    Hello from Australia 😊, just purchased LG 75QNED86 2024 which is Edge Lit. Being in my early sixties, i cannot fault the viewing aspect of this TV. I have never been concerned with high quality sound or vision as ive had over 30 years of analogue tube watching lol. It came with sound bar and complimentary wall installation at a price of AUS $2150, which compared to later tech is a complete no brainer. I believe that the quality of this tv is going to satisfy most people, sure the high end tv may be clearer or sharper with best contrast , however my LG is still of excellent viewing and for most people who just want a clear crisp picture for less money is why i recommend this technology.

    If possible kindly explain local dimming in direct lit. In edge lit and full array it's mostly clear to me.

    • @BabitSingh
      @BabitSingh  3 года назад +3

      Not all local dimming works the same, and certain types of local dimming work better than others. For instance a manufacturer can claim local dimming in Edge Lit as well but it is a term loosely used and will not be as effective (In fact its gimmicky) as a Full array. With Direct LED Local dimming will be comparatively better than Edge Lit's but cannot compete with Full array as it lights up and dims each zone on a scene by scene basis in Full array LED's. Also, please note that I mentioned that Direct Lit TVs, like Full Array TVs, have LEDs placed throughout the back of the television (but fewer of them), so in effect even in terms of Local dimming it will be better than Edge Lit's but nowhere close to the Full array LED's.

      Thanks for asking brother. It depends on your requirements too, if you are into gaming on the PS then Sony is the way to go cause it comes with. Native refresh rate of 120hz. Although the Vizio benefits from having a Full array panel but lacks Local dimming therefore you can't enjoy local dimming on this Full array panel. Plus it is limited to 60 hz refresh rate, so if you are into PS5 gaming then you might as well stay away from it. The Sony X85J misses out on VRR but is a brighter panel with a much better contrast ratio. if I were you I'd still go with the Sony in this comparison brother.

    Great video. What is your opinion on the 2020 Samsung frame TV? It has black levels almost as good as an oled but is edge lit with no local dimming. How do you think Samsung managed to achieve such deep black levels? Is it because of the contrast ratio of over 8000?

    • @BabitSingh
      @BabitSingh  3 года назад +3

      Great question brother. Well, the blacks are still not as deep as OLED's but they have done a great job I agree. Samsung uses dual LED Backlighting in their Frame TV's, one for cool colors and one for warm which also helps with the color balance and contrast ratios. And yes, the TV has very good contrast ratios, that could also be one of the reasons why the blacks look good. Lastly I'd also like to mention that it's a VA panel and compared to an IPS panel, the VA panel will also dish out better contrast ratios and will have better blacks than an IPS panel.

    Hi there, thanks for the explanation. Is backlight bleeding just happened to LED TV with Edge Lit only or can happen to Full Array LED TV too?
    Because I plan to buy LG 50Nano86 series, And in the specs it say powered by Edge Lit LED not Full Array LED...
    And there are some says that Backlight bleeding common happen to IPS panel with Edge Lit LED TV? Which LG Nano86 series have IPS panel. And this seldom happen to VA panel with Edge Lit LED TV? Is that true?
    As the only Nanocell series with Full Array LED are Nano90 series and above. But they are not available in 50 in. Could you give some advice?
    Recently I just consider to take whether Samsung 50 UA9000 or LG 50Nano86, but from many reviews LG Nanocell series have more advantages than Samsung Crystall UHD TV series like UA9000.
    And after see this video. I afraid they will have backlight bleeding issue because using Edge Lit LED.

    • @BabitSingh
      @BabitSingh  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for asking brother. Backlight bleed can happen on any TV. They are LED's after all, its just the volume and placement of them that's different. But since they are LED's irrespective of the cost, manufacturer or Backlight technology, bleeding can happen on any LED TV. IPS panels with Edge lit are comparatively more likely to have bleeds than a VA Panel. Having said that an alternative to the LG could be Samsungs QLED line up form 2021. They are comparatively cheaper and have more features. You may want to take a look at them. I personally own a Samsung AU9070 (2021 model) which is a VA Edge lit panel and am very happy with the gray uniformity, black levels and backlighting overall.

Don't get me wrong, LG makes great TV's and each unit is different to another. If you do get a trouble free unit, the chances are it will see you through the next 5-6 years without any issues. But based on numbers, IPS edge lit panels are comparatively more vulnerable to Backlight bleed than VA Edge lit panels. But they are still great for viewing angles and bright colors.

