Really creative and something new (at least to me!). WOuld be great to also get the camera settings for the images, e.g. at the end!
truly awesome imagery. I hope your seminars at Digital Splash this week are successful and wished I was there for the two days instead of just the Sunday. Look forward to your next blog soon Alyn
Dude! I was at South Stack back in August for my first 'classic head torch into the sky' shot ;-) Condition where really good, I could've stayed all night! But mate that image you caught at the end.. Outstanding!!
absolutely love this channel... whats the location of this lighthouse or the name of it Alyn, did you stack any images for the final result...great work buddy cheers steve
Thank you for posting this, it really cleared up a lot of questions I had about selfie's at night. One question I do have for you. Do you prefer to take panorama shots vertically or horizontal? I have heard a lot of comments for both.
Hi Alyn. Thanks so much for another great video. It's really interesting to see how you plan and set up these amazing shots. Truly inspiring stuff. Can you provide some advice on how you manage to focus your shots in the dark? Is it just trial and error. Thanks. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Ben buddy! I use live view, I'll do a demo in an upcoming Vlog. I've just received a filter to test which is designed for perfect focus so I'll use that vid as an excuse to show you how I do it
These vlogs are my new favourite channel 😄 Out of interest, did you learn how to use a startracker just with articles and videos online? I'm wondering if there's demonstrations and workshops that try before you buy. Looking forward to VLOG004... with scuba gear this time? 😂
Hahaha cheers Will. I might need to get an Aquatech waterproof housing I think haha Yeah I just read stuff online and it comes with pretty good instructions as well. I will do a video in the future, I'm also talking with a camera shop to see if they would loan some to do a workshop/play session one night in the Beacons
One of the most amazing Astrophotography I've ever seen. And also great vlog!! Actually, I was looking for live astrophotography content....feeling great that I got yours. One last thing, I'm also trying to get my hands on astrophotography with my Nikon D3300. I hope you could help me with the "vlog making software".
Stunning work again chap! so couldn't wait for this vlog to come out, and well, I wasn't disappointed! That final shot was fantastic, the position of the light rays really complemented the image. I had to chuckle at the incoming tide at Llanddwyn, reminded me of an adventure earlier on in the year where I nearly got caught out in the early hours shooting starscapes at St. Cwyfan's Church Cant wait for AstroVlog004 :) Geoff
Ciaran Craig thanks! I'll never put my personal editing workflow on RUclips as I offer private tuition but I will post some basic Lightroom workflows and tips in the near future
Hi Alyn! Congrats for your nice video and great photos. I just wanted to ask you something regarding the Gary Fong diffuser, which I am also using... I only use the speedlight for nght shots... but don't know anything else about it :) Could you tell me what kind of filters you use to make it warmer and not so intense? Best regards, Carlos
Hello, I have the Sony A7III and I get hot pixels (red, green and white dots) in some of my long exposure astrophotos, Do you know why is that and how should I fix it? thanks for this wonderful channel.
Sick photos!!! Love your Vlog!! I've learn a lot, form even seeing 2 of your episodes!! keep it up! haha. btw. you missed one shoting star at 10:15!! - iLofoten Photo
Hi Alyn, Great vlog! I’m planning on visiting South Stacks soon to have a go a Astro Photography. One question I have is that in a few of your videos you expose for about 20s, does this cause the lighthouse beams to become too large ? The image you shot has a relatively small light beam, so didn’t know if this was the natural speed of the lighthouse or you merged two images. Thanks!
Hi Alyn, great video, can I ask are you using a wireless flash transmitter to fire the flash/linked to the rear curtain or are you just pressing the test flash button on the flash itself once you are in position and it’s near the end of exposure?
Stephen John thank Stephen. It's been a while since I paid any attention to the entry level market so I'm not sure I'm afraid. My advice would be to save a bit of your budget for a lens though as kit lenses are pretty crap
That last shot was amazing
That last shot is so magical!
Sorry for the bad audio on that one scene! I forgot to record the audio so had to dub over myself like an old school Japanese film
Alyn Wallace ... I didn’t notice but I’ll have to watch it again 👍🏻
Those are some beast photos my dude!
dude you had some sick photos, I like it
Damn bro... last shot was epic ❤️❤️❤️
Great video. Hilarious watching you guys wade through that water. Outstanding image at the end!
Haha cheers bud!
Awesome image at the end! I’ve never tried Astro photography, but your channel has inspired me to have a go. PS I was at South Stack a couple of weeks ago (during the day) and the wind was intense! Cheers

That final image of the lighthouse is ridiculous Alyn! Do you remember if that was a stack of several exposures? Would love to learn how to do that...
Your work is phenomenal

Nice vid. Do you have any tutorial discussing composition and some typical subjects while shooting milky way? Thanks a bunch.
Thanks Jhan. Not yet but that's a good idea thanks I'll do one in the future
Theyre just CTO gels that I found on Amazon. Then I cut them up to fit over the flash and under the Lightsphere :)
Very very nice!
Insane great picture.
Thanks Otto!
Hello, I have the Sony A7III and I get hot pixels (red, green and white dots) in some of my long exposure astrophotos, Do you know why is that and how should I fix it? thanks for this wonderful channel.
Use Dark Frame Subtraction or try Dust and Scratches filter in Photoshop
Really great video. I took away a lot from this tutorial. May I ask what the red light source is that precedes and follows your bulb flash?
Thanks a lot! Just an indicator light to notify you that its received wireless signal. Bit annoying for me at night yeah haha
Very cool. What's the location of the shot at 7.46? Cheers!
Do a tutorial on settings for astrophotography on your camera!
Sick photos!!! Love your Vlog!! I've learn a lot, form even seeing 2 of your episodes!! keep it up!
haha. btw. you missed one shoting star at 10:15!!

I Lofoten thanks a lot dude! Ah yeah good spot!
you deserve more subscribers!! awesome!!!
Thanks a lot Domas :)
You got another shooting star at 8:55 and at 10:16. Was this during a meteor shower?

The image you shot has a relatively small light beam, so didn’t know if this was the natural speed of the lighthouse or you merged two images. Thanks!
carl johnson hey Carl, yes you're right very well thought. I had to use 5 second exposures for the lighthouse foreground and 20s for the sky :)
Hi Alyn, great video, can I ask are you using a wireless flash transmitter to fire the flash/linked to the rear curtain or are you just pressing the test flash button on the flash itself once you are in position and it’s near the end of exposure?
Was just pressing the button on the flash
@@AlynWallacethanks for the quick reply.
Awesome very cool
Hello! I liked your video it's so cool that kind of photography is what I wanted. What camera did you use to take 10:00?
A7sii
Really nice video - working my way through your stuff. What app is it you used @ around 3 minutes in? Looks excellent.
Bivouac Photography thanks a lot! That's PhotoPills, I explain it a little better in vlog 002 "photographing the stars on the Welsh coast"
Hey Alyn, great video! Can you recommend a lens for entry level Astrophotography? I’m shooting on a Canon EOS-M (APS-C sensor)
Stephen John thank Stephen. It's been a while since I paid any attention to the entry level market so I'm not sure I'm afraid. My advice would be to save a bit of your budget for a lens though as kit lenses are pretty crap
