If you think about it,drago casually took off his cloak to fight stoic,he could have expected to get it later,but this leads me to believe either he had killed a lot of night furies MEANING he could discard of it when needed,meaning that in the land he had come from there could be more night furies,perhaps a night fury nest?But it could also mean that it's not even a night fury cloak?Well,that's all,u probs won't read this anyway.
I think it was more due to him trying to lessen the weight he was bearing so he could be quicker in the duel. Stoic was a man who survived a burning building being dropped on him and fought (and presumably killed) dragons with his bare hands on the regular before the fall of the Red Death. He was not an opponent to fight carelessly. Just my thoughts:))
in the how to train your Dragon Christmas special, hiccup gave toothless a tail part so he can fly on his own but toothless left they came back
On the dragon hunter ship in Race to the edge there is a bloody fist. And there's Drago can you do a theory on this please?

I would like to make the theory of drago's cape being a night fury skin stronger by mentioning the end of the first movie; when hiccup and toothless are fighting against the queen, and hiccup is falling unconscious in the fire, toothless was able to catch and protect him from the heat by making a burrito with his wings around him, that proves his skin is a shield against fire, also i dont think other species of dragons have that fireproof skin, cause seconds before that scene, toothless made the queen's wings on fire to make her stop flying, her wings burned to dust...
What dya think ? Are there other fireproof dragons with dark skins ? (i know nightmares can handle it, but they are usually colored right ?)
Also i would like to mention toothless doesnt seem to know how to swim if i remember well, but thats something else (with the hot area theory)
ALSO x2, toothless has a blue fireball as attack, blue fire is way more hot than normal fire, this could also means a lot (about nightfury's skin ability or even the hot area theory idk)

Erin Cumiskey dragons aren’t fireproof on the inside, as Hiccup noticed in the first movie, and to add on to that, I think that well, yes dragon scales are fireproof, I believe the bare minimum for that is for it to withstand its own fire, like for example, Night Fury scale can withstand a Night Fury’s plasma blast

The only thing you are wrong about is that in the movie hiccups didn't meet toothless later, he actually went looking for him to I'm sure make his father proud of him, and you know that hiccups then took pity for toothless that ended up in a friendship. If I'm wrong, you can say what I said wrong and correct me.
Do you mean why was toothless up north? Because if HFM is right then whispering deaths are in a territory battle with night Furys so I think he's family was killed by whispering deaths so he fled and got caught up with red deaths pack and was forced to get food
Hello Future Me, I'm glad that you responded do several questions from your viewers. However, I raised raised a few good points I would like to see you discuss. In my response to your first video (about 1 month before today: 3/21/17) I practically proved that Drago's cloak is not a Night Fury hide. If you compare the shapes, sizes, and patterns of the scales on his cloak to Toothless's skin, you will see just how different the two are.
Also consider that any color the cloak may have previously had may have been burned off from Dragons spewing fire at him.
I do, however, agree that Toothless probably came from a mainland, as I described in more detail in my response to your first theory video. I also think part of the reason why Night Furies are so hard to find is because they could be cave dwellers (consider his echolocation)
For those of you who haven't seen the Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk, and Race to the Edge series, it is shown in several episodes that Toothless has echolocation abilities, which in the real world are often used by bats, who are cave dwellers themselves.

