Dude… WOW!! Blown away by the process and the outcome! Incredible job on the video too. Can’t wait for more of these!
Thanks so much JC!!! Really appreciate you watching! Still learning the video process but it’s been a great challenge. More episodes coming soon!
Holy Molly, Desy! Holly molly! Never thought I could use oregano to mimic leaves and the rock imprint on the foam was super cool. I always wondered how one does mimic a rock texture and here is the answer. Thank you so much for these tutorials! Love them!
PS: The fact that you included the entire list of materials and tools makes this tutorial even better. True gold! Thanks again!
You’re very welcome and thanks so much for watching! The cool thing about crafting is that you may already have a lot of the materials. And I promise the oregano odor goes away after a while! :)
Thanks for doing this Desy! HT Bases are BOOOORING!!!!! This is amazing I might open my own diorama business lmao (not!!!).
Thank you for watching! Hey, thats the goal with this series...to get people involved in a new aspect of the hobby! (And to add some spice to those flat grey/black bases. Boring indeed!)
Blown Away!!! great work as always bro. These surely make figures pop so much
Thanks Will! Glad you like them. Fun and easy to make!
So great! Well done! Hot toys should do these kind of bases more often (for how much they are)
Thank you!! HT has been including more diorama bases lately which is great! But I agree, some of their lower tier figures can really benefit from a nice little diorama base cover. Thanks again for watching!
Great video. You keep this up and I can see you getting a huge following. Let’s spread the word people.👍👍
Thanks Luis!!! Hoping to inspire some creativity!
@@metamorphiccustoms I also want to mention that I like how you want to share your knowledge and techniques and not be one of those that feels they can’t share there “trade secrets”. Thank you for that.👍
Amazing video series Desy. Cant wait to see more.
Thank you, Andre! Can’t wait to bring you more! Tomorrow’s episode should be a good one.
Great stream mate ,i make dioramas but the idea of intergrating the stand was an awesome idea :)
Thanks!!! The one thing I liked about the HT bases, especially in the SW bases was the name plates. I wanted to keep that element without “permanently modifying” the original base.
Bro you deserve a lot more subscribers
Thanks so much! Hopefully the crafting community will continue to grow! Also why I put out that Feb 2022 giveaway video = to give back to the community and grow it at the same time.
Oh god. I now feel the urge to make a display for my small SS and HTs army lol
Give it a shot! Make a small one, see if you like the process, then make more as needed. Thanks for watching!!!
@@metamorphiccustoms Glad I found this channel I’ve been trying to find videos like this for a while now
That was a lot of fun, I know I could do that with no problems, thanks for all the links that helps out a lot, I van imagine using different woodland scenic supplies to add static grass to a base or add a sandy finish to look like Tantooine, I think there are an endless amount of things you can add to the bases and there are some great props that come with some of the hot toys figures that could benefit from having an extended base like the clone wars on I-wan figure that comes with broken battle droid parts they would look great on a rocky soil base and R2-D2 deluxe with all the working tools and the little lamp that plugs into him would look great on a swampy textures plant and moss covered base to look like Dagoba I believe is the planet Yoda lived on. There's some cool things you can do with miniature fiber optic lighting kits to create bases that look like they have lights in them to create either a space look or a death star looking appearance and I sure you could extend those dynamic bases that come with empire strikes back Darth Vader to make those death star pieces really pop. I really like your channel and I subscribed and find you to be a great host and I thank you for your inspiration. I'm thinking of things that you could add to the back of the bases to create a back wall and add lights to it for some millineum falcon or random spacecraft interior that would really be a lot of fun and make my figures more dynamic and customized. I have 2 different mandolorians and 1 swoop bike that would really benefit with having a large Sandy rock covered base to look like Tantooine and even my Jawae and R5 droid would look better on a sandy rock surround or even a mock up of some rusty panels to look like the sandcrawler. I have a tuskan raider that would look great if I added more foam to the bottom of the base and made him look like he was standing on a little hill and elevated to be more dynamic with maybe some little dinosaur or lizard figures or even some dry bones and rocks.
