Spanish Army MRE Lunch (Field Combat Ration) 🇪🇸 Spain Armed Forces Military Meal Ready To Eat Review

- My wife and I were super excited to dig into this military MRE from Spain! This is the NATO-approved Fuerzas Armadas de España Ración Individual de Combate, or Spanish Armed Forces Individual Combat Ration. Spanish soldiers are issued three field rations per day, with specific Meal Ready to Eat menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This results in an impressive variety of food. The main dish of the menu we reviewed was Madrid Stew, which is apparently a classic Spanish dish, but it was completely new to us. These meal kits contain tasty food and unique extras, making the Spanish MRE one of the world's best.
Thanks for watching!

My wife makes these so much more fun 😂
Having your wife to help the review was a great idea, well done.
You’re one hell of a lucky dude to have a wife that enjoys your hobby as much as you do!
She tolerates it lol. You're right about me being one hell of a lucky dude though!
Your wife certainly adds to the review, she made me laugh a couple of times.
Dude living in 2025 and we stuck back here in 2024 😂
Think we should ask him for this week's lottery numbers.😂
I had to check calender, thought I had lost a year 😂
I enjoyed watching you and your wife do the review
Nice video! I'm glad u generally like our ration. Regards from 🇪🇦
Hi, i am from Spain. To be exact from Madrid, here we eat the cocido with soup, because we do the soup whith the liquid of the stew.
There seems to be a recurring misconception that Spanish food is supposed to be spicy. I think you might be confusing it with Mexican food. Spanish food is actually known for being averse to spiciness and using mainly olive oil, salt, garlic, onion, non spicy peppers, paprika, tomato and things like that for flavor. It's also a culture that looks down a bit on over-seasoning and strong sauces in general as they might be used to mask the flavor of sub-par ingredients. Instead it highly values quality ingredients and enjoys their natural flavor for what it is.
Hence the simplicity of the stew... what you can identify with your own eyes is what you'll taste: chickpeas and pork. Instead of coming up with some complex blend of spices, it relies on the pork fat for flavor lol
Of course I'm not judging your tastes, just trying to offer some cultural context.
So yes, if you ever decide to get the canned squid ration, it will very much taste like...squid. But these are the kind of things people are making and eating at home everyday so the company making it will make sure the texture and taste are up to standard.
Spot on
Haha! The stew explosion
I suppose the dent had something to do with that reaction 😂
@@ReadinessRations I think it was an air pocket in the hexamine tablet...
Wiki has an article describing two types of "Madrid Stew", both are heavy in Chickpeas. Pork, chorizo and tripe are mentioned as possible meats.
Her funny comments are great.
I was cracking up while editing
I do not know why but we got canned condens milk coffee and bread where issued separately at company level. Old rations do have some cookies/crakers and a brush for the tooth paste also the drinks came in slight lemon and orange flavour . I use to buy some packs coffee, and bread and put them in my bagpack.
It makes sense the soup and the cocido madrileño, since it use to be first dish and second at home and restaurants, but not spice at all, most flavour came from the pork. When I cook it, I use spice chorizo and once in the bowl I mix it together.
Maybe they use a non spice one due to keep it longer in the can with out flavour be too intense in the end.
Love seeing the two of you review together!
You're a lucky man, my good chap. Love your vids.
Far more lucky than I deserve. Thank you!
Very patient and understanding wife.....
My man is out here seasoning the cocido with hexamine
You know it
loving the content
Spanish cuisine does not use spice, Americans tend to confuse it with Mexican cuisine, although they are very different, from two different continents, America and Europe.
Your Wife Is Pretty n Has A VERY Nice Smile....
Always look forward to your reviews... nice that your wife is also participating. As for the rations..yupp , ive had some of these and they are all a bit low on taste .. the breakfast is ok ish i suppose,..but i do like the military look of the packaging and tins etc. The fuel tabs smell really bad , that i even threw them away ... thanks for the review and hope to see something new soon .... btw. Dutch 24hr rations are worth looking at...MT from Germany
You Should Feature Your Wife More
Howdy Amigo. Love Breakfast rations. Some Lunch rations are trying, to say the least. Yes, fuel tabs stink like fish, lol. Rather tuna, than my squid in ink, LOL. The drinks are meant to put powder in mouth, wash down with water shot. Both ways, are not appealing, LOL. They do serve the purpose however. I hope you all had some fun with this one Dane. Peace, John.
Nice work on this
Wonder if any of the fuel tab went in the soup since you assembled the stove over the open can.
When I think of their rations green boxes I think of their CETME Model L Rifle.
I want a CETME-L so bad
@@ReadinessRations Lol they look so cool but apparently have magazine issues because of the magwell geometry not working well with standard STANAG mags
a company called Marcolmar seemed to fix this issue with their kit builds.
Nice ration. I remember getting some of the components from Minotaur trading Post and they were great.
Great review!😀
Awesome video Guys
Doesn't look to bad tbf, great review.
OK, you're a RUclips MRE-review keeper as you're 1) verified as married, 2) used the word "splooge" and 3) in the same video! 😂
I also tried the Spanish one, the tuna is very tasty.
Its not weird at all to have soup and stew, cocido madrileño usually comes after a noodle soup made with the stew broth (not chiken but its something), some people mix both things together
looks like a really small ration compared to Polish one even if you look at 1/3 Polish ration - probably because of lack of all the extra add ons
Don't eat the oil with the tuna! It's only for conservation, and a little flavour, may be, but it is not supposed to be eaten. Just strain the tuna and go ahead. About the tastes in general, we in Spain are not very much into strong spicing. We are more into the natural taste of the different kinds of food.
I nearly jumped out of my skin when your wife first spoke - something strange with the sound!!!
the toothbrush is packed in the breakfast ration
if you look at th ingredients on the side of the stew can, it will say "puerco" if it is pork. otherwise it may say "carne de rez" for beef
Carne de res. And puerco is not a word used for pork in Spain (rather for the whole animal). It would be "cerdo" or "carne de cerdo".
Nice video! But I think you shipped a year in your life... it's 2024 lol.
Nice.
The toothbrush corresponding to that toothpaste is in the box corresponding to breakfast...Regards from Spain
MELACOTON is Spanish for peach, not sure I spelled it correctly 😂
Melocotón
4:28 it almost looks like a cassoulet…
.I prefer @Steve1989 review of this MRE. You two sound like amateurs.
IMO the Spanish ration is the weakest in the NATO rat packs. If you can get an Israeli IDF pack its really limited and bland
So much tuna in those haha!
@@SmittyMRE Is more health than others... USA, UK, France, and also Israel
@@ASTFRER36 As someone that eats very healthy these days, I really don't think a "More healthy" competition amongst rations is much of a contest ;) Food to keep 'em in the fight rarely is.
