@@jconner3891 I know it’s definitely in my top. The blue channel is great don’t get me wrong but the red channel is capable of a similar sound but slightly more saturated
I fuckin love that guitar bro. I need one of those. So the red channel has that upper fizzy sizzle range very similar to the Soldano SLO. I think it works for certain things but can be a little annoying for other stuff. A little too sizzly. I’ve built several SLos and I figured out a way to mod it to tame that sizzle a bit. I was just playing my SLO clone and my fender strat today. I got some very similar tones like your getting with the 5150. Definitely interesting. Nice video. Keep em coming.
Thanks dude! I fell like I moved my mic around because it had a lot of sizzle honestly my favorite mic’d up sound is with the akg 414 and sm57 blend. The red channel definitely sounds better in the room with lower gain
Well it’s also how I have it mic’d up. Right on the cone with an sm57 is pretty harsh. The floor unit is an IR of a different cab with different mics. Just something to keep In mind.
Love the video dude! Just wondering how long you've had this unit for and if you've had any reliability issues or service requirements come up? I recently got the same amp and although it's probably my favorite model right now, I'm having some reliability issues and some noise problems and I'm just trying to get a general consensus for those who've had it for a long time (relatively speaking) appreciate any insight you might be able to provide thank you!
@@msi1985 hey man thanks for stopping in. I haven’t had any issues with it at all. When does this noise you’re mentioning happen? Could be something from as small as the power in your home or a tube that has gone microphonic. Even though it’s relatively new maybe something goofy could’ve happened to it. Try plugging it in different areas of your house and see if the problem is there. If it isn’t then it a power issue and you could get a power conditioner. Second thing to do have your amp on and turn it up. Take a pencil with eraser and on the eraser end take the tubes one at a time. If you hear a noise coming through a specific tube it could be microphonic.
@@CodyBarnette-GNARK thanks dude I will check these avenues out a little bit later but I appreciate the advice. I tested playing in a few different areas and the noise essentially happens as soon as I switch to the blue or red channel it's not really loud enough to bother me on the green Channel. I have a little video demo of it that's like 60 seconds if you don't mind taking a peek. In this scenario here I switched from being connected directly to the wall to going into a Furman power conditioner. ruclips.net/video/71NpBEeue3w/видео.htmlsi=rTxjAjeNTJpXX-ux
@@msi1985 I watched the video. Sorry I’m at. Peking night shift this weekend. But from what it sounds like is dirty power. My house is pretty bad with that stuff as well even through my power conditioner and 2 noise gates it can still come through. It could be some crazy weird thing but it didn’t start doing this until recently right?
@@CodyBarnette-GNARK thank you for checking out the video! I wish it was as easy as dirty power! I had recorded the amp yesterday at volumes of around 6 or 7 which was higher than I used to demonstrate the sound issue in the video... And it was absolutely silent 🔕 everything was working fine for about 5 days... Then overnight it is extremely noisy. The company that I purchased it from is going to have their Tech look at it this week and hopefully it can get sorted. I had a very similar incident with a Mesa triple rectifier when some of the preamp tubes went bad. But that didn't happen for about two and a half years, I'm just surprised but could be something simple I'm missing.
Very cool tones, its nice to try out some different settings so we can see how the ap reacts. Very cool strat. May i suggest that you provide the signal chain in the description of the video?
On top of the EVH is a super sick modded Marshall jcm 800 built inside the casing of an old 1950’s tube radio. I have a video of it being played on my channel
The only thing I don't like about the 5150 III's is that the mid-section in them sounds like you activated a wah pedal and kept it halfway cocked. It's very honky and nasally. I always have to surgically EQ it out.
Usually I scoop the mids heavy on these but I also was using the peppers dirty tree which adds a lot of mids. Sounds really good for cutting through a dense mix
Comment down below ⬇️ some amps you would like to see me demo in the future or content ideas you guys would like to see
Blue channel boosted is where it is at. Love my stealth

I have one of those inside my quad cortex. It actually sounds better than the physical amp. Crazy!!

I would like to see you demo a dumble amp. I will not subscribe until you demo a dumble amp.
@@joshsmith7033 I would but we don’t do wimpy sissy pussy tones on this channel. 😂
