My favorite thing about Courtney is how much she smiles. Everyone looks like they are dying and Courtney's smiling so big her teeth could be used as a lighthouse. What an incredible person.
As a Dad with a 26 yr old daughter that's an athlete as well this got me teary eyed. I love how you guys captured the deep bond between a father & daughter. It reminded me a little of the day I did my first Ironman , my daughter was 12 yrs old at the time and she crossed the finish line with me. 10 yrs later I watched her compete as a Div3 swimmer for the University of Rochester. Been a fan of Courtney since she won the Javelina100 so I wasn't surprised she won WS100. I wish both these amazing women a long and epic career. They represent the sport so well. Thanks for making this film .
Yeah, Mike right there with you. Very late to the party to comment here, but as a father of two girls - twins age 6 Dash I was crying just thinking that I hope they will think of me the same way she thinks of her dad. The fact that seeing her dad gave her the motivation she needed to keep going makes me choke up as I am voice dictating this..
Running 12 miles is a big day for me. But watching these videos, it f****** motivates me more than anything! I can't imagine running a hundred miles. But there's something about this that totally captivates me. Without even knowing these people, I love them.
Trail runners are the kindest, most generous people in the world. I've had so many awe inspiring experiences out trail running, just love the people so much. And Courtney.... What can be said about Courtney other than Legendary!
i. just came back from office, tired. and watched this video... and something sparked inside. me... a inspiration... may be.. im doing nothing compared to them... hats. off to u ladies
Awesome effort Lucy, I kept checking how you were travelling on the day, so was wonderful to hear your story. You are an inspiration, you exhibit a maturity beyond your years. You will rewrite the record book over the next 10 - 15 years. I look forward to watching your adventure.
Incredible. Here in 24 hours I’m headed on a road trip out to Auburn, where I fell in love with ultrarunning, and I can’t wait to step on that track again.
Lets get it! Im so pumped.... been putting EVERYTHING that i am into becomeing an ultra runner. And it will happen. And its going to happen fast. Yall will see me on this channel someday soon. 🙂 its going to be epic.
The most unique thing about Courtney is her racing clothes. As an ultra runner myself, you see so much goofy running crap, and here's a monster of an athlete looking like shes wearing basketball shorts. This was fun to watch.
While the distances are crazy what surprises me is that Courtney runs with what looks like basketball shorts and maybe a cotton shirt Wich if you run seems like hell already. Also wish I could achieve the mood that Lucy's dad has because he seems so happy.
This video is living PROOF that women can do anything men can do IF they train for it! They must dedicate their lives to the task, and when they cross the Finish Line, they are champions... just for having finished the full 100 miles.
if you ever want to feel a closeness with people join a running club or participate in a race where after the race you celebrate everyone's else's completion.
Yo I was running a few months ago and saw Courtney running in Golden CO and I just shouted “you fuckin pump me up, let’s go”. Just seeing her on the trails has projected me forward with my running. I’m coming, watch out world. -TB
I hope to run my first 50 miler this year on my birthday. 14 weeks of training to go on my ultra schedule that started 2 weeks ago, after I completed a 16 week marathon schedule for the fifth time in about three years. Last year I completed a 50 km ultra for the second time and in the next 14 weeks I have at least one 50 km ultra to run before I will run my 50 mile ultra. And I am attempting to do it all on my own without running an event. I hope I'll make it.
@@readie1212 the 50 miles eventually because a double marathon. I had lost my camera during the day which made me have to run back for a mile or so and there was a bit of detour due to some trails being closed for a bit. When I eventually arrived at my planned finish line I was just a few hundred metres short of the double so I added those on as well. It took forever though, so I wouldn't have won anything had it been an actual event

Yes, I have PTSD and have suffered from panic attacks my whole life. It is one of the only things that makes me feel like myself. Courtney is one of my biggest inspirations
Mago Koro PTSD is awful, may God guide you through your path and enlighten it and your soul. Accept the past for what it is, and try to create the best future you can.
haha I just Ctrl+T'd quickly googled "how to easily convert miles in km" read "divide by 5, multiply by 8" and was satisfied so Ctrl+W'd and right away just saw you comment. Haha was just really random.

