- Queensland LNP senator Barry O’Sullivan made a slur against Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young in the Senate yesterday. In retaliation, Greens leader Richard Di Natale called O’Sullivan a 'pig' and then refused to withdraw his comments. No they are not. Men and women are not equal when you look at the physical capabilities and that is fine. Men do what they do best and women do what they do best, preferebly without harming another human being. That is how our society works. The women you are reffering to are those who want a job because of their gender. Those women won't be successful as a ceo, just as much as a men won't be successful as a ceo, if he doesn't put the work in it. A man aswell as a Women will be successful, if they put the effort and the work into it, it's just much more common that men are willing to sacrifice all of their lifetime to becoming successful , whereas women tend to focus their private life more (generally speaking ofcourse there are always exceptions).

Women wear makeup for us. I wear makeup (or don’t) when I debate or when I deliver speeches because it makes me feel beautiful, not for those who’ll see me to comment on it. In the same way, if I see a man put effort into their appearance, while it might be appreciated, I will have the common decency to understand that decision was made for himself and it’s certainly not something to be commented on in a speech about sexism (because one of the biggest underlining problems of sexism is the belief that “stunning” women can’t be “brave” or “brilliant” - and thus the comment of the OP).

I came here years ago and admired the "call a spade a spade" way of Sarah Hanson-Young. I came back last week and happened to read the comments and was shocked to the point that I too will leave a comment now.
A large number of shallow, aggressive and disgusting comments here make me think that Sarah's speech is also entirely directed towards these 'guys with a problem' who make such comments.
The other thing that became a realisation was that at this time we are having a national crisis focus on 'violence against women'. That realisation is evident here in the 'attack' on what she is and what she talks about and stands for.
And when she states, "you are not fit to call yourself men", this is directly appropriate to you men here who say these gutter comments.
Our problem with 'violence against women' comes down to a state of mind. That is what needs to change, the process of thought into action whether it be verbal or physical.
So yes, as a man, I call you who made these disgusting comments out. You are not fit to call yourself men. I do this for my daughter and any women.

The greens have probably done more than anyone else in Australia in boosting greenhouse gasses by:
-opposing/scarmongering about nuclear power
-opposition to dams like the Franklin back in '83, which probably would have generated enough hydro to put 5 coal-fired plants out of business
-in tasmania (where they've held balance of power for the majority of last 30 years) opposing any mine, development or factory no matter how modern and clean, ensuring it just gets mined or developed someplace else for lower standards/higher emissions. Wesley Vale pulp mill is a great example of this back in the 90s.
-opposition to coal - india and china are gonna burn fucktonnes of coal for the next 50 years regardless of what happens in australia. While I agree with the greens that coal-fired power gen in australia should be closed down (slowly) we should still mine it and sell it to asia, because if they don't buy it from us they'll just get even dirtier coal from someone else.

Who is she to define what a man is? Does she think a man who expresses hos emotions is not a real man? What about a man who cries? Sounds to me like this woman is a hypocrite.
It's sexist for a man to tell a woman to be more feminine but ok for a woman to tell men to be more masculine?
men have been telling women how a real woman should be since the dawn of time (e.g. staying at home, not being allowed to vote, etc), but the moment a woman says a real man is not a misogynist you lose your mind haha
