Premier League clubs will vote to scrap VAR! Mark Goldbridge says clubs must listen to fans and not side with the PGMOL and the Premier League. Get your comments in below.
Why not change the terminology then. Scrapping VAR bc of this and the PGMOL is just further backing of some of the worst officiating ever. And that in the best League of the World as so many like to say
Exactly this. Because it doesn't serve the purpose of judging the situation step by step to provide a correct call, it's just there to figure out if the ref made a serious enough mistake given all the circumstances which is just nonsense.
There’s certain aspects of VAR that are inherently flawed. Telling the referee to look at any decision will result in that decision being given. I don’t think i’ve ever seen a decision be suggested by VAR and the referee has had a look and stuck by his original decision in the PL. I’ve only ever seen it in Scotland.
But the truth is a lot of fouls are not black and white, and there is an element of subjectivity to a lot of fouls. This is why even days after the game people still can’t decide whether many instances should have been a foul or not. Also if someone is 1mm offside, who actually cares. If there’s a small shove in the back which the ref misses who cares. It’s sport not science, and forensically analysing decisions which could be given either way for 5 minutes every game takes all the fun out of it. Football was much better for the fans before VAR and that’s a fact
- Leave referees on the field. - Have football and tech experts in the VAR room, not the referees mates. - Keep the technology, let it evolve. - Avoid re-refereeing the game. - Keep the fans in the loop. - Sack Howard Webb.
but then its the referee decision is final. game will flow mistakes happen. human error. VAR five minutes to make a decision and still can get it wrong.
It’s not VAR that should be scrapped, but the incompetence and inconsistency. VAR has been able to expose the inefficiencies and inconsistency of match officials. That is important and PGMOL has been seen as an outdated unable to cope with the new realtime input for decisions. That is why I say this is the a cause of PGMOL’s bid to control narrative that has been democratized for the last few seasons.
@@ofusowre7620 It seems so long ago true, but that doesn't change the fact it's not the technology but the corrupt officials that are running it that are causing that.

VAR is not the problem, it just needs to be automated for offsides, and the rules for penalties need to have consistency. People focus so much on the things VAR get wrong they are ignoring the amount of times offside goals and red cards have been correctly given. If you remove VAR and a ref gives a penalty that's undeserved with no option to change that decision what really changes? It's the officials not the system.
I totally agree. But then on the flip side, by removing a system which does undoubtedly bring accuracy but is misused by human decision, you may as well remove this false sense of accuracy. so yes VAR is good when used right. however because the EPL refs are so awful, you may as well scrap the VAR system which exposes their inconsistencies. in fact, it may even be better for refs to save face as they can now just blame “human error”.

There were way more mistakes before VAR but then they had an excuse. Now with VAR they have zero excuses for their incompetence and that's why it looks worse. VAR is not the problem, it just exposes their utter incompetence. Change the referees and their training not the technology that actually holds them accountable.
@@Mr.WhiteCat_YTI don’t blame the referee for not having the correct view of the tackle on Gordon, but I do blame Var because they have watched it multiple times and all they needed to say was did you see any contact, if he says no then Var should step in and say we would like you too go to the screen and look again and make a decision off what we’ve seen. In my opinion keep Var for offside and Violent conduct because we know Violent Conduct does happen off the ball and if the referee is following the ball and something happens behind his back then he can’t be expected too give the right decision. Other than that football was never meant to be perfect but Skys Rob Dawson said they get 96% correct so taking last nights decision on Gordon does that go down as correct because Var never called the ref to review his decision 🤷♂️ if that’s the case then the percentage will always be high if no one challenges these idiots on sky as it’s just accepted what he says is true without having a conversation about what he is saying. That makes it worse. Having a third party can eliminate bias from the ref's decision. It still also doesn't address the frequent and extensive VAR interruptions, confusion in the stadium, passion being lost from goal celebrations and all of the other drawbacks stated by Wolves that aren't directly related to the processing of the decision
VAR shouldnt be scrapped. In the Brighton vs Chelsea match, Chelsea were about to get a penalty but the VAR was actually used properly and was found that Veltman had touched the ball, therefore the penalty was overturned. Don't remove VAR, just sack the people that can't use it properly.
Football should be using technology [like most other sports] to eliminate teams getting robbed of points. But the way this has been integrated into the game has been atrocious. Why can't we have technology like Tennis or Cricket that shows the path of the ball in realtime on the screen for everyone to see, and it then it just reports what the status is, offside, goal, no goal. Surely this must be possible. I get that penalty decisions are a bit more ambigious and maybe needs to be looked at separately, but surely they can develop something that eliminates the need for 3 blokes in a room discussing it at length, then still giving the wrong decision. Its madness.
if VAR is removed then we will simply complain when the ref makes a bad decision. Either way, there will be complaints. I think the ideal situation would be removing the corruption of the PGMOL and the people controlling VAR. If you made offside VAR automated, and removed human decision from VAR, then it would get better
They don’t need to get rid of it they just need to sort the rules out properly it shouldn’t take 5 minutes for a decision if it does then it’s not a clear and obvious decision in the first place
@Toosimoo but Sky have asked other PL teams what they think of Wolves proposal and they are not in favour of it , but wolves proposal will be brought up St the next Pl team meeting and there will be a vote on it , but it will not pass , this is a storm in a tea cup thing
VAR is not the problem. It’s the people using it. Stop using working refs, get people specifically trained to run it and that solves 75% of the problem. When the Diaz goal in the spurs Liverpool game happened, it was the VAR tech who noticed what had happened. It wasn’t the 2 referee plods sitting there drinking tea. Get the VAR techs to do the job and they’d do a much better job then a bunch of refs who are part of the PGMOL boys club.
