I cant believe it took me 4 years to realize that the Duck Guy being "canned" was a visual pun of being "canned" in the industry. Like when a TV show gets "canned" it means it got cancelled or taken off the air. Or if an actor gets canned it means they are kicked off the show. Duck Guy gets canned because he broke the rules of what to do on set so he was kicked off the show.
the fact that the duck was so uncomfortable and aware makes this episode the most unsettling. it was crazy how he didn’t like how the foods were coming up behind him and touching him, he was so aware the whole time, like he knew he would die.
Delirium He was eaten alive by a can, then was canned both literally and figuratively. Then in the end his dead body was eaten by yellow guy. You can also see an 5:28 his remains are on a plate

this episode is the most disturbing one in my opinion the whole thing about the food and stuff makes me uncomfortable and at the end he literally ate his friend

I think this is by far the scariest episode - Duck's increasing panic and discomfort - The meat guy's whole demeanor and tone of voice makes me insanely uncomfortable somehow - The gore, obviously - "You shouldn't eat food from a stranger's plate" - The random long pauses throwing you off - The weird improvised sounding rhythm and lyrics The whole thing adds up and it's actually unnerving af
I think this is by far the funniest episode -Duck’s sound effects, especially 3:57 -Yellow Guy’s mouth stuffed with organs looks so funny to me idk why -The meat guy knocking the human chart down, and then the chart makes a perfectly cut scream -The teachers (Especially the fridge) singing normally while Duck is suffering Edit: I also came up with some other reasons. -They’re very touchy with Duck guy -The meat guy’s feet tapping and speech patterns
The scene at the end with Yellow guy sitting in the dark, fat and has feathers sticking out of his mouth, Yellow guy looking around confused and scared as he realises what he's just done. It really breaks my heart
3:31 my favorite joke in all of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared is just this anatomical diagram revealing it's a living creature by letting out this awful goblin-esque growl of approval

there's a good theory that's it's all red guy's dream and they're in his imagination, so if you're going by that it makes sense. without red guy who left to the 'real world' (as we see at the end) it's completely diffrent almost like an alternate universe idk what i'm saying anymore i need to sleep
Love how being creative, travelling to different dimensions, getting old and dying, giving away his home address, eating raw chicken and murdering bees is fine, but eating healthy is where Duck draws the line.
This absolutely traumatized me as a child. Anytime I even considered watching it again to try and overcome my fear, I was always hit with this overwhelming feeling of existential dread. I now have an innate fear of puppets.
Well, obviously he didn’t know for a fact, otherwise he would leave the set earlier. But looking back on the episode his suspicion from the start gave me anxiety😭

The one on the phone was Red Guy, he was warning them that they could go without those songs because the kill them. Red guy was self aware, the duck came self aware too and that's why he died.
I love how unlike most of the other DHMIS videos, this one doesn’t start out nice and innocent at first and go horribly wrong 3 minutes into the video, this one is wrong as soon as it starts.

Only now did I realize that in the last episode that Yellow Guy's said his favorite food is spaghetti and in this episode he's forced to eat spaghetti made of his friends
This video specifically is the peak of internet horror to me, nothing else reaches those heights with such a high level of production, there may be stuff I love more in terms of story or aesthetic but nothing is as scary
From the beginning, he's being poked with a sharp steak fork and grabbed.. he's in danger from the start, and he knows it its so well put together. they've captured a nightmare
I really love and hate how they made the duck become more and more panicked and aware of what is about to happen. He keeps getting more and more anxious and more and more angered until he was consumed. Sad to see my favorite character like this
This series is a psychological horror masterpiece. Red Guy and Duck have been a bit more cautious of their environment... and as their awareness kept growing, it became apparent that they must be dealt with... The Red Guy is absent and on closer observation, he's always been more cautious... but somehow he's not present... or like Duck was he processed in a can... with their yellow friend eating them unaware... WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN
I have a theory that the three main characters are maybe in a coma or limbo. The coma theory suggests that they’re connected via some sort of neurolink that’s trapping them in this world that they came close to escaping in the computer episode. My limbo theory suggests that they all died and they’re trapped between our world and the afterlife. Yellow guy represents denial, duck represents anger and bargaining, and red guy represents depression. They each represent 1/2 of the 5 stages of grief. They’re becoming more aware which will eventually lead to the acceptance stage, and that’s where “wakey wakey” comes in. In the leaked episode we see the trio fully assimilated into this world so they must’ve reached acceptance and entered the after life.
I prefer the matpat theory, red guy si the creator of this show and the father of the yellow the producer, red have the dream of make a kids show but the producer just do what he wanted, maybe duck being killed is a represetation of him being eaten of a contrac or something more figurativery
When so much horror nowadays boils down to "something kid-friendly turned evil" like Five Nights at Freddy's or Poppy Playtime, I always return to this episode of this series to see how incredibly well it can be done. Even small things like Steak constantly jabbing Duck with a fork just make the experience unnerving. Duck's increasing discomfort and panic by the end also add a lot to the horror, props to whoever voiced him!
That's what most people talk about this episode, why is it that a good chunk of the time when people say "why is no one talking about X" that's the most frequently mentioned thing in actual conversation?
There is something so amazing about watching a story and having absolutely no idea what direction it's going to take at any moment. That is truly rare.

