    Before I saw this video I'd always felt pleats were too intimidating and confusing, but you made it all so clear and easy to understand. Thank you so much!

    I am wanting to make a skirt with 100% cotton that is directional. I have been looking at circle skirts and panel skirts. I think making a pleated skirt will help keep the direction of the print going in the same direction. I am feeling confident I can make a skirt according to your tutorial. However, I just want to make sure I will still get satisfactory results if I *don't* cut on the bias but on the straight grain to maintain the direction of the print.

      @@blueyucca011 Hi, you don’t have to cut bias. You can cut pleated skirt with straight grain. Nothing is wrong. I tried to explain that different fabric and different cutting will make different falling. But there’s no right or wrong.

    Thanks so much. You are taking me back to the very first skirt I made in home economics class. It was a knife pleated skirt. I didn't remember how to draft it. But your tutorial came just in time. You are a treasure. Thanks for all you do.

    This was so helpful. I have a pleated skirt I want to alter (need to remove skirt from waistband, make waistband bigger, re-pleat skirt, attach skirt to new waistband) but wasn't sure what type of box pleat it was. I hadn't gotten to it yet but this video conveniently took all of the mystery out of it.

    When you cut on the bias do the pleats sit better? I’m making a shirt dress and would like to put 2 or 3 pleats either side of the placket as I want the skirt to flow well.

    Very helpful, thank you ! I have a little question, why does this skirt need to be cut bias ? Wouldn't it work on the grain ?

  • @alexandrahenson2442

    Did this pattern still work not on the bias? I'm thinking of making skirts in needlecord. Thank you.

      It will work both bias and straight grain. If you work with corduroy fabric, I’d cut on straight grain.

    Hello, I’m a beginner at sewing, and I can figure out how to make all my patterns from this. However I’m not sure how to sew it together really. Is there anywhere I can look for instruction on that?

    Could this be cut not on the bias as well?

    • @PatternStudio101
      @PatternStudio101  11 месяцев назад

      Yes! But 2 things! When you stitch the side seams, be careful not to stretch out. Once it's done, hang the skirt a few days before finishing the hem. Let it grow the hem and trim it.

  • @Bobozzznana
    @Bobozzznana 3 месяца назад

    Thanks for sharing. It is an understandable tutorial, however, the uneven hemming is not just about how fabric cut in bias. You missed drafting the waistline that why this pattern hem was uneven. I would recommend the beginners start with the basic block skirt pattern first.

    Is there any difference if you cut it in bias or not?

    • @PatternStudio101
      @PatternStudio101  10 месяцев назад +2

      The skirt will hang differently. One is more straight, the other is more like flared-like. It's just your preference.

    How much meter need for pleated long skirt

    • @PatternStudio101
      @PatternStudio101  10 месяцев назад +1

      Depending on the fabric width. If you can place both front & back in the width, then you need only skirt length. But if they don’t fit, then you need double the amount of skirt length.
