Square shiny Pokémon are another special shiny that people often don’t know about. In SwSh, there’s a small chance that a shiny Pokémon has “square” sparkles rather than the star shaped ones.
So when it comes to the Colosseum shinys I believe its more of a technical limitation rather then a error by the developers. When it comes to 3D graphics it's not the mesh (the actual 3D model) that has a large file size but rather the textures themselves are. I assume they couldn't justify giving every Pokemon 2 separate textures so most had a filter applied to them or otherwise had their texture changed though code for their shiny forms.
This Shelled Gastrodon sounds a lot like a throwback to the back sprites seen in the Generation 3 games, where its head seems more armoured compared to the two we got today

I'm sort of surprised with all the talk about the TCG he didn't touch on Delta Pokémon (gaining Steel or Electric type/moves) not to mention the original Pokémon Stadium's 'personalization' colors for nicknamed Pokémon.
I've played Pokemon TCG for many years and I used to collect the cards and I remember the light pokemons, the dark pokemons and the crystal pokemons. I think it would be an interesting concept for a game to have pokemon being either corrupted or purified by dark or light energy (kinda like in Gale of Darkness or Pokemon 4Ever).
I think light pokemon are really similar to totem pokemon, both are coated in the light of the region, which boosts their bulkiness, hp, and doesn't change their appearance other than, well, light
I can defintely imgaine Arceus's true form being like the Beta Version for Arceus that was found in the datamine for Diamond and Pearl since you can't distinguish it's true form as upon trying to will probably kill them
For #4, Light Pokemon kinda exist in Go through purified Pokemon. They have higher base stats and possible CP, can know the powerful move Return, and take 5% less candy to evolve. For #1, they’re hue shifts just like the sprites. But hue shifting for textures is a whole other story than hue shifting pixels.
I think a game with Light/Dark pokemon would be pretty cool. Could have another Black/White situation where both legendaries show up in the main story with your Evil Team Rival getting one. One legendary having the power to corrupt pokemon (Dark) and another that purifies them (Light) depending on which version you get.
The gastrodon sounds like hisuian goodra, it goes from purple to pink and blue makes sense and it has a hard metal shell. Must have just evolved off of it.
Been watching these types of videos for years and still enjoy them even when I know the facts but this was all new to me! Amazing video man keep it up!
If Gastrodon does have an ancient alternate form then Pokemon really missed the mark by not including it in Legends Arceus. Tho I wonder if said form was mistaken by the people of Sinnoh for Goodra.
In regards to Arceus: in Arceus and the jewel of life, Arceus gives a character three of it's plates to make a jewel, the jewel of life which are pieces of arceus's life. Arceus is incomplete without them. Additionally, some dex entries speak of arceus using it's 1000 arms. This suggests that those parts that arceus gave could be like in the movie, or that the arms are the part that are unseen. I therefore don't think arceus giving 'parts' of itself means it has a different form.
Anyone else love that this exclusively pokemon channel is and has always been called "Hoops and Hiphop" but neither of those 2 topics are ever spoken of on the channel?
1) Gastrodon (with a bigger shell) 2) "light" Pokémon from the TCG (opposed to "shadow" Pokémon like from the GameCube game) 3) Arceus (since we have only ever had a fragment of itself, plus in the pokedex it mentions Arceus and its "thousands arms") 4) "Crystal type" Pokémon from the TCG (like the Terastalization in Gen 9?) 5) second type of shiny Pokémon from the GameCube games
I entirely forgot about Light Pokemon, thanks for reminding me. I think I've seen that Light Machamp card artwork somewhere before, but I cannot remember if I actually owned the card at some point in the past, or I saw it in a book or on the Internet and just quickly forgot about it
It would indeed be cool if "second shinies" or alternately colored pokemon were a thing in the mainline pokemon games. One can only hope that it will actually happen in a future pokemon game! If it did happen, that would be a revolutionary pokemon game, and makes it unique in it's own way. If I had to guess where something like that would occur, my guess would be a region of Japan that hasn't been made into a traditional pokemon region yet. Or maybe it would happen on one of those Orange Island equivalents. It would be cool if they made the Orre region a mainline pokemon region. It has a lot of potential. Or if they could rerelease XD Gale of Darkness or Colluseum again on the switch, that would be great. But I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up, as per usual. I suppose as long as they make great pokemon games going forward, I'll be happy.
