So what I read from wiki page twenty years before the events of Fallout: DUST, the Second Battle of Hoover Dam occurred. The NCR, aided by Courier Six, claimed victory over Caesar's Legion and drove them back across the Colorado River. However, the Courier ultimately turned on the NCR (either by order of Robert House or Yes Man) and ordered them to leave New Vegas. The NCR would eventually annex the Strip by force and brand the Courier as a terrorist. As a result, unrest grew in Freeside and Outer Vegas, which would eventually become full-scale rebellion. Some time after the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, the NCR discovered the Sierra Madre Casino, as well as the mysterious and deadly Cloud. It is implied that the NCR conducted experiments with the Cloud, bringing both massive samples of Cloud Residue and corpses of Ghost People back to the Mojave. Many of these experiments were conducted in a makeshift laboratory set up in the lobby of the Lucky 38 casino. Though the full nature of the experiments is unknown, it is implied that they were brutal, sadistic, and inhumane.
ya got some stuff right from the wiki and some wrong(mostly on the experiment part) hope you can forgive me for pulling a "acksctually" lol the royst and bernard science team had.to set a makeshift lab on the lucky 38 because the custodian of their previous laboratories set in vault 21 martin bothwright. had sabotaged the vault in a attempt at stopping royst's experiments further, which resulted in bothwright becoming the very first ghost people in the mojave and the NCR sealing the vault with radiation barrels. later they had to drop the makeshift lab because of the rebels from freeside invading the lab as well mr house's securitrons acting against them and the investigation on their experiments conducted by followers of the apocalypse(one of them being none other than arcade isreal gannon) however the investigation failed since most of the followers had died when they attempted to get into the lucky 38 by the sewers with the remaining ones going insane and setting up shop at the old new vegas clinic the NCR had discovered the sierra madre casino thanks to a tribal that was part of a tribe formed by elijah who had escaped from the sierra madre vault. thanks to that the NCR later had edwin royst and lydia bernard(the very researcher mike killed in the video) conduct experiments with it. thus resulting in the vault 21 and later lucky 38 ones as well in the creations of a type of ghost people known as ghost berserkers and the spiral down into the shitfest that'd turn into the mojave. the lab experiments most likely resulted in the presence of more centaurs in the mojave as well feral ghouls

while it certainly is a much more realistic depiction of the apocalypse i'd disagree with zach that people would lose the will to live. while there certainly would be alot of people who'd probably just roll over and die, its important to remember that humanity isn't as fragile as most people think when the chips are down. It's a postdiluvian thing, where there was a renaissance to 2005 and everything has a p!ss filter. But seeing this comment kinda gives me a bit of _hope._
It's a Post-post-post-Apocalypse. First 90% of all Native Americans died in a couple of generations in the 16th Century, then 90-95% of the planet died during the Nuclear Aftermath, and now 90% of the region died due to no one dealing with the DLCs. Depending on your beliefs, you can cram a couple more apocalypses in this. The Aztecs had about three or four more.
New Vegas Is departure from a lot of games in the genre in being distincly Post-Post-Apocolypse. The great war was 200 years ago, and society has (mostly) rebuilt. not a great civilization, but one nontheless. This mod throws another apocolypse on top of it, so it Post-Post-Post-Apcolypse, or Post-Post-Mid-Apcolypse since the nightmare appears to be ongoing
Zach: "I refuse to feel bad about what just happened there. The FIRST thing they did was draw weapons." Says the man with his weapon drawn and pointed at them. Lol
I really do love that Dust is basically the story of if everything that could go wrong did go wrong and then some. Like it’s insane just how much bad shit happened here.
I love how this mod forces Zach to, essentially, play as if he just started. New Game+ just without the gear. Gotta scavenge and maintain what you can but got the skill to do so, or at least make it a bit easier. Wonder how long he'll last.

