As Minthara would say, real third son energy from him.
Don't the Drow sacrifice sons after the second one?
@@nonameronin1You've almost got it.
@@nonameronin1 If I remember my Drow lore. All male children after the 3rd son are sacrificed to Lolth. Drizzt Do'Urden was an exception because his brother was murdered on the same day he was born. So he was given a pass.
@@nalrashido they probably really regretted that decision afterwards seeing how letting him live turned out for them lol
@@norelle28on the other hand, he's caused more chaos than 10,000 drow
So... Just a heads up for people who don't know Drow Lore. Drow are cursed High Elves who made their home deep in the Underdark, where they worship the Evil Goddess Lolth. She is a very Chaotic Evil Goddess of the Drow, and Spiders, and therefore she appears to people as a half spider called a, "Drider". Drow society is HIGHLY Matriarchal, in which males are little more than fodder, slaves, and 'things used to keep offspring going.' If you're an outsider, whom has been captured by Drow society, expect to be brutally tortured, and sacrificed later on. This also applies to male drow that have committed some sort of crime or offense to a female Drow. The hierarchy in Drow society goes something like this. Lolth, Driders, Priestess, Spiders, Female Warriors, Commoner Female Drow, pets, livestock, Male Priests, Dirt, worms in Dirt, crap smear in dirt, Male Drow, then finally outsiders.
Weirdly enough, there is a secondary Goddess of the Drow called, Eilistraee. She is a much beloved Goddess even if you don't know anything about Drow to begin with. Definitely recommend looking into her. She has the hope of one day returning the Drow people back to their original God, Corellon (Her father and God of the Elves.) While worshipers of Eilistraee still maintain the Matriarchal society, it's no where near as brutal as the Lolth society is, and they do actually welcome outsiders, but it's mainly just for Drow.
so interesting! i'll have to look into Eilistraee more, as a DM i dont think many players know about her!!
@@werrercricket Eilistraee is also Lolth's daughter- so there's also that bit of juicy drama there too. Had come close to taking Lolth out during The Silence of Lolth- a time in Drow history when Lolth had gone silent to all her priestesses and followers while she'd undertaken a deep cocooning slumber and emerge even stronger than she was previously- but ultimately failed-- but Eilistraee has ways of coming back regardless of how many times Lolth kills her, being determined to save the Drow from Lolth and all.
Not quite, Driders somewhat paradoxically are shunned and exiled, its actually a curse and punishment to be turned into one, google "Chwidridera: The Test of the Drider"
@@InvaderSorti It would have to be paradoxically, considering of course that Lolth takes the form of a Drider. I read into that Test, and you're right that it is a curse -- unsure exactly why... Perhaps it's due to them not quite understanding who Lolth really is despite the fact that they worship her, but she is the Goddess of backstabbing, and cheating, etc. So, kind of would make sense.
@@MasterSethern I think it has something to do with them being so bad Lolth has to "fix" them that causes Driders to be shunned.
Got to love Drows, every single one of them is an arrogant backstabbing prick which foils their every plan. Those three nitwits could have made it to the forge easily if they worked together yet at least 2 out of three will bite it in the Underdark.
That's Lloth's curse for ya.
As my Seldarine Drow is very nice and refuses to do any deception check because he doesn't understand lying, I would like to take issue with this statement.
(It's actually very funny to play a good aligned drow in BG3, because you can be the most good aligned possible, and people will still distrust you. My buddy and I are running a co-op campaign and my character is always suspicious despite being good, and people trust him despite him lying and stealing a ton)
@@BirdMooseI love playing seldarine drow 😂 everyone is so suspicious and you have some amazing dialogue options
@BirdMoose Seldarine drows are like a needle in a haystack my man.
At least they aren't the Seldarine Drow. Trying to find their place in civilization surrounded by other people who will never really accept them, no matter how hard they try to show that they aren't like their sociopathic kin in the Underdark.
I'm so thankful to everyone posting their Baldur's gate 3 interactions. There's just so much the game has to offer that is so easy to miss due to little decisions that it becomes daunting trying to find them all yourself. Being able to come here and see so many people uploading those small moments brings so much joy.
im so glad to hear it!! others peoples clips helped me find soooo many things i had no idea were there!
*sobs in me never getting the game* i'M SO THANKFUL,,,
Play as a cleric of Selune and pursue a healthy relationship with Shadowheart to see some real cute moments. Just remember, her goddess is Selune's sister.
