      Yes!!! I was hoping there would be comments highlighting that others can see a significant change! But I’m honestly so impressed that it wasn’t that difficult for you AND it is helping you reach your goals! It usually seems so intimidating and unsustainable to make these kinds of changes, so I feel hopeful knowing it wasn’t as difficult as it seems. Also love the emphasis on balance and sustainability!!

      I stopped eating sugar in 2015, (allowed myself fruit, honey and maple syrup after initial hard-core 6 week detox), and I lost 60lbs in about 3 months. I felt great physically, (although while detoxing, I did want to kill other people for being able to eat sweet stuff! 😂), but buying a whole new wardrobe was difficult.
      During Covid lockdowns in Canada, I started eating sugar again, and gained 30 back. I've just recently cut it out again because I feel like CRAP.
      So for me, no added sugars, no sugar substitutes, no juices unless they're extremely diluted with water or soda water. Fruit is ok, and I'm still allowing myself honey and maple syrup, because I don't eat much of those anyway.

This video is very inspiring since I've been struggling with keeping up my healthy habits after struggling with BED for so many years. So thank you for showing it's not all that hard to keep up with something like this.

    That's some impressive results ! When I saw the pictures my reaction was : Woaw what a difference ! but I understand how it's always more difficult to see changes in ourselves than in others. This video gave me some kind of hope, I need to cut down sugar too, not to lose weight, I'm quite slim, and since I started adhd meds 2 years ago I lost even more weight, I'm just above my IMC limit right now, but my diet is really bad, I'm really struggling to eat healthy (sometimes even eating at all), somedays I only eat sugar. It's getting worse and worse and I know I have to do something about it.
    I quit smoking weed two weeks ago, I've been addicted to it for 25 years, it was my priority, and I know my next challenge is gonna be the sugar addiction... It helped me to ear you say it was not that difficult in the end, Makes me believe i can do it too. I'm French, we don't have so much sugar in our daily food but our bakeries are so full of temptations ! I'm used to eat 2 "pains au chocolat" every morning, I think that is the first thing I have to change to make it possible.
    So again, thank you for this video, it's very helpful !
    Keep up the good work Bea, you are crushing it !

    Congrats 🎉 staying away from sugar is a Huge deal ! I also have PCOS and i totally understand how hard it is to lose weight 😅, but stay away from sugar, refined carbs(gluten), and eat protein and veggies with every meal, you’ll see how much of a big difference it makes! Drink plenty of water, go for walks and sleep, we need to control our hormones and sleeping/ relaxing helps😊. I’m down 16 lbs in 2 months doing this…Keep going, don’t give up!

    You can definitely see the difference in the mid section. Regardless of weight loss if you are feeling better (even with being winter sick 😕) it is a win. It takes time and energy to find what works for you. Enjoy the process and the knowledge gained.

    I'm really proud of you for a few things. One, you were not going after sugar like it's evil, you were simply removing a source of sugar that you wanted to see if you could live without it. I'm really glad you were impressed by how quickly will power entered the chat - me too! Two, you leaned into your strengths like cooking, data collection and learning to help you stay motivated. Those are really healthy things to be interested in. And thirdly, I love that you didn't force your partner to participate.
    I think you did this challenge in a really fun way that helped you truly test the boundaries of your cravings and you learned that you've got some great will power when you listen to your body! And sometimes when it's begging for sugar, it actually just wants something else.
    Way to go!

    I've tried to quit sugar and it's hard AF, so I give you all the credit for smashing it like you did. One of the weird things that happened when I did cut back was that my eye "floaters" disappeared. I've been thinking about trying it again, but one of my stumbling blocks is the free meal replacement drinks that I get from my health insurance. They are sugary, but using them for one meal a day really helps with my food budget. I'll have to think about it a little more.

      I wonder if your insurance company has a version of those drinks that are intended for diabetics? Maybe those would be a low/no sugar option for you. I understand about needing to eat what is available to you that you can afford. I'm dependent on free food pantries and sometimes it is a choice of not very healthy food vs no food. People who are not food insecure can be so judgemental about what we who are in poverty go through. I can't just go out and purchase a more healthful option, because I don't have the money to pay for it. All of my food stamps money goes on vegetables and fruit. Free food pantries provide the rest and there is not a choice.

    • @npflaum
      @npflaum 3 месяца назад

      @@hollywebster6844 Technically, they do, but they are always sold out. Also, they are 10 bucks each, as opposed to $30 for 24 of the sugary ones. The benefit gives me $250 per quarter.

    Everything everyone else said + I *LOVED* hearing notes of Intuitive Eating: don't restrict, pay attention to what your body tells you (how did that food make me feel, am I satisfied or full or overfull, what does each feel like, etc). You have learned SO MUCH in your journey and it's FLIPPING RAD to watch you grow (and grow along with you). Way to go Bea! Do the things!

    • @Smithpolly
      @Smithpolly 3 месяца назад +1

      Except that's not going to work for a lot of people. If someone puts a lot of sugar in their tea, their intuition isn't going to tell them to go for tea without sugar. It's going to be a matter of restricting the sugar in their tea until their tastebuds readjust and the taste of tea with a lot of sugar seems sickly sweet to them.

    Lots of bread will have trace amounts of sugar added because it's used to activate yeast! It's usually like 1 teaspoon in what will make like a batch of 2 loaves but that would be how they get away with not listing it I guess? When I make yeast risen bread instead of sourdough I need to add sugar to the warm water and yeast so the yeast wakes up and eats the sugar lol. Like little cups of coffee for it.
    Also. I was literally was slamming tropical tictacs as I watched this.......

    It's actually very normal. The taste buds actually change depening what you eat. I think they have an age of 8 days. So if you don't have sugar for a month it's bound to not taste the same. For me it tends to taste more artificial.

    • @Puglover130
      @Puglover130 3 месяца назад +2

      I guess it shouldn’t be so surpising though, because first of all, most foods contain added sugar. Bea said something like 78% - and if they included meat, fruit and veg in that number (the base number not the 78%) that would mean if you left out unprocessed food, it’s be more like 92% or more!
      But the other thing is how sugar makes us so much hungrier. So abstaining from sugar would cut the appetite, and then the rule would make it so you’d have to eat pretty healthy .. ❤