These people are why I run. There’s zero malice in the trail running community and it’s a beautiful thing, I hope it stays that way.
Agreed! I’m going from couch to 100 miler after losing 130lbs this year. I’m tracking it on TikTok and the running community is really uplifting!
I found the same with triathlons. Everyone knows the pain you have to go through so there is a mutual respect for all
Courtney Dauwalter is becoming a legend!
Her interview on The Joe Rogan podcast was my favorite!
She already is!!
As it should be she's a monster in a great way.
She's so inspiring!
She IS a legend!

@@jimmoses6617 Let's get it done!
Any time I see these Dads with their daughters it makes me tear up every time. They have nothing but love and admiration for their child.
Word, Ryan! We love seeing how supportive they are with their child.
Amazing job Lucy. Met Lucy at the Melbourne World charity Run as we finished together. Incredibly humble and talented young women.
Lucy is awesome! 🙌
2:05 "..to be able to stop thinking"
She hit the nail on the head right there.
Courtney cracks me up. Everyone's got their fancy running outfits. Then there's Courtney running in the same garb she probably cleans house in.
Haha, we're big fans of Courtney too!
Yeah just goes to show it's more about the person than what cool gear you have.
Yeah, the long shorts seem to be a "no-no" in running let alone ULTRA's yet there she is, insane!
@@muriloninja i think its not as bad in ultras cuase your knees arent getting that high
She rocks Salomon gear, all the time. That's all she needs!
a father is an integral part of every childs life. NICE JOB DADS
One of the best Western States productions I've seen! Awesome!
Absolutely! I teared up when Lucy crossed the finish line and her Dad gave her a hug.
This year's race was EPIC!!! Courtney and Lucy ROCKED IT!!!!!! And Lucy's dad seems like a super cool dude............

I've watched maybe 10 videos of various runners in this years race and this is by far the best one...gratz to both of you. And to the dad, great job!
Could have happily watched a 30 min film of this. So cool!
5 minutes ahead of pace early on in a hundred.......pretty amazing how well she held it together!
'Sitting feels weird. It's like i'm in glamour shots' :D courtney is awesome
So amazed by what both of them accomplished!

This is how life should be, this is how life could be, if we only would run together 💖
I'd hate that ngl. Running isn't my thing. I'd rather swim
This was beautifully filmed. That Courtney is something special. Lisa did terrific for her first WS100.
Amazing right?

Great documentary! I felt this👍
Lucy is awesome and so is Courtney. Legends!
Pair of trail monsters. Unreal ability
Fab video. Could watch amazing athletes like these all day :)
22yo and already ultra running god damn wow amazing
im glad to see courtney in the video, shes so cute and lovely
Such inspirations!!!!! Love these women.
8 miles is the farthest I've ever run ... I hope to run a marathon someday 🦸💪
That's a start... keep it up. Hope to see you out there soon, James! 🏃♂️💨
Wow! The longer the race, the more I feel the heat, so I can only imagine running 100 miles in those temperatures!
Great video. Pacing and storytelling is on point. Music is good too!
Glad you enjoyed it!
two absolute legends, great video. THANKS!
Amazing to run 100 miles such strong people mentally and physically. Wonderful people
Lucy is a great person. In the human race, Lucy lives on the podium. Remarkable for someone so young.
I love how much she loves her old man.
6:26 definitely shed a few tears haha
miss running with my dad

Loved seeing this!
I just love seeing the women getting more attention...they’re all doing incredible things.

I’m barely running two miles without stopping my god what a challenge
Great film!
What a great way to begin a video on Ultra Running
“My ass is on fire”
My reaction to that just shows my lack of maturity.
What incredible women! How that Cortney is still smiling even after that 100 miles with so much ease, what a role model. ( I am a man by the way :))