I have had the same thoughts, they might implement it when they run out of ideas or try to recapture player base. They kinda introduced it with square shinies.
i really wish they'd make light an actual type though tbh. most types that we have have a counterpart or are in a trio of some sorts, and it would fit so perfectly. examples being: fairy/dragon ghost/normal fighting/psychic grass/water/fire.... etc. it only makes sense to have dark/light
Dark is a counterpart to fighting. Dark is based on underhanded or dirty fighting tactics, and is actually “evil” in Japanese. So its match is the heroic fighting type
I'm disappointed that we never saw any other forms of gastrodon because the pokedex entries say they have all different colors and looks depending on the locations and regions but we only ever see the gastrodon from sinnoh...
There’s also some thing like: Faux groudon Faux Kyogre Corrupted celebi(and other dark ball ‘mons) Multiple patterns of arbok Elite fours specially trained Pokémon Thufizer Primal palkia Primal dialga
Imagine if there was a hidden string of codes that demands you to have 32 boxes full of arceus and it would all combine into one and create "true arceus". That would be not only a tedious job to do but would be crazy. Obviously it doesn't exist since we have an awesome team of hackers/dataminers. But just imagine that was a hidden way to get it and had been hidden all this time lol. I miss when games had obscure unlockable secrets
Well the first introduction of crystal pokèmon was in 1999 for me before the tcg released there’s on the crystal onix episode, so I guess people forgot bout that huh. As for the arceus form well bird keeper Toby I do believe came up with a theory on that one, aside from them good vid
It’s almost like they were afraid to go all out with arceus. I would love it if there was an actual present day sinnoh sequel series set in modern day with arceus as one of the featured legendary
I think with XD and colosseum, I believe the devs have never played a Pokémon game before developing those titles(can't remember if it was both or one or the other) so most likely they told the devs that Pokémon can have alternate colours, and since they've never played a Pokémon game before they just went with whatever they thought fit
You missed the Pokémon Stadium 2 alternate shinies! Mewtwo has a black tail and stomach instead of green, and I wish it was the shiny form they went with! Honestly, you could probably do a whole video just on how nicknames affect the coloration of Pokémon in the Stadium games. There's spreadsheets on the Web that show how it works!
From gens 2 to 5, Game Freak made the shiny forms by using a color wheel algorithm, and the company that made Colosseum and XD did the same thing, it just didn't translate well on 3D models, and it was over looked. If they had manually made the shiny models like they did in gen 6, then those exclusive shinies wouldn't exist.
I feel like the Light vs Dark Pokémon is more of a reflection of how the player builds the Pokémon’s move set; with the Light being more defensive and strategic and the Dark being more offensive and unga-bunga beat down.
Technically, there's "Light" pokemon in GO; it's what you get when you purify a shadow pokemon in that game. It's distinct from a non-shadow pokemon, notably.
That wouldn't make sense. The forms are like that because Mt. Coronet divides Sinnoh into an eastern and western half. There's no geographical formation dividing it into north/south. Of course they could always make a region with such a feature, but I doubt they'd do that just to get more Gastrodon forms
I guess it wouldn't be obscure but when you mentioned 2nd shiny forms I thought you were gonna talk about how we're all mad that we still haven't gotten pink Butterfree
The collosem and gale of darkness ones are actually justified. Prior to gen 6, all shinies was designed using an algorythm, which meant that no humans designed them. This applies Colloseum and XD, and because they were in 3d with a different color pallete, the algorythm didn't behave the same and gave most pokemon the wrong coloration
Arceus' alternate form most likely doesn't exist anymore. Many pieces of lore in Legends, especially in the original Japanese game, suggest that the Arceus we catch is indeed a piece of the original, but so are Palkia, Dialga, Arceus, Giratina, Mesprit, Uxie and Azelf. To have an Arceus "Origin Form", if it is even possible, the universe would basically cease to be, as Time and Space would be undone and the Distortion World would merge with the regular universe.
I've been listening to your remixes and I have to say N's Farewell has to be my favorite. Love your videos and keep up the good work. I would also love if you could react to some Australia based regions I would love it. Bye
I think it's important to clarify: colusium and XD are main series pokemon games! Let's get down what a main series game is. A main series game is 1 that you play as a trainer catching pokemon*, filling in a pokedex, & playing through a story. *those pokemon have to be able to be moved to what is now pokemon home. Obvious exceptions for partner pikachu/eevee, scruffy pichu, and cosplay pikachu. With different types of games like sun & moon, PLA, and let's go E/P which each respectively lack gyms, an elite four & badge system at all, & wild encounter battles we need to reclarify and redefine what a main series poke on game is and pokemon colusium and XD are as much a respect to the main series as any of those other deviant games and are actually vital to completing your origional gen 3 pokedexs.
minus colosseum and XD in stadium 1 and 2 there was a possibility of of a shiny to show up mainly in stadium 1 with multiple colored pikachus, and then eggexecute having a graphic error on the "yolk" on the broken egg and loads of others via from the player ID from the games as well as pikachu actually saying it's name in stadium, and stadium 2 if it's the pikachu from yellow put onto the game from the gbpak thingy for the back end of the controller.

