studying voice is so crucial, especially with main characters. with my kylo ren i am constantly trying to replicate the way he speaks in and out of the helmet so i can practice his normal voice before the effects are added.
I bought a vocal processor and tweaked it perfectly. It sounds exactly like Kylo Ren when I talk it’s crazy. Adding the mannerisms of Kylo and the flow of his speech makes it actually believable.
I just acquired stormtrooper complete armor here in Florida, USA and I'm looking for a voice changer. Your video was very helpful and entertaining. Plus your American accent stormtrooper voice sounded really good.
It’s interesting and amusing that as an American, those of you from the UK say “talk like an American or in an American accent”... I already sound like an American and it’s still hard to get it right. But I have to admit, it was the King’s English before we in the colonies bastardized it to how we speak now. So, you’re right that it is an “American accent”.
Hi Chris, I just use the one supplied. I had to modify it a little to keep it up against my mouth. That’s the little white piece of metal on the side. :-)
Should pitch shift it down. I could probably record simmilar voices in my Boss BR portistudio with pitch shifting, or on Garage Band but on a portable costume, that's something different
Brilliant discussion, Daniel. How about a follow up video on a collection of good lines to say. You touched on a few here in this video, but I’m sure as an experienced trooper you have had some good dialog with your fans and might share your experiences. Also, is it legal(?) or proper to copy actual voice lines from the films and use those on maybe a simple mp3 sampler?
Thanks Bryan. Good idea. Tricky one to cover, to a degree, as each interaction with the public can be different. However, I’d say that some lines just come from experience. Like, for example, speaking to the parent and pointing at their child and saying “is that your droid” etc. Regarding the samples, I’m not clued up on the legality but, TRamp does have lots of movie samples built in. I imagine the copyright expired some time ago. These can be triggered by options remote or finger buttons, ideal for those that aren’t confident with speaking themselves. :-)
They are not supposed to change your voice so much as they need to add the static before and after you say something. I had one but it stopped working.
A good bit of advice that all new troopers need. I also use tramp and it is a fantastic piece of kit...unfortunately it can't hide my geordie accent no matter how thick I lay the American on 🤣
Hi Eli, Best to visit facebook.com/trooperamp/ for pricing and availability if you are looking for TRamp. If you are looking to purchase an Aker MR1505 (these are also quite good), I’d try Amazon :-)

Very true. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Great video here! Wish I had this when I started trooping back in 2002 🙈

Your American Accent was perfectly good. Thank you for this informative demonstration.
Hi Dan great video! I'm still trying to find a microphone to use with my TRAMP... Do you have any ideas? Thanks - Chris.

Great video! Thanks for the review and tips!
Interesting video, I saw that there is also various character available like Mando or Chewbacca.
What is the average price of this TRamp device?

Great video again Dan! Going to have to learn an American accent, I don’t know how that will work with a geordie accent 😂
Haha!! It’s all good. As long as the public enjoy meeting you and having a photo etc, the voice is just a small part of it. ☺️☺️☺️
Is it still the best all these years later?
Your American accent was perfect imo, nice lol
Thank you, Logan. That’s very kind of you to say. :-)
Oh man! I didn't even consider the accent as I myself am American, that must be really hard! Though I'll always love a more English sounding ST.
Where did you get it?
Awesome video buddy👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you, matey. 👍🏻☺️👍🏻
I like the TRamp.

Haha. Embrace the accent, brother. 👍🏻🤩
Thanks for the vidéo 😁