Hey again! I did find your comment and replied. You raised some really good points - some of which I hadn't considered before. I was really impressed. On the cloak, I raised that we don't know what adult night fury skins look like, and that when skinned, the scales likely became more apparent with the loss of natural oils that give Toothless his sleek look (giving it the look it had). On the grey colour - the discolouration is even (where if it was because of fire, it would have been uneven). Age, however, would've faded the night fury jet black evenly to the bluey-grey we see. I honestly think that you do have some points. I do believe that Toothless is from a warmer climate. But I don't think that Bludvist's cloak is made from Nightfury skin. The "recorded" hight/length of a nightfury is 26' . In comparicing with hiccup who's 6,1' tall. Now look at Bludvist who's 6'10'. Looking closely at toothless, it'd be possible but because he is not a full grown dragon yet they might get bigger. If they don't do that, look at the Boulder-classed dragons. Gronckle,Cave crasher,Catastrophic Quaken and other kinds like Grump are made to contain and be able to withstanding extreem heat. Gronckle come in multible colors, even darker versions so Grump might have a color rich family aswell. Nog look at the scales on Bludvist's cloak. those are way to big for most of toothless's scales. The only scales on toothless's body that are big enough to match the cloak are on his whiskers/horns , paws and snout. So not a lot. ( Again , toothless is not fully grown yet )
Besides, knowing that Bludvist's family was murdered by more than just 1 dragon. It's possible that there are dragons just as big as the red death or screaming death are out there at the warmer side of the planet. But isn't this odd? If Bludvist came from so far away and he controles and abuses dragons, why he didn't brought any new dragons with him? Besides Gruff the Hobblegrunt Stalker type dragon, I'd not see other species. And Hobblegrunt's are from the colder climates, so not faw from where hiccup lives.
However, I do believe that Toothless is a species that's in early years on their own or he was left behind. Maybe he got onto a boat or got disorrientated during a storm or a death song. No matter how toothless ended up near Berk, he wasn't the first one. The book of dragons is older than the chief and they probably knew about them before hiccups birth. Hiccup is about 15 years in the 1th movie and about 19 in the second, where his mother states that Toothless was around hiccups age, and not fully grown. But there are warmer places around Berk. Remember the Fireworm? Tootless is a species that's able to use an echo underground to see, making tight turns and is small enough to fit though gaps and narrow caves. What if they live usually underground and hunt through the night ? Because he is thought as a stricke class dragon ( Like the skrill and Triple Styke )
Bludvist could've killed a more dangerouse kind of dragon, skills are known are war dragons or maybe even something bigger. It's the man that abused and took a Bewilderbeast (Cup) under his command. I mean how could people be afraid of something they've never seen with their own eyes. People of Berk didn't trusted dragons and they litterly had to see it for themselves. So take a Screaming death for example. It has it's weaknesses and people are terrified by only just hearing it's scream or seeing a tunnel from it. What if he took down one of those without problem? People would fear him and follow him "he is the one who killed that monster ". Night furies can be scary but they seem to prefer to take flight away from a battle , rather than attacking out of the blunt. If Toothless was as dangerous as a screaming death or even a mounsterous nighmare, Hiccup would probably be plasma blasted far away from the living world the moment he saw him.
Tootless species is indeed hunted down, but probably more as a trophy. Why? Because it's appearently hard to catch one in the first place. Hiccup cought Toothless by accident if I remember correctly nobody should shoot with eyes closed atleast.
I'm just throwing out some thoughts.. maybe some of these things are of use to you,maybe not. Let's hope that we'll find out some more about our beloved Night Fury in the near future

I can't remember if it was on the show or in a movie but hiccup says "It snows for 9 months of the year and hails for 3." which means they are in a colder climate. Skullcrusher was found on Dragons edge which is outside the Accapello, so this may be why he heats the ground.

In the first one the tiny dragons do the same before going to sleep.

in one of the series or movies hiccup and toothless were hearing nightfury noises but when they landed it was just dragon hunters using a skeleton to make night fury noises in order to lure them into a trap. Does anyone know if it was a nightfury skeleton. I think it was on "Dream Works Dragons, Riders Of Berk" (I think that was the name of the series)
There were no Dragon Hunters in RoB and no Night Fury skeletons. Just Alvin and Mildew using a prop made on Outcast Island and sounds to draw Hiccup and Toothless closer for a trap.