To be fair about the whole realistic depiction of an apocalypse you have to take into account the tunnelers, deathclaws, Gouls, THE FOG, teleporting demons and murderous NCR
Gotta say, I like this sort of "reset" of the Fallout New Vegas playthrough. It's not like we watch you guys for the gameplay but not being literally gods anymore kind of adds something to it that I like. I hope you continue this playthrough it's pretty cool so far!
Plot twist: Zach and mike survived Marko and his goons, they are alive but in a new nightmare. They are in Legion AR Pods, slowly but surely repairing/healing their minds and internal organs, from help from Caesar Mike, although Caesar Mike wants to kill his “doppelgänger” he realizes that NCR mike is the paradoxical variable that allows for inter-dimensional travel. Thus Caesar mike being sent into their universe instead of his. His only way to return to his dimension where the legion is in control of the Mojave Wasteland, is through NCR Mike’s assistance. This is my take on the story so far.
I started playing the mod for the hardcore survival gameplay. But I stayed for the lore. Best part is how "lore friendly" the story is. In numerous points throughout regular new vegas, it gets hinted that a lot of terrible stuff will happen and this mod uses those hints as a basis for its lore.
i wouldn't necessarily say it would be a' more eralistic' version. It depends on if anyone can get their hands on resources and how easily or well, until enough numbers were stable. i literally don't get the part of not eating the tunnelers though. if they keep coming you have plenty of meat and resources.
probably because, like the Ghost People from Dead Money, they have this uncanny resemblance to actual people, which, canonically, they are the product of generations of humans from pre-war adapting to their current enviroment, each generation looking more alien than the last, until nowadays, where they resemble more animals than people, but the human side is still there, only its subtle.
My biggest issue with DUST is how like obnoxiously grim dark and self insistent it is. Partly why I like fallout so much is how campy and science fiction it is. If I wanted this kind of utter hopelessness I’d play like Stalker or Metro,
Realistic in the sense that supplies had pretty much been used up. In the 3+ Fallout games it was rather silly that there was so much pre-war food and supplies to be found. At least in New Vegas and FO4 we saw there was farming and industry going on. In FO3 people were living off of scavenging and hunting only, since it was said you couldn't really grow things there. Even Rivet City barely had the start of hydroponics going. In Dust though, they lost all that. Between radiation storms coming from the Divide and the red mist from Sierra Madre they lost pretty much all of their farm land and animals became harder and harder to find. So they started turning on each other. As far as eating tunnellers, they're still post humans. Aside from any moral implications there's health and disease issues with cannibalism that make it pretty bad long term.
I hope that Zach and Mike go for the long dark ending for dust. It's the hardest escape route I'm my opinion but it's the most fun to, plus given that they did the honest hearts reborn mod it would be more significant to go for the long dark escape route.
I have seen some other play Dust before, and I have pretty mixed feelings before. It is interesting as sort of a continuation that asks the question of, "Every DLC made it seem like their disaster could spread to the Mojave. What would happen if they all did at once?" And it's a pretty realistic depiction of this sort of thing. My issue is that it's just so grim dark. That never was my genre. They basically took a game that became famous for its options for roleplay, dialogue, and branching paths and turned it into a game where you just have to shoot everyone and everything that comes your way, and everything is is hopeless.
Working 2 full time jobs and this is what I look forward to the most in the little time I have to relax. Thankyou guys so much for the entertainment and helping keeping me going
I'm happy to say that Specialist Zach is living his best life in my DUST playthrough up at-- oh... the "Cannibal Camp." Also, where is that Rebreather maggot?!
one of the biggest misconceptions about fallout is that it is a post apocalypse society in wich people are struggling,IT NEVER WAS!people were already rebuilding and comunities were starting to form not to mention nations complete with a goverment system local currency and military, fallout 1 and especially 2 are great examples of that, but of course you cant get that from bethesda games or rather people being dumb and not getting anything at all or paying atention,i shouldnt be surprised tough, people play re 4 and 5 and think that there are zombies that can use guns or drive.