      Recently I want to replace it with Samsung 50UA9000 Crystall UHD TV, until I got info about LG Nanocell TV series. And makes me re-consider, which one of these TVs to replace my old Samsung HD TV...
      Before this video, I almost purchase LG 50Nano86, which is great TV.

      Thank you brother. In my personal opinion. Yes. Cause the light glow from the Edge lit is pretty evident. Can't miss it. If someone sees it side by side then yes, they will be able to make the difference out. But if someone has only seen edge lit and not Full array, I don't think it's going to matter much. Let me put it this way to give it context, when you watch a mobile screen resolution, if you have seen let's say the Redmi Note 9 Pro screen and no other screen then its going to be fine for you, but the moment you bring in the iphone and then check back on your Redmi phone then you will definitely be able to make out the difference. Hope this helps.

    • @BabitSingh
      @BabitSingh  3 года назад

      @@ashish2ranjan2 Oh ok. The Q8 is not a flat screen rather a curved TV so may not suit your needs since you are looking for a flatscreen. The Q7 has an LED LCD Panel which is rated as A+ and is most likely a backlit/Direct LED and is also a QLED. The mid range budget TV's have really caught up to highly priced TV's like Samsung and Sony and unless you are a videophile you will not be able to make out a difference in terms of picture quality.

    Good & detailed review man. I purchased X80J 55 inch last week. I am quite impressed with the picture quality tbh, considering the panel to be a DLED. The color profile is natural and watching standard slew of HDR contents on Netflix/Disney+ with 'Dolby Vsion Bright' enabled is incredible. Wish it had local dimming zone feature out of the box, I have adjusted the black levels, it aint perfect, although bias lighting in the room do help. Hope X80J owners get to see VMM & ALLM added via firmware update for PS5 later this year. The only drawback is lack for HDMI 2.1 support. I dont care about it honestly, PS5 can't do true 4K at 60FPS in demanding titles, let alone 120hz. At the outset, I believe nothing is future proof, technology is always evolving.

      That is an important point brother. Yes, thank you for bringing it up. Unless the panel is damaged the backlight can be repaired i guess. Of course the cost of repair will be more than DLED's backlights. But with the falling TV prices, it's always better to go in for a new Tv than to repair a TV if it breaks down after a period of 5 years.

    Seems to me there's _no standardization_ for what allows a manufacturer to claim "Direct LED" or "Full Array LED" screen. That leaves room for manufacturer's to make claims that their screens are better than they really are without actually lying.
    Any company could simply claim their (actually) Direct LED screen is a Full Array screen and not have any legal issues. Example: is "Full Array" 1 LED per 4cm^2 or is it 4 LEDs per 4cm^2? Some people might argue 1 LED per 4cm^2 is "Full Array LED"...but how is it dealt with in the industry? (just used per cm^2 for the example. Perhaps better would be some number of LEDs (presumably in a grid pattern) to be defined as the total emitters covering a percentage of screen area to address different sized screens? Could also depend on emitter size, distance from LCD panel, emitter brightness, any dispersion medium, etc)
    And then you get into the number of "Dimming Zones". This may OR may not have as much impact considering the number of LEDs in a particular Direct or Full Array screen. You could potentially find a Direct screen with more dimming zones than a Full Array screen. It also depends on how well the dimming zone algorithms are implemented, so a Direct screen with fewer dimming zones could be visually superior to a Full Array screen with twice the number of dimming zones. It's not a given that a Full Array LED screen TV is always going to be superior to a Direct LED screen TV of similar size.
    This reminds me of the way battery manufacturers make totally *impossibly* high Amp-Hour capacity claims (e.g. 10,000mAh for an 18650 3.7V Li-ion cell) simply by manipulating _non-standardized_ test protocols and definitions...and they may even technically not be making any false claims because their testing is designed to achieve the numbers they want...even when they aren't applicable in the real world uses of the battery.
    edit: added the paragraph about dimming zones.

    Seems you forgot to explain this part.
    Edge Lit vs. Direct Lit;
    As with Full Array televisions, Direct Lit TVs use several rows of LEDs placed behind the entire surface of the screen. However, Direct Lit televisions don't use local dimming, which is a key factor in how Full Array TVs are able to produce deep, uniform blacks. Because of this, pictures produced on Direct Lit TVs tend to be lower quality, lacking in depth, and produce more gray tones-rather than deep, true blacks. And although Edge Lit TVs don't produce blacks on the same level as Full Array televisions, they do use local dimming technology to create deep, nuanced images that go far beyond what Direct Lit televisions are capable of.
