- Extending the building pad back at Diamond Grove, this is my first day back to work after getting over Covid. I'm doing much better but I still get winded easy so I just have to pace myself. This wasn't a big job but I hauled 3 loads of base rock and graded them out to extend the pad to the north for a 5' sidewalk. They wanted it the same height as the floor of the future building. I am also loving this Felling trailer, the double incline beavertail is awesome! It's so much smoother loading the equipment up. I also discovered this trailer is 6" wider than my old trailer which is really going to be nice especially for hauling larger or wider equipment. Obviously the train isn’t gonna be ready to run in early spring... but, the burger shack may be built. I saw the crew working on a pole barn about three miles away. The bad weather hasn’t stopped them!
The maiden voyage for the Felling was a success. Me thinks it’s going to be a game changer.
About those glad hands... We had a utility trailer that our maintenance crew moved around the property for different projects. It only got moved a few times a year. Spiders, wasps and bugs loved to clog the glad hands. So, our maintenance manager made up a short hose with a connection in each end. We’d remove it to move the trailer and replace it when parked. It saved a lot of headaches and made our truck driver a happy man. Might that solve your exposed glad hand problem?

A trick my Dad taught me about stubborn gladhands was to use a tube of Chapstick or
Carmex lip balm to lube the seals and rails to allow them to be easier to connect and
just keep them in the truck/ tool box. Also, they tend to not freeze up in the winter months.

The 102" trailers hit the checkbook a little harder, but I agree they are worth the extra scratch. I bought a 102" tilt deck last year. It still has fenders, but they are drive over fenders. Nothing I have is wide enough to even rub them. I don't have that ELITE money yet. Someday. Cheers Dirty Money.

Good to see you back brother! Looks good and I agree that is one thick pad of rock but it looks great. Congrats on the new trailer, looks stout! I have the same problem on my Kaufman trailer when I have the bucket or grapple on my skid steer. It doesn’t have enough weight on the front to keep it from riding up and then wanting to come down fast when it clears the crest. When I have the cutter attached tho it has enough weight to counterbalance. Take it easy out there!

I use 1/2 inch air quick couplers for my air lines, much easier than glad hands and you don't have to worry about gaskets getting hard and dried out.

Friend of mine said ot took him 3 months to get his wind back-- he's in his 30's and stays in pretty good shape.. so take it slow... You'll get there

@@eliteearthworksllc yeah I hate the rubber ones because they start to rip after a while and you have to change them anyways . Especially if you ever have trouble In the cold and have to put alcohol in the brake system. When you pour the alcohol in the gladhand it dries out the rubber.

Good looking pad! You guys have gotten some serious rain it looks like. I hated having the little stinger on my glad hands when I used to drive. I ended up going in on a Saturday and taking them off because it was such a pain to hook up the trailer every time. Sounds like you've still got quite a bit of chest stuff going on after your bout with covid.

My better half and I both had Covid at the same time, nearly a year ago now, both felt like ass, neither had a fever at all, she lost sense of smell and taste completely.
Glad to see so many people commenting and taking it seriously. No telling how it will hit different people. Not worth the risk.

Nice video - as usual. Its amazing how this Covid has effected everyone a little different. My mother-in-law just passed after 38 days on a ventilator from Covid. Wicked stuff. Another reminder to cherish our loved ones and not take anything for granted. Blessings.

Nice to see some stone being moved around in your usual expert manner!!! I know someone who has the same shortness of breath after COVID and they gave him a small breathing device with plastic cylinders that, as I recall had little plastic balls in them to blow into to exercise and strengthen his lungs. Have you been offered anything like that? He said it really helped him.

move your gladhands and electrical connector up between the brake lights above the marker lights they wont get damaged or dirt in them when dumping off loads

My Friend take it easy get back up in the saddle,my daughter had covid and she was on light duty for a couple of weeks and that was 2 months ago still no smell or taste, Glad your getting over that crap!!
My wife and I had it last year in early August and we still have little to no sense of taste or smell.

Thank you! Yeah I think the cold air makes it worse. It’s got steel pads in the tracks and when it hits the steel rollers it makes that noise. It’s like a dozer lol

That pad looked remarkably flat even before you set up the laser. Did you have much to do to make grade after you checked with the laser? Any plans for a 4-in-1 bucket for the skid steer? It's interesting to compare your skid steer technique with Chris Guins, but like I said, you appear to be managing well. Heck. Right at the end there, it sounded like the pad was sat on that nasty wet dirt. With what they paid for all that rock. could they have bought in some decent clay and used less rock? I'm just an armchair construction type who follows people like yourself, Chris Guins, Andrew Camerata and Mike Dirt Perfect, so I have to guess at this stuff. I hope the post-Covid breathlessness comes right real soon.
Thanks! It was an inch high in a spot or two but didn’t take much to drag it back and track it in. There’s 22 loads of rock in this pad, I couldn’t get them to haul in clay when we started it, they thought the rock was faster. I may try a 4in1 one of these days. I haven’t been real impressed with any of the buckets that Chris is trying so for now I’ll just stick to my tooth bucket lol. Appreciate the comment

Are your dot laws different than Massachusetts I know in the state of Massachusetts when you tie equipment down to trailers your chains have to be crossed so you're pulling the right side of the equipment to the left side of the trailer the same for the opposite side they have to be crossed

I caught the virus from my eye doctor...she wasn't wearing a mask...and I spent 10 misable days in the hospital..doctor got me back..he said that could take 6 Months to a yr to get my lungs back..be safe!!
