@@KimLarae366 Hey! At the time I used a random conditioner, I can't remember. Along with a Shea moisture product. I don't even think I used a gel, but the technique gave me cute results.
Now for my wash and go's I use:
Aussie 'Miracle Moist' conditioner (heavy saturation to reveal the curls)
*I proceed to wash up, while that's in. Once I'm done, I rinse from top to bottom. Then I make sure I squeeze all of the water out of my hair. *My hair loves hot water* Immediately after, I go in with my leave in Conditioner, along with some Grapeed Oil. I then end it with the Eco Styler Gel (slightly heavy saturation mixed with water, I make sure my hair is combed and detangled with the gel in it) & THEN I shake.* Please make sure to change to temp of the water so you won't pass out lol.
It probably seems like a lot, but this is what works best for me since I've watched this video a year ago, learned more about my hair and what she likes. I hope this helps !

I don’t do it every day or even every week but I’m way more comfortable wetting my hair every few days and letting it rock. Some times I literally wash n go and some times I wash and sit my butt down and define for an hour. My best take away from this video was moisturizing my hair with water more often. I saw a change in my curls. Parts of my hair that I didn’t think curled at all are way different now.

I’ve also been extending my wash days for too long. I’ll start washing my hair every 3, maybe 4 days (same as I did when I was relaxed) instead of every 5-7 and see if it helps.

I am now a wash n go girl. I've been natural for 17 years but have only been doing wash n gos for about a year and a half and I couldn't figure out why my hair is so much more moisturized and healthier than it has ever been and this video has turned on a light bulb for me as to WHY my hair is so much easier to manage. Every time I style my hair the process gets quicker and easier. I would also like to mention that it wasn't until i did my 3rd BC and my hair was extremely short did I learn how to do wash n gos, which is why I am such an advocate of BC'ing instead of transitioning. If you can't manage your hair short, you have the patience to try to learn how to manage it when it's long. By BC'ing, you use less product, and if a stye doesn't turn out right the first time, its no big deal to re-do it, and practice over and over again because it's not as time consuming. When I had bra strap length hair a few years ago, there was no way in the world I was gonna re-attempt a failed wash-n-go that took hrs to shampoo, condition, detangle, etc. Anyway... ::steps down from soap box:: I REALLY ENJOY YOUR VIDS DICKEY!

Alright, so I saw this and I'm glad I found this three weeks into going natural instead of a year in. I've been overwhelmed by all these natural hair RUclipsrs and have tried their wash and go styles and honestly I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME. The first time I did this wash and go I only put in leave in conditioner and totally forgot to add my styling cream. I let it air dry and my hair did feel soft and moisturized, however my curls weren't popping as expected, but I was surprised with being able to see my curl pattern instead of using gels and finger coiling my hair.
Now, lemmie tell ya sumting. That Second Time. Adding the styling cream and a bit of argan deep penetrating oil. GIRRRRRLLLLLLL. I will only ever do this from now on. Sooooo happy I stumbled upon Anthony and Hair Rules. This alone has made going natural much easier! No more excessive spending for products I didn't need and were only making my hair dry. A little annoyed with how much I bought into the Natural Hair Community on RUclips and the amount of money I've spent but I'm glad I found out now instead of two years down the line.
Hydration is key! Give me all that water!
    My steps:
    Coconut Curls Conditioner
    Argan Oil Deep Penetrating
    Cantu Leave in Conditioner
    Maui Curl Smoothie
Shake well like ya possessed and air dry.
Eventually I'll invest in a good dryer but I don't mind letting it air dry for now.