@@twofacedmgrim i play as a durge war cleric of selune. Bout to cook up some romance with our memory loss
Didn't even know there was a way for this guy to live
Yeah. A few more choices if you’re a Lolth Sworn Drow. Can intimidate him by telling him that you couldn’t hear what he just said and that he might speak louder from the racks in Menzoberranzen.
He’s pretty quick to hand over the shard after that.
@@11070gikthats pretty cool, i didnt know u had more choices lolth-sworn!
You don't even need his gem so what to kill him for even lol
You can do it as any character if you're able to cast disguise self and change to a fem drow
I see what minthara was saying about gale having "third son" energy, I think Dhourn and him would get along well.
Doubt it. Dhourn is far too callous and evil for Gale to really stomach. Remember, Gale is a decent man at heart. Dhourn is happy at the prospect of his older brothers both being dead. That would disgust Gale immensely.
LOL this is why I disguised my bard as a drow woman. I knew there'd be some nice advantages there.
The Gale hate makes no sense to me lol every Gale hater I see sounds like a middle school girl who got dumped after a week, like peak childish energy
@@adamscotkearns why are you so mad. it’s not that deep. gale isn’t a real person
My favourite part is how low that deception check is, dude is either desperate or gullible, or both 😂
I wonder if it's because of playing as female drow (I also play female drow rn and had the same check). Male drow are low in social hierarchy, which is shown here by him being immediately put in place by a female saying she's more accustomed to respect from males. So I think he just needed a tiny push in order to fall back into what the society forced him to believe.
It's because of the power dynamic
☝️🤓”I mean to say, mistress,”
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loved running into this bozo on my evil female drow run with Minthara, Shadowheart, Lae'zel and Astarion as the one token male.
Absolute GOLD that would be
Astarion as always been one of the girls. The mean girls group I mean. The four of them kicking ass and serving cunt 😂
feminism(and astarion)
astarion is rockin with the ladies
you gotta have the gays with the girls
I love how you used guidance even when it would’ve changed nothing considering your modifier was the DC. So the only way to fail would be a 1 which guidance wouldn’t help with
omg ur totally right, i just use it as a habit as a habit at this point i guess haha
I do the same thing LOL! Even when the only way I’ll fail a roll, even if I have +20 to a DC 3, is a nat 1 I still automatically press guidance, it’s muscle memory at this point 😂 too much trauma from my first playthrough where none of my chars had guidance/missed the guidance necklace and I missed rolls by 1 or 2 constantly 😭
Definitely habit 😂 I just automatically add it to every roll regardless of how low the target roll is 😂
Same, I use guidance before I even look at what the DC is
I remembered lockpicking with astarion, with the gloves and ring in act 3. Bonus was +21 against a 12, but just to be sure, i had to add guidance, just in case 😂
Make your bets what will happen to him when he returns to his house to check on "deceased" brothers only to find them still kicking.
Kinda weird how he is still alive as a third son. They’re usually sacrificed to Lolth once they’re born because males are seen as less than females. For female children, after the third, they get to continue living, but the third male (and later unless one of the first two die) is typically sacrificed, especially in noble houses. I guess you could take what he says to imply that he ran off to prove himself worthy or something but how he lived for long enough to make the decision to leave is beyond me. Maybe he’s not from a noble or high ranking house and his Matron Mother doesn’t practice that, but I’m sure Lolth would be pretty pissed about that.
You're the reason people quit D&D.
@@Tziouv haha right?
Maybe he's trans
Oooooooo
@@Tziouv I’m too anxious to play actual d&d I just reallyyy love drow lore. Also as annoying as Dhourn is, I like him! I’m just curious and didn’t mean for any of that to sound negative. Sorry for nerding out ig?
He should be grateful to be alive as a third son.
The actor for these NPCs are all so good
Meanwhile my half-drow: guess I'll have to kill him-
With what Minthara says about third son's this make laugh so much more
i found this by absolute random on one of my runs. Had no idea about the Drow society when I did. Easily one of the most satisfying moments I've come across 🤣
Dude was acting like a twat so being able to metaphorically step on him is nice 😂
I kinda like drow society in that it seems like things like rape or abuse would be very severely punished 🤔
@@elenalizabethbad news for ya buddy. It happens viciously, but just to their males and slaves instead
@@elenalizabeth What? No, not at all. Drow are extremely evil, why would you think rape or abuse would be severely punished. Children assassinate their own parents and mothers sacrifice their own sons in rituals.