This is the scariest and most disturbing DHMIS. For a while after watching this, I got freaked out when the phone rang. Aaah, good old memories and trauma
I still think this is good, but whenever I want to watch DHMIS, I avoid this one. It’s just something about a massive can eating a ducks organs and how yellow guy actually ends up eating duck. It’s really good and well made, but I find it creepy
i think another super creepy thing about this series is the redundancy of the teachers’ lessons. like, they always contradict themselves and the lessons are nonsensical and inane. it’s just unsettling :•)
Yeah the teaching gets worse and more nonsensical every time, like they’re hastily thrown together. The teachers in this episode strike me the same way as the 6th episode when that machine creates a bunch of awful useless characters who practically speak gibberish. Like they’re just a distraction to keep the main characters busy. I find that super interesting
That's how a lot of children's education is, especially about nutrition, as a lot of it changes rather quickly or contradicts itself, and all of it is purged of "unnecessary detail." And ultimately it's all a lie. The first of the bird's flash-forwards suggests that he died on the operating table and none of this inane advice did anything to preserve his health.
a common pattern that this series has is that the songs only become creepy when something appears to irritate the singers. the drawing pad starts when yellow tries to move ahead of the song the clock gets angry when duck starts asking questions the butterfly is a bit different because it's a cult but things dont go off the rails until yellow "overuses" love the computer becomes enraged by red trying to push him away and now these food people are aggravated by duck calling out their flawed logic.
The drawing pad is the only one who seems to be disturbed when reality broke down. "Now let's all agree to never be creative again..." But it does start to get creepy around those points. Well, blatantly creepy, ignoring the uncanniness of prior events. Sketch: "Woah there friend, you might need to slow down..." Tony: "Ree Ree Ree Ree REE REE REE REE REE REE REE REE!!" Shrignold: "You see? Everyone has a special one!" Colon: "DON'T TOUCH MeEeEeEeE!!!!" Healthy Band: "Doot Doot doo doo doooo! Doot Doot doo doo doooo! Do it healthy!" Lamp: "Or you can have a dream about drowning in oil." "Oh, looks like somebody's having a BAD DREAM!"
It honestly just resembles the real world. Your "taught" things but can't ask or learn another way. It also is the same with logic, you can't question others logic without making them mad,so essentially this is what we learn but it shows the twisted way
I have seen people say stuff like "How is Duck alive in the new season? (The wakey wakey trailer)" and well I kinda have a theory, Duck doesn't actually die in this episode, the part where duck is "canned" is actually just a metaphor for Duck being Canned from the show, a term used for kicked off
And the giant cans who eat his guts represent Roy exploiting his image on different products (in this case, meat pies) now that he isn't on the show anymore.
I was always horrified of these teachers, coming back after 9 years, they are still as unsettling as they were when I was a teen. I love this show even now, nothing changed, and I love it
Something no one rlly seems to mention is that the song in this episode sounds a LOT like they were making it up on the spot? With how simple the rhythm is compared 2 all the other songs and how they all just keep singing "do do dododo" it makes me think Red Guy "leaving" in the last episode set them off course and they had 2 rush the next lesson Edit: the lyrics themselves are REALLY simple too, when your looking for it it really does feel like they're just making it up as they go
You can really tell this is the episode where everything falls apart without red guy. The lyrics are a mess, contradicting themselves often, and basic as if they’re being improvised. Product placement also goes crazy all of Roy’s food products are on full display, and yellow guy and duck seem more miserable than ever. Without red guy the show lost its creator and it’s falling apart without him.

Red Guy and Duck have been a bit more cautious of their environment... and as their awareness kept growing, it became apparent that they must be dealt with...
The Red Guy is absent and on closer observation, he's always been more cautious... but somehow he's not present... or like Duck was he processed in a can... with their yellow friend eating them unaware...
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN
I have a theory that the three main characters are maybe in a coma or limbo. The coma theory suggests that they’re connected via some sort of neurolink that’s trapping them in this world that they came close to escaping in the computer episode. My limbo theory suggests that they all died and they’re trapped between our world and the afterlife. Yellow guy represents denial, duck represents anger and bargaining, and red guy represents depression. They each represent 1/2 of the 5 stages of grief. They’re becoming more aware which will eventually lead to the acceptance stage, and that’s where “wakey wakey” comes in. In the leaked episode we see the trio fully assimilated into this world so they must’ve reached acceptance and entered the after life.

When so much horror nowadays boils down to "something kid-friendly turned evil" like Five Nights at Freddy's or Poppy Playtime, I always return to this episode of this series to see how incredibly well it can be done. Even small things like Steak constantly jabbing Duck with a fork just make the experience unnerving. Duck's increasing discomfort and panic by the end also add a lot to the horror, props to whoever voiced him!

Something no one rlly seems to mention is that the song in this episode sounds a LOT like they were making it up on the spot? With how simple the rhythm is compared 2 all the other songs and how they all just keep singing "do do dododo" it makes me think Red Guy "leaving" in the last episode set them off course and they had 2 rush the next lesson

You can really tell this is the episode where everything falls apart without red guy. The lyrics are a mess, contradicting themselves often, and basic as if they’re being improvised. Product placement also goes crazy all of Roy’s food products are on full display, and yellow guy and duck seem more miserable than ever. Without red guy the show lost its creator and it’s falling apart without him.
