I´m so greatful for all you do, Dr. Ekberg. And thank you, dear body of mine for talking so clear to me now and sorry for all I´ve unknowingly done to you my whole life.

The video should be as long as it needs to be, when thoroughly going thorugh the facts and say what you gotta say to convey the most accurate and sufficient information to the listener. A well-presented lesson on how Keto works from the master himself! What a great video to recommend to everyone who asks me what changes I have done to my lifestyle! (I’ve lost 55kg = 120lbs, and trust me, everyone asks!!) Most who are as obese as I was, at BMI 40, pay little attention to the contents of the food they eat and do not even have the skills or interest to decrypt food labels. At this stage macros means nothing, as you or the signals from your body cannot tell the difference between healthy and unhealthy “food”. All that matters is to eat something that fills your belly when you feel hungry and you want it to taste good and be cheap! (because you are always hungry and want to eat a lot!). Exercise is just stressful; you risk injury if you over do it and going hungry is just torture! Low Carb “Dirty Keto” is a great introduction to a what you will experience from a healthy, “low insulin” diet and make you realise that your battle is not with fat, overeating or lack of exercise but with insulin resistance! Results are next to immediate! You truly do not get it until you feel the changes in your own body, which from thereon will the key motivator! Once your hormones and taste buds start working again, what you want and need, will naturally become different! You will feel great and be full of energy! Moving forward to healthy fats, whole foods and intermittent fasting is then something that will come naturally and will take things to another level!

I discussed my meds with him and told him I had been watching your's and Dr. Fung's channels. He said he thought your's and Dr. Fung's were two of the best channels to learn about diabetes and insulin resistance. I'm a long-time diabetic who's lastest (July 2020) A1C has dropped to 5.5. I was thrilled because I could never get below 6.1 even with lots of meds. Now I only take Jardiance and many days can even skip that. Hoping to be in the 4s at my next labs in January. Information I have learned from you and Dr. Fung has helped me achieve this goal. Thank you so very much.

Eating carnivore has been a total game changer for me. I'm 47 and I've been fasting about half the days of the month. I lost the same 5 pounds over and over. Also, my sleep was never great while fasting longer than 24 hours. I had about 25 pounds that crept up over the past 2 years and have felt like my body was no longer mine. My blood pressure sky rocketed and my blood sugar was in the pre-diabetic range. I felt hopeless until I heard about carnivore. I decided to try it and within 2 weeks I lost a pants size! I am now a month in and I am down 10 pounds! I'm not even exercising. My waist is so much smaller and I'm not bloated all the time. My arms even seem like they are getting firmer! I feel so good with this way of eating. I eat fatty hamburger, ribeye steaks, eggs and butter. Salt and pepper for seasoning. That is all. I can't believe the change in my stomach area....it has not been this flat in years!!!!
I have had a few cravings and did have a day when I ate a few pieces of stevial sweetened chocolate and another day when I had a bowl of whipped cream...
    But I'm still losing!!!

It also equips a person with what to look for on a label when grocery shopping so you don’t accidentally foods that may appear to be free of bad fats but actually still have them. Thus, you are very understandable as well as helpful in sharing vital information for weight loss and reducing inflammation in the body. Dear Dr. Eckberg, on most levels I am in total agreement. The issue of organic and grass fed is where you loose me. When we look at grass fed who is checking to say it’s so. There is so much marketing in this area. Additionally, meat marked as American may very well be coming from South America, Canada, China etc. As long as it’s packaged here in the United States it can be labeled America. Unless one personally is purchasing directly from a farm and checks the feeding and process grass fed may just a way to up the price.

    Ok, how about lard ?
It`s a forgotten food in the west, but central and eastern Europe still uses it - things like salo (unmelted pig lard, salted, sometimes smoked, eaten as a snack, with onion , garlic, bread), smalec - melted and stilled to a paste with graves, to smear on bread. Lard is also often used for frying, or to "grease" boiled buckwheat.
Lard+groats, or lard+pea/beans was very popular medieval and renessaince food in central Europe. Often eaten with onion, garlic, and soured vegetables (cabbage, cucumbers, beetroots, etc)

I burnt myself out on keto and on IF...after 2 1/2 years, I felt so exhausted. Just started sleeping all the time. Finally trying the carnivore diet and it's brought me back to life! After only one day, I woke up refreshed, my chronic back pain was gone! No daily headache. I didn't have to struggle out of bed...my 'bad' knee seemed fine, too! I wd encourage anyone to try this for at least a day or 2. My friend had similar results...no more joint pain. My other friend 's a.m. blood sugar went from 400 to 140...that took 4 days. I'm avo-vore actually. I eat a small avocado with every meal. I'll add plant foods back one at a time to see which agree with me and which to avoid. Never going back to that back pain again!

