Really everyone I now that is at least an adult who play street fighter when they were young says it how he does maybe it's just how people from back then say it
The Kanji on Ryu's belt is four characters that translate to 'Wind', 'Woods', 'Fire', and 'Mountain'. It's actually based on Sun Tzu's "Art of War", where there's an excerpt that states how one should conduct themselves in battle. "...as fast as the wind, as quiet as the forest, as daring as fire, and immovable as the mountain".
Ryu's belt has 4 Kanji symbols written on it, that read "Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain", or something along those lines. It wasn't very easy to see from the video, I'll check when I get mine out of its box
My TV stand has shelves around it, initially designed for movies and various consoles/TV accessories - so my small collection chills out on two of those shelves.
I display them grouped with amiibo of their own franchise (Mario characters together, Pokemon together, etc) and I have the boxes hanging on my wall with the amiibo outside the box sitting on top of the clear plastic.
In some official Street Fighter II artwork, Ryu's belt has four kanji emblazoned upon the right end: wind (風, Kaze?), woods (林, Hayashi?), fire (火, Hi?) and mountain (山, Yama?); these four kanji make up the Fūrinkazan. The same four kanji can be seen on a sign on the left-hand side of Ryu's stage in Street Fighter II, and are also visible on his belt in Street Fighter IV. The four words are based on chapter seven of Sun Tzu's Art of War, which dictates how one should conduct battle: "as fast as the wind, as quiet as the forest, as daring as fire, and immovable as the mountain." (From Street Fighter wiki)
I display mine in a unique way which is kind of hard to explain and I put them in different places. Most are in my gaming room but I have my favorite and rare ones in my room
Awesome video NC, my local store BIG-W are selling Roy, Rhy and R.O.B Famicon for 14.00 AUD that's about 10.65 USD the quantities are very low with R.O.B Famicon the most popular. I thought Rhy would be the most popular! Most of my amiibo are boxed and displayed on shelves with my games any amiibo I really like I purchase a second amiibo unbox them and use them for gaming?
I display my amiibo by the order of the series that released. My Smash amiibo are in the same order as on the character selection on the Wii U. Ryu looks like he has his head tilted downwards
Personally, I have them displayed in columns and the first criteria is by series, old to new (example: Duck Hunt is the oldest, while Splatoon is the newest), then, within those series, again, from old to new (Mario is the oldest character of his series, and the newest I own is Bowser Jr.), and in the end I have the third party, you guessed it, from old to new (Mega Man is first and Shovel Knight last). In other words, the top right character is Duck Hunt, then the bottom left is Shovel Knight.
Dude send me a roy : ( In mexico you cant get it unless You are willing to pay for it for double the prize cuz the store its exclusive from overprices everything >:I You live like ANYWHERE in the country that isnt exactly the region i live in If im mindless enough to buy it from that store, ill have to pay the amiibo PLUS A FOURTH OF THE PRIZE >:I thats fair
I was really looking forward to buy it in my store but news about its exclusivity where shown like A WEEK BEFORE THE LAUNCH DATE At least i can have ryu, i suppose...

Really everyone I now that is at least an adult who play street fighter when they were young says it how he does maybe it's just how people from back then say it

Very. I know it is pronounced "Ree-yu" because in Japanese it is spelt Ri Yu. I is said "ee" and u is said "oo".
It always bugs me when people can't pronounce character names correctly.

Cool I did not know that
Why do casuals insist on pronouncing his name as "Rye-u". It's not, it's pronounced as "Ree-u".
+Fig Newton Not quite, but that's a lot closer to the original pronounciation than how he said it. :D

I would make a wooden stand with holes in them and put amiibo in the holes and make it in a staircase position
just ordered Ryu today. great vid, subscribed :)
The writing on his belt stand for Nature's Elements: Water,Fire,Wind & Earth.
It's pronounced Ryu (Ree-yu) not Riu (Ri-yu). XD

You've heard how the SSB4 announcer says, Ryu, right?
I display mine with official stands but I use up all the space
Saw one at the store, so I had to choose between Ryu and Fox XD.
Found him at Walmart today :D They only had 4 left so I grabbed one.
I say "Ryu", (like Ree-You) but other people say "Ryu" (Ri-you) like, which is it? I'm so confused. The announcer in smash 4 says Ree-You.
It is Ree-You like the announcer in Smash says. In the Street Fighter games his name is also pronounced that way.
Say it however you want dude.
