You will have more insights with the upcoming tutorial I guess ;) About the light rays information, it just depends on the type of light you're using. You can get the position of your light by referencing it for example and then determine the light direction depending on the light type. It's actually more about geometry (I mean mathematically speaking) than about light itself I guess