Ok sooooooo I finally did it!!!!!
1st time I tried it last week I still made my own amendments not knowing you must follow his instructions and steps.
At 1st I shampooed hair because it needed a clean anyways after some weeks, then bentonite clay, deep conditioner, styling cream then eco gel then oil all raked through in the same movement he did but the outcome was still defined curls but I told myself the gel maybe helped a bit.
2nd attempt yesterday. Wet hair, deep condition, wash out, leave in conditioner (soaking wet hair is needed for all applications), shake hair for my life then air dry and the definition I kid you not is shocking for me with absolutely NO GEL.
My hair is kinky maybe 4b I don't know. It did shrink in the back but the front of my hair is longer.
This quick lil wash day was 30 - 35 mins max !!!
At night I banded the hair in 5 sections then fluff this morning and went out looking cute with full soft stretched hair
CON: My hair by day 3 was dry as F and started to tangle. This type of wash n go as Dicky said in the video is really to be done every 2 days........but I'm not gonna do that. I only use this method as a quick style that gives perf results if I have somewhere special to go
TIP: I personally used a cheap leave in conditioner due to the frequency of this method and amount to be used (which wasn't that bad as the leave in i used was not thick so the product distributed quickly) and I actually loved it also. It was also slippery and foamyish. The African pride olive oil leave in conditioner is what I bought specifically for this.

I never liked a whole lot of product in my hair before I went natural. I kept the same thought these past two months after my "little" chop. I'm taking your advice and my hair is awesome! Will cowash at LEAST 3x per week to keep this look. Appreciate you, Dickey!!

This is true. When I had a relaxer the stylist didn’t put a lot of product on my hair and i did the same when I washed my own hair...but natural hair is the opposite.

This method is great; just do it on detangled hair first! The back half of my head wasn't and the wash-and-go exposed my laziness. I let it dry and THEN proceeded to address the tangles and knots. Oil was my best friend here (water was making my tangles worse). I used just enough to saturate the large, tangled curl clumps followed by finger-detangling, cutting any irreversible knots, and then finger-coiling the now detangled hair out of the way. I just wanted to share what I did so that you don't go on a chopping spree 💇‍♂️ like I was about to do 😊.

I am sooo happy I came to know about you Dickey by a sister you saw doing your method and you reached out to her and you did a video chat with her. I have been looking for a way to capture this look because I know what my hair looks like when wet and with the product.
Wow I am amazed at this. I am a “retired” barber stylist and this was not taught 20 years ago when I was in school.
    Thank you for sharing.❤😊

This is an amazing tutorial! I figured this method out on my own through pure trial and error. Only difference is that I comb the conditioner and the leave in product into my hair. It helps elongate the hair better than just your fingers. I also keep a bottle of rose water on me to spritz it throughout the day. Awesome video!

This is awesome. As a male, I have wanted to grow my hair out and I have been struggling hard with growing it. It breaks its super dry. I have 4c hair is super coily and no matter what I looked up I couldn’t find anything to keep my hair healthy and keep it from breaking, getting insanely tangled. I cannot wait to get home and give this a try.

aqua fina ok so I just tried it, but I plopped with a microfiber towel instead. This is the first time I’ve ever done a wash and go AND been able to do my skincare and makeup at the same time. Thank you Dickey!! I am crying right now😭😭😂❤️. I’m so glad I finally found you! I am 55 years old. I had been relaxing my hair since I could remember. When I turned 50 I decided I hated my hair so I had it cut into a red Mohawk 😂🤣. But after a while I hated that too, so I started doing weaves for the next four years and only relaxing my leave out. Then a little over a year ago I noticed that my hair had grown to almost bra strap length and I decided to try to work with natural hair. My hair has never grown past my shoulders before this, probably because I used to wash, blow dry and flat iron almost every day🙄. For a year now I have tried everything on RUclips to get a wash & go and hated the way it would turn out till I found your channel! Every time I tried my hair looked so frizzy and dry and my curls would only pop in the lower back by my neck. My hair is now past bra strap length and Today I tried your method and I can finally say I love my natural hair! I was so close to going back to relaxer.

I can say this works for my type 4 coily as hell hair! I was so amazed I’d never seen my hair so curly and defined 😍 such an easy process. I don’t have a hooded dryer however, so air drying time is annoying lol. Also, products I use leave white flakes in my hair when it dries; would you know why Dickey?

    • @ruthmatthew5719
      @ruthmatthew5719 4 года назад +10

Lex N it would probably be the products you’re using that creates the white flakes. Try experimenting by mixing your leave-in with your styler on the back of your hand. If it looks like cottage cheese, it’ll cause white flakes. Hope this helps!!