While VAR is a problem, the inconsistent officiating is the REAL problem, and fixing or scrapping VAR won't fix the issue. I'm indifferent. So many handballs weren't called this season even after VAR. I don't understand this.
There is no problem with the technology. There is problem with the interpretation of the laws and the people using it. If you shoot somebody, you won't be blaming the gun, you will be blaming the shooter right?
The problem is they are working off the wrong principle to start with, "we only send the referee to the monitor to review clear and obvious errors, we don't want to be re-refereeing the games". Wrong wrong wrong. One senior match official reviews the video footage and gives his decision to the pitch referee to implement. No fuss, no long discussions and delays, the official with the access to the most information makes the decision and it is quickly implemented. End of. The bunch of officials discussing and dissecting it all, should be background stuff, like a quality control department reviewing the performance of the VAR official.
If people are raving about bad decisions now imagine how worse it will get when VAR is not there anymore it will be even worse and the decisions will be even harder to accept. a change in VAR won't change bad refereeing
Imagine wanting to go back to a bunch of INEPT and USELESS officials making season-defining decisions in a split-second when the fans at home can see via the replays they're wrong. Over and over and over and over again. Then imagine refusing to use technology to enforce the correct decisions because the UNDERLYING PROBLEM (i.e. PGMOL) are still running things. This is literally the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
I hate the rhetoric of "oh but were re-reffing the game" as if thats a bad thing "whats the point of having a ref then if VAR is just going to change the descision?". Cricket still has umpires, tennis still has umpires. These sports manage to use their technology perfectly well to make objectively correct descisions, not to debate wether its "clear and obvious"
Couldnt agree more… they are ruining the beautiful game…even players are afraid to celebrate after scoring thinking god knows maybe var will rule it out
They’ll realize how often they get it right with VAR when it’s taken away. On-field referees will have gotten worse as they’re used to using it as a comfort blanket
No matter what, VAR is TERRIBLE for the enjoyment of the game - no matter how many mistakes they correct. Let's take this opportunity to get rid off this abomination to the sport!
@@ronel7836 It doesn't matter how terrible the referees are going to be, refereean misstakes are a part of the game. In fact they can add flavor and spark to otherwise lifeless games making it a much bettet viewer experience.
Mark you actually nailed it. VAR is not the problem, the people and it's mandate is the problem. That is actually quite easy to fix if they are interested in doing so. Get a panel of refs with a manager and all they do is VAR. It will be the same decisions by the same group of people, which gives you your consistency. Their mandate is to ensure the correct decision is made and that is it. Semi -auto offside coming in any way and goal line works. the VAR manager is held accountable for every decision. A panel can adjudicate multiple games while the manager gives the final decision. A single team works towards a single goal.
After the sh*tshow i watched yesterday, they either have to change the PPL using var or just remove it....all pressure will be on the on field refree which will force him to make better decisions if var is gone
I hope they do scrap it. The technology isn't the problem, it's the ego maniacs controlling it and making the decisions. It was never intended to re referee the game, but it in many it cases it does. The rules have changed practically every week this season. It's been ridiculous.

@@sirwinstonchurchill2052 Sadly I am not Jesus . Have you been drinking :)
Lampard's goal against Germany, that's the kind of mistake VAR was introduced for
No goal line technology was introduced for that exact reason not VAR and that’s been fixed for years now 😭
Do you not watch football?
@@bushmonster1702 Are you intentionally being vague? What are you referring to?
But they’re not using it correctly
That was for the goal line sensors.
I don't wanna scrap VAR, I want a VAR rule book to be made so that these brainless VAR room refs had something standard to go off of
Correction Mark. Its every club except the 115
Yea But It Was United Before City 💯😂👍🏻
VAR shouldnt be scrapped. In the Brighton vs Chelsea match, Chelsea were about to get a penalty but the VAR was actually used properly and was found that Veltman had touched the ball, therefore the penalty was overturned.
Don't remove VAR, just sack the people that can't use it properly.
I'm a Chelsea fan and I agree it wasn't a penalty. BUT where was our corner??
where was lamptey red?
that game was terrible officiating for both chelsea and brighton
Every argument against VAR: Muh 3 seconds of celebration!!!!
Not in a million years, Keep VAR. It has some problems, but it is still miles better then what it was before!
“Every fan has to have their say” (as long as they agree with me).