@@JustinAdamson270 Arbok can be done like Vivillon. Nothing but the pattern on his hood is what changes.
@@allhailme8457 oh you want it to be a thing lol I read it as it already was I actually would love that
Fun fact: the Colorless type in the TCG was given to not just Normal but also _Dragon_ type Pokémon! Early cards like Dratini and its evos were Colorless as well
Square shiny Pokémon are another special shiny that people often don’t know about. In SwSh, there’s a small chance that a shiny Pokémon has “square” sparkles rather than the star shaped ones.
It’s a percent chance on a (slightly easier) shiny chance! It’s crazy that square shinies were introduced so nonchalantly
Except gastrodon isn't gen 3 at all

@@chimuoma390 this is a Pokémon video tho so digimon doesn’t matter here
No.
I was interested in it so I searched up other Arceus True Forms.......
Turns out its a mega, still cool tho
My take on Arceus’ true form was always a humanlike bipedal thing. I was inspired by the old Sinnoh myth that humans and Pokemon were once one and the same, and so I think it only makes sense that Arceus would carry the essence of all life with it and be both human and Pokemon.
ChronomonHM Is A Birdman God,So It Makes Sense!I Love Chronomon,And I Wish He Was In More Games,Like Digimon Battle Spirit 1.5!COROONAAAA BLAAAST!BURN BABY BURN!
Wasn't there a crystal onyx in the anime?
@@jaye4157 Yes there was. It was season 2 episode 7.
I think light pokemon are really similar to totem pokemon, both are coated in the light of the region, which boosts their bulkiness, hp, and doesn't change their appearance other than, well, light
In the card game there are both dark and light pokemon, not types but something else entirely, I would like to see them in the games.
The form design for the Pokemon looks pretty cool, the entry does give interesting info
I can defintely imgaine Arceus's true form being like the Beta Version for Arceus that was found in the datamine for Diamond and Pearl since you can't distinguish it's true form as upon trying to will probably kill them
In the TCG theirs also Delta pokemon that are Steel Type exclusive mostly, in others the typing do change
Speaking of crystal/terrestalize Pokémon, in the anime there’s a special crystal Onix that lives in the water.
Love that shelled Gastrodon. ❤
If Light pokemon appear one day, it had BETTER be in a remake/revisit of Colosseum & XD, make it so Nintendo!
I was thinking that maybe they’d forgotten Gastrodon and slapped that bit of lore into Hisuian Goodra as I watched this 😂
Been watching these types of videos for years and still enjoy them even when I know the facts but this was all new to me! Amazing video man keep it up!
If Gastrodon does have an ancient alternate form then Pokemon really missed the mark by not including it in Legends Arceus. Tho I wonder if said form was mistaken by the people of Sinnoh for Goodra.
When you talked about the canonical shelled Gastrodon, my first thought was a _conical_ shelled Gastrodon so now that's my head canon
I hope Shellos and Gastrodon get the North and South Sea form as well as the shelled form version, so who knows tbh
Can’t wait for Legenda: Celebi and we get to see Dark Lucia and the Dark bird trio emerge 😍😍😍
So the Arceus we catch was actually just like a zygard core lol
Or A 10% Zygarde
I feel like the Delta Species Pokémon from the TCG need an honorable mention here!
4:07 when I was a kid I had a dark celebi card that was grass type but also counted as dark type.
The theory of Arecus being a hand makes a lot more sense after watching your videos.
Such a missed opportunity for that Gastrodon form to not appear in Legends: Arceus. Would've added one more Hisuian form to the roster.
Oh, the Light Pokémon might be referenced in Purified Shadow Pokémon in Go; they shine with a unique light
He said they're not in the main series
1) Gastrodon (with a bigger shell)
2) "light" Pokémon from the TCG (opposed to "shadow" Pokémon like from the GameCube game)
3) Arceus (since we have only ever had a fragment of itself, plus in the pokedex it mentions Arceus and its "thousands arms")
4) "Crystal type" Pokémon from the TCG (like the Terastalization in Gen 9?)
5) second type of shiny Pokémon from the GameCube games
My friend's older brother had a huge Pokemon card collection that contained tons of light and dark Pokemon! I'm sure he had a couple Crystal ones too!