This really does parallel Clannad. Being in the far future, only companion is a robot incarnate of someone close, and makeshift stuff using scrap parts.
Mike probably has a backup time machine some where, in case annykind of this happens and knowing that Zach would most likely breack the timemachine that they usualy use.
oh boy Zach is going to be so pissed when he sees what Vegas has become, I can hear his screams of anger from here, time to get the salty tear cup ready cause lord knows how fast its going to fill up.
So I’m guessing this will be a lead up to new California mod with the only way to fix the time line Zach must go to the beginning or at least an alternate universe version of him Zack with a K.
Is that alternate universe also include a giant sword, magical orbs, magical reactors, summons of god and giant monsters, a flower girl in the slums, a man with a gun for an arm, and bartender that can do a "dolphin blow"?
What I get from the vibe of Dust. Its if the Courier did pretty much everything Wrong in Fallout NV and its DLCs. Raining death doom and destruction on everyone and everything.
According to the dust wiki: DUST takes place after the NCR with the Courier's help beat back the legion across the colorado, however the courier either by influence from house or yes man, betrays the NCR and orders their summary retreat from the Mojave. The NCR however brand the courier a terrorist, causing the mailman to flee NCR persecution by making a home in the old temple of Ulysses out in the Divide, while the NCR takes over the strip and freeside, eventually happens upon the Sierra madre, taking the cloud residue and ghost people there for experiments that were brutal and inhumane and lead to the events of Dust where the cloud breaks free and spreads, allowing for constant nightfall, which further encourages the Tunnelers to do as Ulysses predicted they would, and spread into the Mojave.
I just want to say that fot NCR base that is abandoned, and the notes left behind, I absolutely love storytelling that is only through notes and scenery, no voice acting needed because your mind does all the talking
Im liking this timeline after they finished the bounties 3 storyline. Marko loved the sound of his own voice. Its interesting to see Zach not having a mountain of stimpacks, ammo and many unique guns and armor. The storyline continues but they have been set back heavily in terms of equipment. And mike doesnt have his magical hands to repair and build things. Perhaps they should find him a better robot to be put into with more human shaped fingers in the future.
So how would Mikeburnfire Fallout Dust connect with Mikeburnfire Fallout 4? Would they manage to travel back in time and avoid getting betrayed, and eventually participate in the Second Battle of Hoover Dam and then venture to Boston?
Zach before: INFINITE STIMPACKS! YOU CAN'T KILL ME!
Zach now: *scrounging for scraps while using a gun made of spit, crutches, and desperation*

They basically took a game that became famous for its options for roleplay, dialogue, and branching paths and turned it into a game where you just have to shoot everyone and everything that comes your way, and everything is is hopeless.
Thank you very much for all these Dust contents.
Working 2 full time jobs and this is what I look forward to the most in the little time I have to relax. Thankyou guys so much for the entertainment and helping keeping me going
"I don't feel bad they were brandishing weapons at me!" - The guy walking around two-handing a shotgun all day
Love this season can't wait to see the next one love you guys
See I said this was gonna happen, but did you listen? Noooooo, you just had to shoot me dead and now you’re dealing with the consequences.
Love this content Mike n zach I enjoy it keep it up!
I can't wait to see more of this
I'm happy to say that Specialist Zach is living his best life in my DUST playthrough up at-- oh... the "Cannibal Camp."
Also, where is that Rebreather maggot?!
one of the biggest misconceptions about fallout is that it is a post apocalypse society in wich people are struggling,IT NEVER WAS!people were already rebuilding and comunities were starting to form not to mention nations complete with a goverment system local currency and military, fallout 1 and especially 2 are great examples of that, but of course you cant get that from bethesda games or rather people being dumb and not getting anything at all or paying atention,i shouldnt be surprised tough, people play re 4 and 5 and think that there are zombies that can use guns or drive.
