In episode 2 of our brand-new mini-series, our three Airgun Masters learn all about the relatively new sport of Target Sprint, which combines air rifle shooting and mid-distance running into one exciting event.
After a closer look at what target sprint entails and the restrictions on the type of air rifle allowed in competition, the Masters engage in a hilarious “boys versus girls” Target Sprint shooting challenge... don’t worry, they all come out of it in one piece!
Throughout this airgunning series, our three airgun masters - Gary Chillingworth, Mick Garvey and Neil Thorneycroft - will be sharing everything they know about their own area of airgun sport expertise, before engaging in a shooting challenge to demonstrate the key aspects of the sport and to see how their accomplices fair when taken out of their comfort zones!
It’s safe to say that running takes all three of these “mature” airgunners out of their comfort zones, so prepare to be entertained! Utilising the fantastic air rifle range at Brook Valley, the Airgun Masters create a mini-Target Sprint course that allows for their various knee-related complaints and proves how versatile this sport really is - you don’t have to run 400m to get involved! It’s perfectly fine to start small and work your way up to the full distance required.
Enjoy episode two and don’t forget to tune in next Friday for episode 3, which will cover long-range plinking and shooting from typical hunting positions.

A well presented video introducing Target Sprint. I particularly liked how you had the video speed up to give the impression you could run Mr. Chilligworth, I applaud you willingness to participate.

Target Sprint looks like a fun and interesting sport. At least for someone a bit younger and much more fit than my self. Great video gentleman.

Great video. Well done everyone. The lady's would of creamed the gentlemen over 400m, but I'm glad they didn't kill the old boys making them run that far

Why are the rifles not carried a la biatholon ?

because running is typically a lot less smoother than skiing so the rifles would be smashing into your back every step

Hey, Gary. Don't see this event ever taking off! Really big handicap with 3 400 meter dashes. Drop it down to 3 40 meter runs
and a lot more folks would be interested and able. Lastly, what's with the single shot hand loading? Is that part of the rules or
are Air Arms magazines that unreliable now? I had a S510 for years with no magazine loading issues.

Hi thanks for the comment! It certainly won't be a sport that appeals to everyone, but the team had a good laugh and lots of fun on the day trying it out... The single loading is part of the rules. All the best :)