They kinda introduced it with square shinies.
i really wish they'd make light an actual type though tbh. most types that we have have a counterpart or are in a trio of some sorts, and it would fit so perfectly. examples being:
fairy/dragon
ghost/normal
fighting/psychic
grass/water/fire.... etc.
it only makes sense to have dark/light
In the games the Fairy type effectively acts as a Light type
Dark is a counterpart to fighting. Dark is based on underhanded or dirty fighting tactics, and is actually “evil” in Japanese. So its match is the heroic fighting type
The true form of arceus was probably shown as the ball of light at the beginning of the game
I'm disappointed that we never saw any other forms of gastrodon because the pokedex entries say they have all different colors and looks depending on the locations and regions but we only ever see the gastrodon from sinnoh...
The bike theme song is great. Thanks for making it.
If you’re comparing Terastal to crystal pokemon, there’s yet another easy connection. Delta Pokémon. Literally the same type changing ability.
Lol you almost got be there towards the end! Thought you were going to say square shinies
There’s also some thing like:
Faux groudon
Faux Kyogre
Corrupted celebi(and other dark ball ‘mons)
Multiple patterns of arbok
Elite fours specially trained Pokémon
Thufizer
Primal palkia
Primal dialga
Delta Pokemon from the TCG. One of my all time favorite concepts.
I think it’s safe to say that the Arceus we see is just a physical extension of its entirety.
They just wanted to make Diglett a pickle.
It was a big let down that they did not show the ancient shelldon in legends.
i’m surprised that shelled gastrodon didn’t appear in legends arceus!
Well the first introduction of crystal pokèmon was in 1999 for me before the tcg released there’s on the crystal onix episode, so I guess people forgot bout that huh. As for the arceus form well bird keeper Toby I do believe came up with a theory on that one, aside from them good vid
“Hey we got our new Pokémon games taking place in ancient sinnoh , should we give gastrodon its shell ?”
“Nah give it to Goodra”
All these forms are interesting. I would like to see Arceus true form in a Pokémon game.
What if Lumina phomonimon are light Pokemon from the new Pokemon Snap?
A second shiny form or RANDOMISED shinys with differences would be epic.
12:48 Your Diglett evolved into Larry the Cucumber!
The phrase "over 20 years ago in 2001" hit me like a freight train
From gens 2 to 5, Game Freak made the shiny forms by using a color wheel algorithm, and the company that made Colosseum and XD did the same thing, it just didn't translate well on 3D models, and it was over looked. If they had manually made the shiny models like they did in gen 6, then those exclusive shinies wouldn't exist.
It was already disproven that GF used some kind of algorithm for the shiny colorations.
My pokesona as a child to adulthood was a gray Sandshrew and it took me until last year to realize it was gen2 and colosseum shiny.
I feel like the Light vs Dark Pokémon is more of a reflection of how the player builds the Pokémon’s move set; with the Light being more defensive and strategic and the Dark being more offensive and unga-bunga beat down.
Gastrdon with a shell reminds me a bit of how Slugma evolves into Magcargo, and gains a shell made from molten rock.
The gastrodon one makes me wonder if there was a connection between them & the sligoo line
Technically, there's "Light" pokemon in GO; it's what you get when you purify a shadow pokemon in that game. It's distinct from a non-shadow pokemon, notably.
North Sea & South Sea Shellos & Gastrodon needs to happen
That wouldn't make sense. The forms are like that because Mt. Coronet divides Sinnoh into an eastern and western half. There's no geographical formation dividing it into north/south.
Of course they could always make a region with such a feature, but I doubt they'd do that just to get more Gastrodon forms
@@asterlyons8564 Who said it has to be in Sinnoh
I never did know about Crystal Pokemon, but I knew the idea had to come from somewhere
I can't be the only one that thinks The cyndaquil line shiny forms in colosseum are insanely good looking.
With Arceus that makes perfect sense. Arceus is above all pokemon so the thought of being able to REALY catch it is ludicrous.
I think a very obscure form of a pokemon would be cannon forme golurk
Is that when it flies like a rocket?
❤I really like this video! besides only a possibility of a game giveaway. what if we already support your Spotify? either way great work
I turned myself into a pickle, Trainer! I'm Picklett!
Light pokemon didn’t even really make sense 20 years ago either 😂 No explanation was given for them, we just had to accept it.
How funny would it be if the shelled gastrodon actually ended being hisuian goodra and the one who wrote the info was prof. Laventon
I’m gonna stop you right there the inspiration for Terastilization wasn’t Crystal Pokémon it was Paper Mario Sticker Star.
I made a “light” form in a fan made game concept I’ve been working on for a while lol
I've been listening to your remixes and I have to say N's Farewell has to be my favorite. Love your videos and keep up the good work. I would also love if you could react to some Australia based regions I would love it. Bye
Pretty sure that the hisuian Goodra was a refrence to the shelled gastrodon.
we have to remember that Corphish has another variant mentioned in the pokedex