@@Ova-bv4os ah 😕 so they took all the things in society that normally suck for (predominantly) women and flipped the genders. I was thinking it would be better than that 😒
@@Ova-bv4osAnd tbh, the life of female Drow isn't that much better either, if you're born from a noble house, expect to live all of your life in fear that your sisters, or even your own mother or daughters, could try to kill to take your place and so you are encouraged to take them out yourself preemptively, and if you're a priestess of Lolth ......... hope you like spontaneous combustion
"third son" ah. So that's why he is the way that he is 😂
Mah bro saw an opportunity and took it 😂 he said "no men? Hmmmmmmm"
I laughed so hard when I did a female drow playthrough and everyone was either afraid of me or bowed to me 😂
I was a morally gray character too
Oh no...he is gonna die when he reaches his house with tons of male heirs, and with nothing to show for it!! XD
I wondered if there would be these options; i didnt get them since i play as a female half-drow (bc im biracial, made me feel at home a bit). And i was just like, "oh yeah. I already found your forge, i was just exploring :)" and then the guy makes you kill him after saving his life from the spectator 🤦♀️
i am almost positive there are, bc on my gale playthrough we found the forge before we met him and there were most definitely unique options for encountering the other drow and finding the forge! and yes we still had to kill him hahah
My Half-Drow still had the option to "shut up nerd" him like a full Drow does. Also, non-lethal attacks are a thing. You can just knock him out and loot the memory shard from him.
@@katt.1787 eh you're not wrong, but if the guy says he's going to kill you after you just saved his and his guard's lives (and won't even admit you saved him when you literally unpetrified him) then he kinda deserves to die by Tav's hand
@@rubyl4480 bruh I save scummed bc i already went to the effort of saving his life and thought he was a lil cute. I finally managed to keep him alive through dialogue without being a drow... then I drank an invisibility potion and sniped him on my way out because I was just so sick of him after.
Also in case anyone needed to know, I found his mad rival before meeting him and then i told him about how his rival died at my hand and rolled a deception check to say I didn't find anything on the rival's body.
Sigh, I kept trying to get this dialogue but he kept talking to Gale instead of my character so I eventually just killed him. ALAS
They both have third son energy, according to Minthara. Maybe Dhourn liked his vibes.
gotta love the skimpy outfit Gale has on, and the no abs mod as well? you have good taste
Most of my play throughs have been with a drow and ive never managed to not get this guy to not attack me 😂😂
Ah yes, the Matriarchy.
I had already been in the forge before I talked to him. Then you can say that you're the one who found the forge and he'll rage at you lmao
i did that in a different playthrough!! its so cool that so many encounters have so so many different outcomes
@@werrercricket yeah definitely!
Female Drow supremacy 💪
yessss!! my drow is a selunite romnancing shadowheart its going excellent haha
@@werrercricketPro tip: Shart loves it when you fart
@@werrercricketif she’s a seldarine drow then she shouldn’t be a “female supremacist” lorewise
@@didixtar2863what does the lore state?
@@cheese-je9xs the drow are an evil matriarchy because those are the tenets of their evil spider-goddess Lolth. The seldarine drow worship the seldarine pantheon, aka the elven pantheon, meaning they function much the same as the other elves. They worship Corellon Larethian, the father and patron of all elves (except Lolth-sworn drow of course). So they renounced all aspects of drow culture, specially their evil matriarchal society.
How have I never come across or heard of this character until now?? I’ve played through like 6 times!
My first tav was a male seldarine drow so I didn't know this guy could live
I had no idea that you could keep this guy alive after he tells you about the forge. This was super entertaining.
Tbh I laughed way harder when this dude, a single guy, thought he could take on my party of four, who not only have more than double HP than him each but just defeated a whole ass spectator. Needless to say, he didn't land a single hit and was easily killed immediately😂
Dhourn is Kenough
Bah'Tol feels like it's completely intentional burn - love it
During character creation I kind of forgot about the matriarchal character of Drow culture and since I wanted my Warlock to look cool I went ahead and made HIM a Lolth Drow. Needless to say I was in for a treat whenever I met a female Drow and my little power fantasy came crushing down. At least Minthara stopped being so disrespectful after I literally saved her life lol
Hell yeah, i hoped to be able to play the most misandristic Drow Follower of Lolth i can, but heard/seen that there aren't many options like that.
I'm glad to see that there's something.
Playing as a male drow, the grove questline was fun.