Dr. Sten, your videos inspired me to start a low carb eating life-style.
It started by replacing a meusli+milk breakfast with 2 eggs, then less and less bad carbs. At the moment I do low carbs, around 18:6 IS (skipping breakfast) and 1 x 24hour IS per week.
I live in the Middle East, so I do not have access to all great quality products, but try to do what I can within budget. I do not specifically count carbs, proteins and fats but I try to keep to the 'formula' of high good fat, moderate goodu protein, lots of good veg + salads.
I do only low key excercise at the moment, working towards more and more excercise, main focus is not to get injured.
I am a 52year old man, 1.73m tall and initially weighed 83.5kgs. Today, 3months after the journey started, I achieved my initial target of -10kgs.
It charged my life. I feel 100% better than before. I feel alive.
Now the journey started to maintain the low carb eating life-style long. term.
    Thank you.

My waist started to shrink week by week, feeling great again! I eat at 7 P.M., and I consume various types of cheese, veggies, soup, salad (no tomatoes or things high in carbs) but with olive oil, and 2 handsful of pumpkin seeds everyday... counts about 1000-1200 calories. I added a vibration/oscillation plate to my workouts. It has 60 levels for vibrations and 60 for oscillations and each can be used by itself, thanks to two separate motors. I stand on it, sit on it, do pushups, squats, single leg squats, waist bends, crunches and isometrics by pausing at different positions throughout the exercises, and I swear my strength has improved very quickly. When I first started, I was sore for several days just doing simple movements. I read several articles that said the vibrations and oscillations work the muscles constantly, many times per second, even when you're just standing on it and keeping your balance. Well, they were right. After one month using it everyday for 30-60 minutes each day, the results were incredible. I purchased one named Bio Quake, which was around $200, weighs 45 lbs, and it is very sturdy. Some of the benefits are: weight loss, increased strength, improved circulation, reduced swelling, reduced joint swelling, draining of lymph fluid build-up, toning and building muscle, and improved flexibility. I never used one before, but I am a firm believer now. Combine that with Keto and it is a conditioning winner.

Great video Dr. Ekberg. Your teaching style is unique among all the excellent YT keto channels. It combines a very accessible framework of knowledge with practical examples. For so long we have been told by our doctors “just do this, or take this pill”. Part of the problem is the sad state of nutritional knowledge required of doctors and time constraints. Most med schools still don’t teach even the basics of nutrition. And much of the dietary industry is in the pocket of the large food corporations. I learned many years ago as a young engineer in manufacturing, you build quality in through good design, materials and processes. Our “sick care” industries are built to apply expensive bandaids to broken people following unscientific advice most often provided by the companies and industries that make huge profits “treating” chronic lifestyle diseases. Why would they ever want to change? It is up to the individuals to educate themselves, and their doctors. And to spread the message in a supportive non-judgmental fashion family and friends. I would love to hear more about how you got started on the path to studying medicine and nutrition.

    • @drekberg

Thank you HarvardBob. I was always interested in figuring out how to perform better. I quickly realized that medicine had nothing to offer in terms of improving function. Chiropractic was a hands on way to improve function immediately, but as I got into Chiropractic school, I soon got my eyes opened to how important mind and nutrition was in addition to structure. Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra were some of my early influences.😄

Also can you talk about preventing loose saggy skin whilst losing weight on keto.

Thank you Adam Khan. Not an easy one. All I can suggest is that you go slower in reducing the carbs and make sure you don't starve yourself. Anytime you change something your body has to adapt to the new situation.😄

Dr. Sten Ekberg. Thank you for your quick reply. I am consuming healthy fats and quality proteins, also very little carbs come from berries, nuts, avocados.
My 4th week on keto and all of a sudden I am experiencing anxiety and panic. Maybe my body is stressed out and has to be adapt.

@@adamkhan402 if I may share from my own experience, when i started keto over 3 years ago, i used to get heart palpitations the first couple of months. Increasing my magnesium helped me a lot. Especially with muscle cramps & quality of sleep.
I used to take 200mg twice per day (morning & at bedtime)
Make sure you stick to the diet. Don't go in & out of ketosis. Your body needs time to detox & adapt. Usually after 2-3 months you'll be fully adapted & will feel totally energized.
Also regarding the loose skin, weight training will help but depending on how long you were overweight, how much weight you lose & how fast, some loose skin is inevitable. But i've noticed over the past 3 years, my skin seems tighter overall.
If the loose skin is around your belly, it may not fully disappear, but think of it as your "belt-of-glory" 😉💪

@@EvaMariposa how did you feel during exercising ? Did you lift weights while on Keto ? I just started and I notice my energy level is low.

I never originally planned to do Keto but intermittent fasting with a 90% whole food diet. After 2 weeks I’m stunned with my results 😳
Love how you provide so much information yet it’s easy to absorb.

I’m so grateful to have found you, Dr. Ekberg.
I’ve watched tons of other channels. Some are so full of misinformation and others don’t explain things completely and I’m left not having a complete understanding.
Since watching your videos, I feel like I’ve come to understand my entire life, regarding health and how things, people, events have had such a negative impact on my health and even the ‘how’ it works in my body and mind.
Thank you sir. I have finally been able to start turning my health around.
    You’re a true blessing.

Could you also explain the benefits of sesame, groundnut and mustard oil? Also, how do they compare to olive and coconut oil?