One thing to point out: dark colors absorb more heat and maybe he heats the ground before he goes to sleep so he can warm up in his COLD CLIMATE.
Jamie Macintosh yep gotta reach homeostasis with the environment, coming from a hot climate in order to reach homeostasis in a cold environment its normal for an animal to try to warm up the area they will sleep, either by piling things on top of where they sleep to escape the cold, digging to create a buffer, or like lizards finding a rock thats been heated by the sun
I am interested about how can a dragon get so close to the sound barrier without being hurt.
Second, I really freak out all the time trying to figure out the location and time of the arcipelago were Berk is located. I've heared Gobber mentioning the Roman Empire in the first movie, this confirms that the date is 1010 a.C. but still doesn't give clues on were Berk is.
On google maps there is Bear Island which looks very similar but is too north and has no trees nor arcipelago.
In the httyd series race to the edge I think there's a episode where hiccup and toothless find night fury bones and skulls on a broken down ship
I'm not sure; those were stated to be "dragon bones," not any specific species. I can't really remember what they looked like, though.

Hello Future Me Ahoyhoy there , fellow RUclipsrino! mayhaps this will assist your theory. in Race to the Edge, I believe episode one, there's a dungeon filled with dragon bones. if you look closely, mayhaps you'll find some Night Fury shaped bones in the scene.
here's a theory. So I've grown to like the night furry dragon kin. I actually believe your theory. But here's a kicker. What if night furrys did belong in the arcapelico (not sure if I spelled right). But we're going extinct. So being the smartest dragon kind they fled to either eastern Europe or even west to the americas. In eastern Europe they stayed night furrys but I also believe that they evolved. Let's take a look at a dragon from school of dragons and rise of berk and my personal favorite. The sand wraith. They are very similar looking to the night furry just more spikes and maybe more rougher scales. They however live in warm climates like beaches or deserts. That would explain the disappearance of the night furrys as they could be evolving for hotter temperatures and also ways to escape humans from slaughtering them.
You're probably right about the Sand Wraith! It's probably linked evolutionarily to the night fury, but I think it's more likely that the night fury actually evolved FROM the sand wraith for a couple of reasons. Strike Class dragons are known as the smartest, quickest, and most highly evolved of the dragons. For the sand wraith, which is a Tidal Class, to come from the night fury would mean the night fury is actually DE-volving, not evolving. Secondly, species typically move from hotter climates closer to the equator to colder climates, not the other way around. It makes more sense that the Sand Wraith is an earlier evolution of the night fury, and the night fury evolved when it moved a little more northern (say to eastern or southern Europe). That's a really awesome theory though! I reckon I'll make a video on it...

Alyssa Hardy I think the nightfuries will most likely be black. after all, they said in httyd 1 that toothless only ever came out at night. so it is to be assumed that they hunt at night and being black would help stay hidden in the darkness. but that's just my theory on it
he did get with her in season two of "race to the edge" and both of their dragons get along very well and are VERY CLOSE, too close to be just friends even closer to best friends. so you are actually right

The Book of Dragons was written by Berkians for Berkians. Plenty of people outside the Archipelago probably know about night furies :)
I think that night furies are native towards the east where drago comes from, seeing as how they heat the ground and many other reasons that you mentioned. Skullcrusher does heat the ground when he sleeps, however, skullcrusher seems to have lived on the edge, which is north-east of berk, this proves that the dragons that are native to regions that are east of berk have developed a sort of instinct to heat up the ground before they sleep. I think the reason that toothless was found on berk is because when he was finally old enough to leave his parents because night furies seem to prefer to live alone, he ended up travelling west, and therefore, he was caught up and enslaved by the red death. This proves that there could still be a healthy population of night furies living in eastern europe.
His cloak could just be like charred Monstrous Nightmare scales because look at what he does with his cloak, uses it as a shield from fire.

Okay, you just addressed my issue with Drago not telling everyone in the Barbaric Archipelago. I'm on board now! (This is in reference to the comment I left on your first HTTYD video.)

