maybe some small advice: since your channel runs absolutely BEAUTIFULLY painted armies, you could do close ups on a lateral level with the camera of the units that are about to make the big attacks/fights? It adds to some more immersion when you do these battlereports. Some close ups on a horizontal level is just chef's kiss m8 edit: just to get that sweet close up so we can admire those painted models bro@@dailydice
Best painted armies over any battle reports ive seen on this whole app you guys are my favourite to watch, always a fun and interesting game keep em coming !
Incredible painting and base work, especially for Black Templars. As great as the BT Intercessors looked… I would’ve chosen 5 (Firstborn) Crusaders myself; they can equip 1 heavy weapon (Lascannon) and 1 special weapon (Plasmagun) for only 65 points! I got into WH40K in late 8e so nearly all of my SM are Primaris and I don’t own any Firstborn Crusaders, but I have plenty of Primaris Crusaders; I’ve converted some of them with Lascannons and Plasma Cannons from a Devastator squad and Plasmaguns from a Hellblasters squad. They’re Primaris models but I proxy them as Crusaders. They’re ideal for securing DZ objectives and taking potshots at enemy units. I noticed that the character leading the Deathshroud Terminators was the Lord of Contagion model, rather than a Death Guard Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour. I understand proxying the Lord of Contagion because its more thematic DG appearance and the DG Terminator Lord does have a better Ability. I wouldn’t have equipped the Living Plague enhancement on a melee squad, especially against a melee army like BT. Also, the Droning enhancement synergizes best with the Noxious Blightbringer’s The Bell Tolls ability (and is thematic because of the Cursed Plague Bell he carries on his back). I would’ve swapped the leaders with their enhancements between those two DG Terminator squad because Living Plague is better for a shooting squad (Blightlords) and the Droning is better for a melee squad (Deathshrouds). Great battle report!
Cheers for your insight buddy and glad you enjoyed the report!! Yeah I totally would consider that if I thought the firstborn crusaders where going to stick around, but I know I'll kit bash a unit, spend forever painting and they'll be removed from play, I'm pretty certain that it's on the horizon sadly. And can't really speak for DG I'll let richard answer them ones. Thanks again and cheers for the support 👍
@@dailydice My Crusaders kitbashing wasn’t difficult or time-consuming because I magnetized my Primaris Crusaders’ weapon arms anyway, so even if Firstborn Crusaders are removed from codex in the future, I can easily revert back to standard equipment. I only needed to assemble, magnetize, and paint 4 extra weapons and arms: 2 Lascannons and 2 Plasmaguns, for 2 5-man squads of Crusaders. If I wanted every weapon option for the Crusaders, YES, that would require a lot of extra work, but I decided to keep it simple. Most BT players agree that the Lascannon is the heavy weapon to choose because it packs so much punch for a 65-point squad. TBH the weapons don’t matter that much; the 5-man Crusader squads are there for securing primaries and scoring secondaries for only 65-points each. My points-scoring and win rate have increased significantly since I started using 5-man Crusader squads a few months ago. Prior to that I’d spend those points on a Hellblasters squad or Ballistus dreadnought, and made the mistake of neglecting my DZ objectives, causing me to fall behind on points and have to catch up. Also, they prevent opponents from Deep Striking into my backfield and stealing my primaries, because all my melee squads are charging forward.
Yo, ya definitely right on the Droning. Tbh I only added that in because I had 10 points left over. And it's terrible against Black templars with LD5+ lol My next list will be focused on plague marines and attached characters. So might see the blightbringer with the droning in that list. Now about the chaos lord vs Lord of contagion. Its definitely a difficult one for me. The lords ability mixed in with the living plague can be fantastic (it wasn't in this game 😅💀) so. Next time I run that model. Think I will use him as a lord of contagion. With enhancement for +1 S&A (+2 if near infected marker) his ability to reroll all hit rolls means him and his deathshroud can fish for lethal hits. Combined with the sustained hits strat means they could be pretty spicy. So keep an eye out. I will get a Death Guard victory on this channel at some point 😅😅😅 💀💀💀🪰
@@reavern yeah good point, to be truthfully honest my templars are really based around aesthetics over competitive builds so I mainly just buy units I like the look of and will enjoy painting over anything, if it does well in game then bonus if not then it's no worries but if I ever get back into the tournament scene and fancy taking them I will definitely look more into the point effective units and take the 5 man crusaders on board for sure! yeah good point, to be truthfully honest my templars are really based around aesthetics over competitive builds so I mainly just buy units I like the look of and will enjoy painting over anything, if it does well in game then bonus if not then it's no worries but if I ever get back into the tournament scene and fancy taking them I will definitely look more into the point effective units and take the 5 man crusaders on board for sure!
