Widescreen mod to extend (not stretch jfc) the view to cover the full modern monitor, graphical touchup mods to fix unintended bugs (the broken blinking/mouths not being visible come to mind) and a touched up/redone translation to better match the intended japanese one, are the only sort of mods/enhancements I want for old games like this. All this to say I mostly agree with your take and completely understand why.
DuckStation is better, and will probably not have audio issues with cutscenes like my PSX Rearmed playthrough using... Retroarch. Only music plays in them, all SFX missing lol
Strange, i played it on Duckstation and tweaked the settings, my version looked like what your PCSX is showing. Mine was nowhere near that smooth and blurry
I'm not certain, but it could be related to the scaling method. I used bilinear scaling with nearest neighbour texture filtering on 1x box downsampling. 4x internal resolution.
It's super easy... you can even play ffx and ffxii on ps2 emulator with a phone with zero problem. I even played mario rpg remake on the switch emulator when it was released and it was flawless
@@mathieudoucet1446 i have it now thanks to some searches, the only problem is that the walls are broken a bit so when im moving my character is actually about a goot or so from where hes supposed to be. Example when cloud finds the restore materia b4 scorpion boss hes moving outside the bridge and in the air but overall its awesome. I personally like the mods on the app too. I also discovered it is on the switch but its fill is small like on the ps4 port.
I prefer the crispy pixelated chunkiness of raw emulation myself because it looks sharp and rightfully dated for this sort of game. Also kind of funny I just found this video, I spent the past couple of days debating on how I'm to do a complete playthrough of this game - weighing my options on what platform I aught to do it on and I ultimately decided to play it on my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro using the Duckstation emulator, all for that crispy chunkiness on a bright portable screen. Just the way I like it :B
At least it's not the og ff7 with slow loading and on a small crt like we all experienced it at first. Me and my fiancée are doing a full ff7 marathon of the game spin offs mivie ect. leading up to the release of rebirth so hope your bro enjoys it
The human eye can't see past 320x200 at 24fps anyways.
Then why can I spot the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps?
Maybe check your eyesight you might have bad vision
@@astrths1228relax, he's just joking, I know him 😂
@@astrths1228you're not very bright mate
Duckstation + Composite shader = bliss

I find that CRT shaders usually do the best job at smoothing out the graphics for that authentic "playing games after school on an old TV" vibe.
Yeah, I'll use a CRT shader as well. Looks pretty nice and authentic.

I like to use the swanstation core (based on duckstation) on RetroArch with crt shaders and/or bezels
Play what you like, people get caught up on "omg this version isn't the best says random person number 3" what will they think of me?

I just tried downloading this game on Duckstation for both my samsung galaxy s8 and my chromebook but both proved incapable. Is it at all possible?

have u tried the new threat mod? is really good
I have not. Maybe I'll try it in a future playthrough, this time the aim is to play the game like it's 1997.

Yeah, especially with the proper aging PSX hardware. Hope you guys enjoy your marathon!
@The_Real_Kuxel we will its her first time for all ff7
duckstation looks way more choppy like a bad slide show.
There is literally zero difference...
I disagree, the edges and the textures on the left are way too crisp, the duckstation output is closer to what you would have experienced on a crt tv.