😂😂
Love how he always ‘encourages’ fans to express their opinions, and then calls them fakes or idiots if they disagree with him
Football should be using technology [like most other sports] to eliminate teams getting robbed of points.
Scrapping VAR would make English league a laughing stock, horrible idea
What about just sacking all the human referees and going AI on refeering?
That will be good
Can't wait for semi-automatic offside tech for next season 👀👌
I can’t wait for mark to be complaining about not having VAR two years into this ban if it happens
It won't happen it would be a backwards step
Two years? More like two games
VAR isn't fit for purpose and all clubs have suffered from it's errors.
City fans: 👀
When is the podcast episode out?
Not happening mate
I dont believe we should remove VAR
VAR IS NOT THE PROBLEM AT ALL .THE PROBLEM IS SIMILAR SITUATIONS DIFFERENT RESULTS GIVEN BY REFEREE DECISIONS .
Don’t get rid of it! The problem is that Sky are going to be VAR again and we’ll all scream at the TV and call for VAR back!
They don’t need to get rid of it they just need to sort the rules out properly it shouldn’t take 5 minutes for a decision if it does then it’s not a clear and obvious decision in the first place
'We should go back to paper money because paypal customer support is useless'
Based
Probably a good idea, TBH.
Jose Mourinho on VAR:
"Only thieves can complain about the introduction of security cameras."
It's crazy how many people in these comments clearly have never been to a game, VAR absolutely kills the atmosphere
Wolves might want to get rid of VAR but the rest of the league teams are NOT in favour of getting rid of it , it said it on Sky Sports news yesterday
We don't know yet, they haven't voted...
@Toosimoo but Sky have asked other PL teams what they think of Wolves proposal and they are not in favour of it , but wolves proposal will be brought up St the next Pl team meeting and there will be a vote on it , but it will not pass , this is a storm in a tea cup thing
@@1970pizza You dont know it wont pass and sky do it FOR CLICKS for gullible people like you.
I can understand why Wolves would feel that way because they have had their season well and truly butchered by incorrect decisions.
Bot comment
also get rid of "clear and obvious" and just let the var decide whether to send the ref to the monitor based on his own opinion
VAR is not the problem, The VAR equipment does not make decisions, it is the People operating it that are the problem.
But if the gun wasn't there - no one gets shot
VAR tech is fit for purpose. But the refs need more training or sacking.
So many are right - it's the implementation, not the technology!
If people are raving about bad decisions now imagine how worse it will get when VAR is not there anymore it will be even worse and the decisions will be even harder to accept. a change in VAR won't change bad refereeing
VAR out. We want are game we love back .
this is a multi-billion dollar sport now - it demands correct calls.
VAR needs to be binned! It’s spoiling the enjoyment of the game for both fans and players
Couldnt agree more… they are ruining the beautiful game…even players are afraid to celebrate after scoring thinking god knows maybe var will rule it out
As a staunch supporter of Liverpool,🔴 yes, yes, yes get rid of VAR great call Wolves🐺
“Technology in the wrong hands can destroy things. Take it away from them until they learn how to properly use it”
Being an Australian fan I know that VAR technology is not an issue! It is the people running it and it is a DISGRACE! It needs to be removed!
People remember when VAR got wrong, but not when they got right.
Absolutely
Lol they've got it wrong WAY too many times
it suppose to be right BUT the people running behind are WRONG!
They’ll realize how often they get it right with VAR when it’s taken away. On-field referees will have gotten worse as they’re used to using it as a comfort blanket
That's their job
No matter what, VAR is TERRIBLE for the enjoyment of the game - no matter how many mistakes they correct.
Let's take this opportunity to get rid off this abomination to the sport!
Lol, the referees are laughing at yall that want to remove VAR and if they do, referees will be worse, especially with social media nowadays
@@ronel7836 It doesn't matter how terrible the referees are going to be, refereean misstakes are a part of the game. In fact they can add flavor and spark to otherwise lifeless games making it a much bettet viewer experience.
@@wolfbrosunited7519 HAHAHA. Did you read what you just typed??? And you thought it was a good idea too send it????
It’s not var it’s the people behind it
Mark you actually nailed it.
Maybe, if the referees had better training and formation, VAR would not be as controversial?
The var has been implemented only for a few seasons. Officials are not fully trained and don't have the experience yet
VAR is not being removed at all it was idea frkm single club no one wants to get rid of VAR.
Can we use the semi automated offside thing and scrap the rest
As a cov fan it ruined the best day off my football life instead of singing all the way home it was quite it ruins the spontaneous nature of football
It should not be removed this is ridiculous
After the sh*tshow i watched yesterday, they either have to change the PPL using var or just remove it....all pressure will be on the on field refree which will force him to make better decisions if var is gone
That didn't work before VAR 😅
All we got was "well the referees need more help, the game is so fast paced".
Scrap VAR to go back to stone age refereeing!
I hope they do scrap it. The technology isn't the problem, it's the ego maniacs controlling it and making the decisions. It was never intended to re referee the game, but it in many it cases it does. The rules have changed practically every week this season. It's been ridiculous.
Turn off VAR
