  • Based on the bust cup size, the dart width should be different. So the dart can make enough room for the breast. In this video, I explain how to calculate the cup sizes with 2 different bust measurements. You will also learn how to determine dart width based on the cup size.

    👩 About me 👩
    My name is Jin Kim and I have been a professional pattern maker for over 20 years.
    While I had one-on-one teaching besides my full-time work, I could teach only a few people. So, I created a RUclips channel in 2021 to reach out to more people so that they can get benefits from my experience.
    This channel is all about pattern makings. You’re in the right place if you are a young professional or a fashion student who wants to improve your pattern-making skills.

    WOW! for the first time I understand what all the bust measurements mean! Thank you so much!😊

    Great tip. These measurements are easier to take accurately than front and back waist length at the neck point. The difference is pretty close either way.

    Great tip. I’m going to try it out while drafting my next pattern. If the difference between the bust and underbust is 7,8,9,10 etc, do I use the 25% calculation?

    Thanks for sharing but what I learnt from different patterns makers is that bra cup size is determined by the difference between full bust and under bust but garment pattern cup size is determined by difference between upper bust and full bust, there is no need for measurement of under bust in garment pattern making cup size.

      Measuring under the bust is more accurate as no breast tissue is involved, especially important for bustier womem.

      Thanks Ma'am for this information. It is very useful to me. How do you do the calculation to get the waist dart

    • @sus8e462
      @sus8e462 4 месяца назад

      Agree for most (US) garments, but this is about the darts which rely on the rib cage. And if you are making a strapless fitted top (such as a dress bodice), then the under bust measurement is even more critical.
