He was from Durban but did surf here 😜🤣
Right, not an afternoon surf check😅, but a days trip from Durban. He now lives and surfs closer to me in California near Rincon from my understanding. Growing up watching him surf J-bay in the theater was inspiring! Surfing next to him at Blacks in La Jolla showed me what a total pro and gentleman he is. 😎

Trevor, great video. That video alone, J Bay had 10 or 11 different looks. Temperature swings are crazy. Hey, how do all the wild animals do in that cold weather? I always thought Elephants, Lions , Zebras needed warmer weather. Yes I'm sure it's probably stupid question, but I always see travelling J Bay surfers go on wildlife tours.
They made and born here... Africa is a tough place😁

Wind gusts and lulls.. Same energu gets transferred into the ocean and the same happens there..

Waves don't all come from the same storm systems.
Like throwing two rocks into a pond with overlapping concentric ripple-action: it's interference patterns -- trough-to-trough, wave-to-wave amplifies size of sets; trough-to-wave cancels out and creates the lulls.
I find it fascinating.

Amazing, though. I started doing 20 mins of cold therapy twice a day. With the focus on finding the coldest water possible (more bang for your buc k); the headspace in realy cold water completely alters. I used to dread anything under 14c now I positively hanker for 10c or colder if I can find it. You get out of 20 mins of that, and you feel like king kong!

West South west is best. Luckiky the north doesnt normally last long✌️