I calculated between "a single TERRIFYING drow woman and a bunch of goblins" and "every last teifling- including the 7 foot one that could definitely rip me in half if provoked"
I chose life 😂
Can’t wait to show whoever im with next playthrough how awesome disguise is lol
I believe tho if you want to craft the epic ice scepter you have to pluck the piece from his corpse or inventory
Has +5 to a DC 5 check. Still adds guidance.
what can i say man it's a habit haha
Wish I could've done this conversation but i was dying on the floor
This poor man :,(
But anyways I keep hearing “House Butthole” it’s sending through a loop here
LMFAO idk man my bf was watching something, i forgot to turn my damn mic off and tried to edit it down but "house butthole" or whatever keeps seeping through hahaha
@@werrercricket oomf- well at least it’s very funny 😅
Blew up the eye with barrels while he was fighting me with it and it went it right into the cutscene.
badass! love that u can do things like that in this game
You can feel his blood boiling in anger, but this was necessary, if you were gentle he would attack you right away
if you run into this guy last you can tell him his buddy is dead, and the other went crazy
I kind of wish he got to become a party member because of this conversation. I kind of like this guy.
My drow interaction was stolen by shadowheart, she wasn’t even next to him when the fight ended
Bro added guidance to a difficulty class 5 with a +5 bonus to charisma. The only way to fail that was to roll a 1
I played as a female drow in my 2nd game and. I had no idea about their male-female customs when I talked to this guy.
My character was a rogue that engages in any means and any beliefs in order to get what she get wants, so it worked so well that my character would intimidate him with drow customs to take what he has lmao
Loved the interaction - I play a seldarine drow and was so fun making him choke on his words and give me WILLINGLY all he had ^_^ Without breaking a sweat.
but you have to be female drow. My Tav is male drow
@@mabeljackson yes :D I play a female seldarine, but the reaction is the same
@@MarsieHellscream my dark urge killed him. Try to knock him but he won't be knocked down even he's only have 1 drop of constitution lol. Minthara not even that hard to deal with.
Once played as a Seldarine Drow, didn't have this dialogue option.
never had him survive in tactician, even with healing and stuff. only way could be to leave him hostile and ignoring, I guess. Will try this next time, the other drow have much better survivability.
Who else was wanting more story line with this?
I was wondering if there was a way to not get into a fight with him no matter the dialogue choices. It seems this is the only way, to be a female drow! :O
He gets upset if you use the forge before freeing him
Ah yes house ba’tol the name that definitely doesn’t sound like anything else
Its funny if you met him after going to the forge
Filro lmfao I freaking love that name
And now I need to play a female drow 😂
If you want a totally evil goddess, yes. I for my part don't.
As a lolth sworn drow you can be the hero of your goddess and the next moment she makes a drider of you. Totally normal business.
@@What_do_I_Think ah good point but I'm loving the extra dialogue options. Still might have to check it out
I was wondering what he says! I knew you could talk to him, but for some reason I couldn’t in my game. I never damaged him or any of his drow buddies in my fight with that Spectator, and afterwards, he just sat down in the middle of the battlefield and wouldn’t let me interact with him. All of his allies kept saying to talk with him, so I just had to leave and keep going.
that's funny u say that bc that happened my first ever playthrough! it was only a week after the game fully came out so i bet it was bug they hadn't smoothed out yet
Also I realized something.
Isn't he from Sshmath, like entire city is essentially only Patriachal Drow city--at least close to it, like they have Vhaerun head priest as well--due to mage college town and some phenomenon where male wizards outnumbered the priestess that they became the top-dog after Drow civil war wiped out the city's matriarchs.
So he wouldn't be as obedient depending if he's "out-of-state" student.
Was wondering why I didn’t get this with my drow then realized. Cutscene started with one of my companions… Not Tav lol
Did the same thing to Mynthara as a male drow 🤣
Oh no! My identical brother, Xargrim, dead as I live and breathe!
Worry not! For I - Ptargrim (with a P) - shall take his place!
I'm so mad that Astarion triggered this dialog instead of my Drow 😭
I wish I could steal his lil robe
Do all male Drow fall underfoot for female Drow Lolth sworn? Cuz.....maybe I need this run ASAP. They aren't the same for the non-lolth Drow
You have the same energy as a rapist with that comment.
Man i there is always something new. Where did you find this guy ?
Underdark, the spectator has him petrified. If you don't kill him during the fight, you can talk to him.
^^^ above comment is right, to be more specific when you enter the Underdark through the goblin camp, exit the temple through the hole in the wall instead of the gate where the minotaurs at! you'll find the area pretty quickly :)
