    Actually in the manga they explain the fused Dialga and Palkia. When they were fighting Dialga and Palkia at the top of Mount Coronet, space and time were warping in a way that made the two look like one Pokemon. They determined that the people who built the statue in Eterna city must've seen them when space and time were bending around them.

    We have gargoyle statues in real life, yet they don't depict a real creature that ever lived. I'd say the same of the gym statues.
    The same could be said of the Dialga/Palkia statue. They're legends, so it's very believable that the statue's sculptor had never seen them and only had descriptions passed down over many generations to go on for how it should look.
    On the other hand, it would have been so cool if you could take Dialga and Palkia to Unova and use the DNA Splicers on them to get the Pokemon in the statue.

  • @MasterArchfiend
    @MasterArchfiend Год назад +4

    Sorry, but the statue one is just so flawed. Why? Because we literally have statues of creatures that don’t exist IRL so there’s no reason that the humans in the Pokémon universe don’t do the same thing. “They don’t look like any individual Pokémon,” well most mythical creatures are mishmashes and the results of poorly described encounters with real animals, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case here. The gym statues in BDSP could simply be an artistic interpretation of a vague Dragonite and/or Charizard description. Reptilian like, horns on its head, wings and stands upright. That’s super vague. I’m willing to be that if you asked someone who didn’t know any Pokémon to draw one based on such a vague description, then you would get some designs that look nothing like any of the known Pokémon.
    They are just mythical animals, like Dragons and Griffins IRL.
    The Dialga and Palkia statue does have an explanation if you think about it. Remember how in Legends the clans argued over which of their gods was the real almighty Sinnoh? It turned out they mistook two different Pokémon for Arceus and that there really was only one Sinnoh. Time passes, events fade into legend and some artist comes along, hears bits and pieces and makes the statue based on what they understood. I actually think someone in the games mentions it as being an artist’s interpretation of a legendary Pokémon, but I will have to replay and talk to a lot of people just to make sure.
    Point is that the statue arguments are…a bit flawed. That’s it though. Everything else is spot on.
    Still waiting for that Wailord variant that we saw in The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga when Ash went to Cerulean Gym. No, seriously. There’s a whale with a Blue Whale body and everything else matches Wailord swimming in a tank in the background of one of the panels. Considering how obscure some of the older mangas are, they could easily just rip and tweak the original ones from there for a game and call it a day if they ever wanted to. I actually wonder how many of those are based on scrapped Pokémon, if any at all.

  • @AJUniverse

    Ive been wanting a Gargoyle pokemon based of the Gen 1 and 2 statues since Gen2, its such an interesting concept to consider what typing they would be. Rock is an obvious choice for a Gargoyle pokemon, but what would its secondary typing be? Flying because many Gargoyles are depicted with wings? Dark because of their terrifying appearance? Fairy for their supernatural nature? or Water because many Gargoyles function as archaic water drainage, their name is even derived from a word meaning Gargle. Hell, they could even be Rock/Dragon, or at least a final evolution could be that

    • @hipokeme
      @hipokeme Год назад +7

      Technically it is a separate evolution since the later dex entries says that the evolved slowpoke can revert back should it loses the attached pokemon, however as seen in a journeys anime episode this pokemon keeps its “evolution.” Even a mega slowbro entry says that this pokemon takes up all the mega energy, so technically slowpoke doesn’t (mega) evolve at all. The only reason it’s not a separate Pokémon otherwise would be that it relies on nutrients from a slowpoke so it’s never too far off from one if detached from the same one every time.