This really does parallel Clannad. Being in the far future, only companion is a robot incarnate of someone close, and makeshift stuff using scrap parts.
"As a robot I'm not allowed to consume alcohol."
Bender from Futurama: More for me!
A post apocalyptic post apocalypse almosts makes you wish for a nuclear winter
Mike probably has a backup time machine some where, in case annykind of this happens and knowing that Zach would most likely breack the timemachine that they usualy use.
I like that they didn't just take all of his stuff away and instead its more like a story being continued.
Man those notes and Zach's reaction really gave me Threads vibes.
Glad that i was notified of this when it came out and not 2 hours later
oh boy Zach is going to be so pissed when he sees what Vegas has become, I can hear his screams of anger from here, time to get the salty tear cup ready cause lord knows how fast its going to fill up.
I just now noticed the red beret on the robotron, neat
If they don't replace the courier with a demented version of zach who only talks to Stanly the shot glass, the emperor will not be pleased
It's surprising how quick on the uptake Zach is with Dust lore.
I'm pretty sure Hell would be more merciful to Zach and Mike than DUST is.
Zach if you accept nurgle's gift you will stop feeling pain
This series is promising, loving it
So I’m guessing this will be a lead up to new California mod with the only way to fix the time line Zach must go to the beginning or at least an alternate universe version of him Zack with a K.
Is that alternate universe also include a giant sword, magical orbs, magical reactors, summons of god and giant monsters, a flower girl in the slums, a man with a gun for an arm, and bartender that can do a "dolphin blow"?
@@WingMaster562 yes but every word has magical tacked onto it so conversations take awhile
@@chamllis strangely enough, that's a detail I don't remember. Is it exclusive to the remake?
I love this play through, I can’t wait for more episodes. I hope it lasts awhile
Really excited to see where this leads
At this point we're at "The Apocalypse had an Apocalypse" stage.
What I get from the vibe of Dust. Its if the Courier did pretty much everything Wrong in Fallout NV and its DLCs. Raining death doom and destruction on everyone and everything.
funny prank
12:32 brought me so much joy to hear.
I think the man in the power armor us enclave since the tesla armor hes wearing is for enclave elites.
Can't wait to see Zach's reaction to Cass being dead
I like to imagine that mike's real body is actually inside the robot
I just want to say that fot NCR base that is abandoned, and the notes left behind, I absolutely love storytelling that is only through notes and scenery, no voice acting needed because your mind does all the talking
I think that NCR soilder tripped and hit every bear trap on the way down the hill. * 19:14 Easy Pete went down swinging
It makes me feel safe hearing Mike crashing on everything behind Zach. He's got our back.
I'm glad Mike put a beret on, otherwise I would never have known who he was :)
Keep up the good work 👍
1:04 Great Bear Granade launcher is a base game weapon fom Lonesome road in nuked i15
There are dead NCR troopers on Black Mountain in the base game, like at that boulder trap, though I think DUST adds new ones.
Can't wait to see what happens in this episode
I understand that he probably wouldn’t have the power armor training, but when I saw him not pick up the tesla armor, I died inside
This is probably the darkest depiction of fallout new vegas ever
Ngl, this real good. Excited for the next episode
in the grimdankness of the not so distant future our hopes lay in the hands of a grumpy army specialist and a servator marine
Back to the past back to the past samurai zach
A foooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolish samurai warrior wielding a magic coconut
You've never eaten a deck of playing cards? You are missing out, Mike!
This mod reminds me off a video of fnv were the couriers sides with Elijah and brings the fog to new vegas
“and a FORK!”
- Zach
“Hey is that a small golden-yellow glow in the distance?”
- any longterm UnOrdinary fan.
(If you know, you know.)
"Hopefully tunneler's are good eatin" oh didn't you know? Tunnel Steaks RULE
This dust mod is epic I’m loving each vid that comes up cannot wait till the next one comes I cannot wait to fine out more about this mod 😊😊😊❤️