Those are some great ideas! Thanks for the subscription :) ! The posibilities are truly endless. Especially if you add lighting!
great to see you finally made channel, awesome work!
Thank you!!! Felt great to be able to provide these tutorials. Can’t wait to make more!
Will also work great for a certain Princess & Ewok, too.
Indeed! I’ve got an ROTJ Stormtrooper on this forest base-topper and he sits behind Endor Leia and Wicket. Works great. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
Man this is awesome!! Love these videos keep them coming !!!
Thanks Rob! Will do!

Thanks Man! You’re very welcome and more coming soon!
There you go outdoing yourself once again my friend, I'm so happy for you, this is definitely an amazing idea for a channel and an impressive tutorial video, putting New England on the map, and thank you
Many thanks!!! The kinds words are sincerely appreciated. More to come very soon!
Subbed awesome stuff desy looking forward to what you have planned for the channel
Thanks Brett! Loving the process and can’t wait to upload more episodes! There’s a lot planned for the near future, starting with the third episode dropping this Friday.
You can make your own paste by using Spackle adding some fine sand and paint. The texture might not be exact but thats something you can play around with
Thanks and great suggestion! I've done this a few times for the bases of my wargaming models. (Since they're so small, I would simply mix dirt or baking soda with paint. Works great.
@@metamorphiccustoms Actually I finished up some desert terrain base for my Black Series 1/12 Land speeder, and used your idea from the Mando Dio you did. Where you mixed tile grout and sand. Worked beautifully
amazing skill metamorphic..just subscribe here.
these are nice too on that shore troopers at rogue one
Thanks J-Toys!!! More to come soon!
Wow! This is what I’ve been wanting and waiting for, a great tutorial on how to make these fantastic bases. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thanks Dan! Hope the video comes in handy!
That's so cool and I never thought of using an actual rock and pushing it into the carved foam to add detail. That's really cool. Instantly subscribed and thumb up. Looking forward to more content!
Thanks Tim! And I'm very much looking forward to putting out more content. More coming very soon!
Subbed! Great stuff bro!
Thanks Anthony! Defintiely appreciate the support!
Yo! Amazing job, dude. How about some close ups of the base as it rotates?
That’s a great point! I’m going to to begin incorporating closeups during the rotation shots. Thank you!!!
THIS IS cool, I may have to do this eventually.
Thanks Max! Give it a shot! You'll be surprised how much fun it could be.
@@metamorphiccustoms at this stage I only have 2 hot toys and they're Marvel bases but I'm looking forward to my DX23 luke at the end of the year
@@maxsgeekdom8514 So many great figures coming out. These"toppers" could really be made for any of the flat HT bases. I made a few for the hexagonal shaped marvel bases. Just have to trace the base shape on to the styrene plastic and start there. You can even add height to the base by layering it up to create a pedestal look. (If you have the clearance in the display shelf of course.)
Siiiick
Thanks Fabio!!!
This is awesome. Can’t wait to see the customs shown here. Bought one last summer and I have been wanting another.
Thanks so much! More custom dios to come!
Amazing work! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Shane!!
Instead of AKI product can I use real sand mixed with mod podge? I wonder what you think about it.
You absolutely can! However the grain size of real sand may be too course and appear a bit out of scale. Instead, use a thin powder and Mod Podge. (Baking Soda + Mod Podge + Paint ) Thanks for watching!
Hey man, great video! I'm defiantly gonna do this in the future when I get my own hot toys figure base. But I wanted to know is it possible to remove the metal nameplate of the figure, not just this display base but in general? Like is it possible to completely remove the protruding triangle part and nameplate without having to saw it off or breaking it? Thanks if you could let me know!
Hey thanks for watching! Yes, the Triangular section can come off and on. In most bases, it’s not even glued on. On others, there’s just a tiny bit of glue making it easy to pop off.
@@metamorphiccustoms Ok, thanks man! I was wondering because I'm going to create my own full greenery display base to make it super realistic. Can't wait to create it and add it to a display!
@@DesignedAssassin Awesome! Good luck and have fun with the process!
