I don't have a temperature check what's an estimated time frame?
It's challenging to offer a precise cooking time without using a meat thermometer, especially since the initial temperature of your beef tenderloin can greatly affect the cooking time. But then again, 'room temperature' can mean different things in different kitchens! The tenderloin I cooked took 20 minutes at 190°C, but that's a guideline, not a guarantee. Cooking times can vary based on several factors, including the particular performance of your oven and the specific size and thickness of your meat cut. For optimal results, it's wise to perform visual and tactile checks, such as observing the meat's color and firmness. If you're keen to dive deeper into the art of cooking steak, you can read my Ultimate Guide to Cooking Steak here: My Ultimate Guide to Cooking Steak.www.gaultsdeli.co.nz/how-to-cook-steak-like-a-chef/ Thank you for your question, and best wishes on your culinary journey.
Does olive oil affect the taste of the steak? :)
Hi Venus,
Cooking steak in olive oil certainly adds to its taste. Olive oil's unique flavour profile subtly infuses the steak, enhancing its natural flavours. Additionally, olive oil facilitates the Maillard reaction, which results in a beautifully browned and flavourful crust on the steak. The oil also aids in even heat distribution, ensuring your steak cooks uniformly for optimal taste. Lastly, olive oil serves as an excellent carrier for other seasonings, helping them to adhere to the steak and boosting their flavours.
Happy Steak Cooking

@@simongault5804 Thanks for your kind reply, Simon 😊
I would love to try this one using Olive Oil, soon. 😊
I was just hesitant at 1st because Olive Oil has smell unlike ordinary oil. Or maybe my olive oil should not smell like that? I can't describe the smell.
I will put comment soon here once I try using Olive oil 😊😊
Fantastic that you're thinking of giving olive oil a shot! The smell of olive oil can vary depending on its quality and freshness, so it's not necessarily a bad thing if you're noticing a scent. In fact, high-quality olive oil should have a robust aroma, often described as fruity, grassy, or even peppery.
If you're hesitant because of the smell or any other concerns, you might find this blog post I read about olive oil quite enlightening. It busts some myths and might just change your mind: www.gaultsdeli.co.nz/extra-virgin-olive-oil/ .
Looking forward to hearing how your olive oil adventure turns out!
Cheers,
Simon
thats a tenderloin roast a steak is when that is cut into pieces
You've caught me red-handed... or should I say, 'red-meated?' You're right, in the culinary textbook it starts as a roast. But after some oven magic and a slice of the knife, voila! It graduates to steak-hood. It's like the caterpillar to butterfly transformation, but for meat lovers. 🐛🦋🥩 Let's call it Schrödinger's Beef-both a roast and a steak until you slice it! 😂 Thanks for your meaty insight!
I like my steak well done
Best I do a video of a well done version. If you cook a bit longer to achieve an internal temp of 75°C or one 167°F you will be in well done heaven
Wtf is wrong with you
so you don’t like your steak
You mean you like to ruin your meat?
Wait 20 min??? Buddy i don't want a ice cold steak
Resting the steak allows the juices to redistribute evenly throughout the meat, resulting in a juicier and more flavorful steak. Resting also helps the steak retain its temperature.
Rest assured, the steak won't turn ice cold during the resting process. You can simply cover it loosely with foil, which will keep it warm without affecting the temperature drastically. In fact, the steak will still be hot and enjoyable after the resting period.
Taking this extra step of resting the steak will truly make a difference in its tenderness and taste. I promise you won't be disappointed!
@simongault5804 Yea I get that but 20 min for heavens sake, 3-5 min will be just as fine.
@@HolyArmor, Hey, why don't we play a little game of 'Iron Chef: Deli Edition'? You strut into my deli, and I'll whip up a whole eye fillet, pampering it with a good 15-20 minute nap afterward. In the meantime, you'll be cooking up your own eye fillet masterpiece, giving it a mere 3-5 minute power nap. We'll then compare notes and see whose steak is better. The best part is, if you lose, you're doing the dishes!
@simongault5804 Count me in brother ‼️
lets chat
Buddy use F , that’s the global standard of every cook
Cheers for the heads-up! Over here in NZ, we're pretty keen on our degrees Celsius, but I get that it can throw a spanner in the works for our mates overseas. Not to worry, I've got you covered! In all my blog posts, like this one here www.gaultsdeli.co.nz/how-to-cook-steak-like-a-chef/ , I chuck in degrees Fahrenheit too, just to keep everyone on the same page. I'll make sure to keep this up in my videos too. Happy Days and good on ya, Simon 🥩🔥