@@richarddixon1450 I usually choose the Accept Any Challenge vow for the synergy with Sigismund’s Seal for a “mini-Helbrecht” Castellan, rather than UtHotE for the 6 FNP and 5+ Leadership, which makes Droning viable on a Nox-Blightbringer. I also mostly play casually with my WH40K friends group and they know I favour the Sustained Hits vow, so the Droning enhancement can work - and it’s only 10 points, like you said. I believe the best defence is an overwhelming offence. With Accept Any Challenge, my Crusader and Sword Brethren squads delete whatever they touch, bypassing Fight Back, rendering FNP rolls and Leadership tests moot. My Sword Brethren squads are safe in Land Raiders, whereas my 20-man Crusader squad (sometimes 2) are vulnerable to Plagueburst mortars (4 auto-hits from Blast b/c 20 models) and my opponent’s list usually has 2 or 3. I accept that my Crusader mobs will suffer casualties (that’s thematic with Black Templars’ combat doctrine), but with Scout 6”, cover, charge rerolls, and some luck, my Crusaders can get into combat in Turn 2 and cannot be shot by the mortars. I know 6 FNP could help lower casualties, but IME Sustained + Lethal Hits kill more enemies, which reduces damage taken from Fight Back and the enemy’s Fight phase, which minimizes my casualties. It’s the age old debate between offence and defence, and with Black Templars, I go all-in on offence!
@dailydice not a problem man I enjoy yalls reps it's fun to watch. I'd like to see an apocalypse match eventually. Possibly as a subscriber amount reward?
Fantastic battle reps. Highly underrated, but I imagine you're gonna be growing fast. Little request, could you add some little pebbles on the tabletop. Dunno why, that little touch makes it so much more immersive.
In round 5 when the DG player drew Engage with only two units, he can discard it and draw another card for free. Great game, absolutely stunning armies.
😭😭😭😭😭😭 In fairness I'd been absolutely battered by that point. Just realised, this probably my first game of tenth where a gambit might of actually been worth a try!
These are some of the best painted armies I have ever seen. Those mechanic eyes on the death guard vehicles is just crazy. Is that painting or actually modeled out of some different material? Also props for the crisp camera, I feel like a few channels miss out on that even though it adds a lot to the aesthetic value
Wow thanks for the compliment man! I'll let Richard answer the question about the eyes as I have no idea 🤣 And cheers dude really appreciate it, it's something iv been working hard on to try get the best results with what iv got 🍻🙂
Cheers, the lenses are just dark red, red, orange then yellow circles. Then I glaze over them with red then ardcoat. Makes it look like a lense is over the eyes. It's relatively easy to do in all fairness. Just have to be beat with ya circles lol 💀💀💀🪰
Thanks dude! Yeah I really enjoy them tbh, like you say 2k games can sometimes take forever and smaller games can be alot more fun in the list building stage I find, you really have to consider each unit 👌
Yeah me and Sam have been playing 1k 1.25 and 1.5k games for ages. And they are great. The primary and secondaries missions always keep things fair and usually take it to the wire.
I'd recommend more plague marines loaded up with all the special weapons you can. Plague spewers plasma guns, etc. then add in the biologus putrifier, foul blightspawn, etc. At short range with the -1AP plague they can do a lot of damage. Let rhinos, etc take the brunt of the initial attack and then counter. Also use nurglings to just stop your guys being rushed. Infiltrate them and just get in the way while you move up. Blightlords - I agree, i'm not sure what to do with them which is a pity as they are cool models.
Yeah totally agree with you stephen, i think you'll enjoy the next up and coming report dropping this week, plenty of plague marines fully loaded with special weapons 👌 keep your eyes peeled 🙌
Great game lads. The Death Guard will get there in the end. Ive been running them in 10th a bit too and i really cant find any use for blightlord termies. Wasted points in comparison to the deathshroud. Especially deathshroud with the lord of virulence in there. Hes a great HQ i think.
Cheers Adam! Yeah it's a shame really cos deathguard are such a cool army and I love there rules for the most part. Maybe a 6+++ throughout would set them straight!? 🤔
@@dailydice Hard to say really. They already got the update to their sickness rule which I think is really good so I can't see them getting another army rule update until the codex release. But who knows.
I've just replied to someone else about the Death Guard and my issues and what I plan to do going forward. The blightlords are gone. So is the sorcerer. I'm gonna change the terminator lord back to a lord of contagion. With the weapon enhancement (+1 S&A or +2 next to infected marker) Hopefully use his reroll all hits ability with the Deathshroud combined with the sustained hits strat to fish for 6s I've also had a stock check on my plague marines.
