Yea they pretty much have to or people would rightly get upset. Interesting thing to note is at some point in the game we will very likely see the person responsible for that hierarchy because she is known to be very active and a worthy sacrifice pretty much guarantees one of her avatars will show up. She is a god/demon that you would never want offend or insult because there is a good chance she may just appear to personally smite you.
What I like about this game is that even for someone like me , who has 0 knowledge about the lore , or even how everything functions within the bg world. It's still fun and engaging to play.
I did this a couple plays ago and it was hilarious, I had the idea because I remembered them being hostile to me at first when I played on patch 5 so I figured "what the heck" and used disguise self as female drow and I chose slightly different options than you did but in the end the result was the same and I just remembered laughing so hard after succeeding all the rolls. So glad Larien is writing in all these different possibilities it's looking to be a great game so I'm excited.
hold up, third son's get sacrificed to lolth - going by the drizzt books. which i thought were cannon. no hate just -odd...also, thank you for uploading :)
Then the 4th son becomes the 3rd... Nothing is odd about it. Just like the death of Drizzt's older brother saved him. Drizzt is also a 3rd son and alive. Plus, it is not hard to imagine different circumstances in which families just won't follow this rule.
Interesting remarks! @@vladi1Z You can even use deception on him (1:58) and tell him the other heirs died, saying he'll be welcomed back (maybe implying that it's now safe?). Maybe he was able to leave instead of dying?
@@melivysilverroot Good to know, thanks. Then it is almost certain it is the case - He isn't the overall 3rd son, he is 3rd *living* son, as drow tend to count.
I think that Drizz’t was a special case, and Matron Malice did it as a special sacrifice to afford herself additional favour with Lolth in destroying a rival house. I don’t recall ever hearing that it was a universal practice- could be wrong though
Yea they did a booboo even Drizzy still called himself 2end son even though he was a 3erd son but his older brother who was a mage got back stabbed by his other brother, his sister was mentally linked to him during a raid and lost the link meaning he died so they stopped the sacrifice since now drizzt was now the 2end son

Ah so he doesn't attack you if you are a female drow. It seems like drows get so many better dialogue options in this game. I think there should be some sort of downside to all of that.
@@mousegod6791 this is a good point to make. For the most part we're in a pretty wild place with many evil aligned characters, like Kahga who welcomes a drow, or the goblins instantly welcoming a drow, or the underdark, etc. I'm sure it will have less advantage in the city, especially considering the flaming fists at the burned down inn were ready to fight you if you failed the speech roll.

Hmm. So I know we get these tags if we play a *female* Drow. I wonder if there are any tags planned in future encounters now that we can play nonbinary Drow? Since their society is so strictly stratified based on gender, I wonder how they react to someone who decides all this binary nonsense is silly.
Probably not. That's the problem with setting up stuff like that in a world where genders can determine what your lot in life is. It just doesn't fit. Better and easier to just keep the choices as male or female and move on. The number of people who'd be mad about that decision is low and those who'd stop playing the game over something like that, probably wouldn't have stuck with it for long anyway.
@@spectralassassin6030 I mean, it's possible there will be non-binary dialogue tags, since elves especially according to lore have a long history of vague and fluid genders. But I think it wouldn't come up in Drow society. It's a matriarchy, not a non-binaryarchy, I don't think non-binary drow would be considered higher rank than males; everyone's kind of crap if you aren't female, at least by drow standards.
Well, if it worked how it does irl it takes about one second to recognize male or female no matter how you identify so that's how you'd be recognized and treated. Probably body type.
I love how baldurs gate uses the canon culture of the races , the hierarchy of the drow i mean
If they didn't they might as well make another game

You can access this dialogue if your character has a the Disguise Self spell also.

Drows can push goblins around and other drows if you play as a female, but pretty much everyone else is hostile towards them.

Bardur?

the scale on your character face that modded ?
No, its from draconic bloodline sorcerer class. Playing this class gives you the option to add scales