You should do a video on how EXACTLY Hiccup lost his leg. There is the implied theory that it was burnt off but I feel that more of him would have suffered the same kind of damage had that been the case. The more well-known theories are:
1) It was burnt off in the fire before Toothless could get to him
2) Toothless wouldn't have time to grab him with his paws or get his wings around him. So instead he would have to grab him with his teeth as his gummy jaws would be too slippery thus causing him to either potentially bite Hiccup's leg off unintentionally or partially shatter his leg
3) The impact of them landing shattered Hiccups lower shin area and because of the lack of medicinal advancements back then they just chopped off his leg/foot. (Like in the episode where Gobber takes over for Gothi when she leaves with Hiccup and the gang to the Island with the Snow Wraith and he tries to cut off that dude's foot who just had a splinter)
I came to question the burn theory when I thought about how Hiccup had said "You just had to make it even bud" in the 2nd HTTYD when talking to Valka. It's because of that that I believe that it's because of an action Toothless took that may have led to Hiccup losing a leg/foot.
ANYWAYS, I'm rambling my apologies, I would love to see you do an analysis of that and come up with your own opion and evidence and what not (I'm sure your's would be much more detailed and convincing.)

My favorite dragon is the sand wrath
night furies might have lived in underground volcanic areas because of their echo location skill which lets them se in pitch black conditions.
(About the heating the ground) If you watch the tv shows, there is a kind of extended clip (like the one from the second movie) of stoic thinking back to/ remembering Drago, in the end of the clip on the show it shows Drago and someone else ride away on what looks to be the same species as skullcrusher (Stoics dragon)... if Drago came from the south and is riding these dragons, maybe they also originated in the south... which would explain skullcrusher heating the ground like toothless did...

The bad guy probably had a night fury skin in, because all the time in the movies and shows, toothless protects hiccup from fire without a scratch.

Have you factored in the race to the edge show? I feel like I've seen lots of hints but i can't remember exactly
in the first movie one of the first things that was said is are there any night furies as in plural like they saw multiple of them before
In the flash back of dragons 2 about drago, drago said “let’s see how you do without me” then a attack began. Maybe he planned this and hunted dragons back then. Also, I think that is the same skin/cloak that he had
In the movie after the flashback so maybe toothless and the night fury did get hunted by him
I think his day is alive because he survived from being burned by fire when he is talking to the bad guy in the second movie

i was doing a bit of research and saw that Drago's dragon skin had a blueish tint that wasn't light enough to be a alpha night fury and not dark enough to be a normal one. The only problem was that i could not find a dragon close to that shade. is it possible that it could be a new dragon that originates from the same location as the night furys?
There is a sene in the show that looks like all the lenses combined with toothless fire will show his history
I think toothless was an egg left behind or a "stone" up for trade. Either way I think he got separated from his homies by accident or was stolen. I think the 3rd movie could either be about them finally spotting another night fury and go searching for it outside the archipelago. and/or maybe hiccup finally comes up with a way for toothless to fly without him and both have to deal with his sudden "freedom".

According to my calculations Drago did not kill most of the Night Fury’s. As we learn in the 3rd film Grimmle has killed most of them, but he also says Night Fury’s don’t really like it too cold, meaning they live in the south. But in race to the edge we find out that Krogen is working for a mysterious guy from the NORTH. AKA Drago Bludfist. Hello Future Me says that Toothless was a lost hatchling that was left up north, so the only other Night Fury that would be up in the north would be Toothless’s brother or sister which skin is probably on Drago’s cloak. Another reason why Toothless would be able to stand up to the alpha and Drago, because he was mad.
I would recommend looking into the books. I know they are vaaaaaastly different, but it could help piece some things together. Like the fire thing. In the book toothless was obsessed with fire (a lot of dragons were) and many prefered the heat since it actually calmed them.
Of course there is no way to tell if the book will have certain similar aspects but it could definitely help :)

Hey dude, I just saw your videos yesterday and I just wanted to comment and say good job! I also have some questions and a theory. First, if your Australian, do you have to twist the video upsidedown when you edit so we can see it properly? LOL. And if a Skrill has not " charged " and is not in a storm, does that mean it cannot shoot lightning? And finally, I think you should have a tournament between the night fury and the Skrill.
I think The Night Fury is the center of the Dragons because I saw in the Dragon Eye (the one in Dragons: Race to The Edge TV show) and I think he is a Titan Wing
