    Good to hear that Kerry is home. You both must take care and recover fully. Yip, the town of our Alma Mater took a beating. Understandable with 226,8 mm of rain on the Saturday night.

    Not dancing on the ceiling but dancing on the rocks. The joys of a dawn patrol.

    It's absolutely a disgrace what they have done in St Francis Trevor, thank you for showing it to us. I remember all that from having surfed there and stayed there myself. As always, it's all for Profit and Gain Developments with disregard for nature and turning a blind eye to the long term damage. Is there no Coastal Environmental Engineers advising them? All of our tax payers money wasted putting those boulders back fixing that mess only for it to happen again? All to save those houses which should never have been built there in the first place? It's so very sad that they don't understand or respect nature, or natural phenomenon of wave formation which cause those near perfect waves.😔 Its so obvious to see that they justify Bricks and Cement Materialistic Development over nature regardless of the price? And so sad that once this damage is done, it may never be undone destroying these natural breaks all in the name of Progress and Development? 😢

    Seeing "Sea Vista" St Francis Bay like it is now is so sad. We had a house in Frank Road in the seventies. I remember those dunes that you mentioned. I'm sure that you had a few in the Cutty Sark bar and the old hotel. BTW, I now live in Jbay.

    Thanks, Trevor. Really enjoyed this in depth video. Quite interesting. Glad Kerry is home. She will do much better now. You too, have to slow down a bit so that flu will clear out. I know its very frustrating. Take good care.

    Very interesting, and sad but at least you are witnessing it and hopefully sense will prevail... it's cool coming on your well-informed ocean missions! it's similar to things I look at and think about here in Cape Point, the ocean is constantly changing and a source of fascination.

    My son went to jhb from pe by bus Monday evening. His 1st trip of independence. He had to choose the coldest night when it snowed on thebway there. A good learning curve for him. Great info on every thing.😊

    We’ve worked quite hard to move more sand rather than build embankments here in New York. It’s so difficult to convince governments that don’t know anything about sand movement and St Francis is a prime example. Always important to appreciate the present.

    Well in Polynesia and other places islands are been evacuated because of rising sea levels...it's not just erosion and housing....it's bigger issues.

    I agree they need to build groins and pump the sand from the Krom. It will take money and from what I hear only the ones right on the edge of the beach are willing to tackle the problem.

    Trevor - thanks for the drawings on the sand at 12 min explaining how the high pressure is shifting the lows down and forcing us to get the backside of the systems. Do you see this continuing to happen, and is this a feature of climate change? Or a random occurrence this winter?

    • @oceanadventures365
      @oceanadventures365  2 месяца назад

      Not a big climate change believer.. We have different seasons with el nino etc. Things are very different this year as a result of el nino and we have had good rain at last. All cycles of life.. But always interesting.. Thanks for the comments and watching👍

    I haven't visited St Francis for close to 20 years, honestly wouldn't even recognise it now. It's a shambles.
    Table View stretch in the last two years suffering a similar fate. Banks are gone, sand is gone. Worst year of surf I can remember.

    you can say it Trevor , climate change is on full display there and the main culprit is human activity , deregulation of normal pattern , extreme event cold or hot that was all predicted by GIEC , but a lot of folks doesn't want to or don't want to believe it , now it is there like you seems to witness it's time Trevor to educate people to this situation , time for assessment is over , time for action is there , use your platform and your wisdom voice to educate people . We live the same situation in France and all over the world , we need to raise our voice to the politic to act thoroughly now

    Very interesting to see what is happening in St Francis. I am still quite unsure why that happened (don't have much ocean knowledge or knowledge about St Francis). It is not because of ocean rising? But why else did the dune disappear !?

  • @engaa1
    @engaa1 2 месяца назад +2

    Great video. Super interesting. Have the tide levels increased much over recent times? We are getting the same kind of beach loss here and they are trying to attribute it all to sea levels rising.

    • @oceanadventures365
      @oceanadventures365  2 месяца назад

      Think there has been some rise but covering the dune feilds was a fatal error as its stopped the feed of sand to the beaches..
