Here are a few I'd like to see: Xavier Thomas, Aashari Crosswell, Trey Dean, Jaycee Horn, Tyson Campbell, Elijah Hicks, Kouny Deng, Hamilcar Rashed Jr, Cameron McGrone, Merlin Robertson, Tyler Johnson (from ASU), Quincy Roche, Thomas Booker, and Alim McNeil
His arm strength is decent. Its his accuracy, quick release and ability to make a play with his feet that makes him great. He's also doing this in a great offensive system. A lot of his touchdowns were to wide open targets and you rarely see him fit the ball into tight coverage. But that's not saying that he can't.
I don't see him consistently going through his progression. Not in this video at least. He can certainly develope it, but he stares down a lot in this video and gets bailed out by his athleticism. Otherwise he looks NFL ready.
Mike B there was enough slow mo’s for you to see him go through reads.. but I also saw him stare down a few guys, and he left some air under a few throws as well. At the same time he showed flashes of real arm talent.
Brock Donlan - This is college, he is in a lower part of college football though. That’s why people don’t acknowledge him, but I think he would be great at a higher level of college football.
For anyone saying "he locks into his primary target"...Did you even watch this video? 0:49 - here he is looking off the short crossing route before throwing a dime deep. 1:16 - You get to literally watch him make a read and watch him quickly react and throw another dime 2:04 - Proof is in the pudding here...makes a couple miss while quickly readdressing the pocket and escaping while looking downfield 4:16 - Hits secondary target with nice ball placement while scrambling right with defender in his face 5:29 - Looks like TE Seam is his 3rd read - either that or he was just holding the safety with his eyes...which is impossible if you "lock into the primary target" 6:09 - Please watch this - the safety comes up and he's going to glance at him before making the decision to throw the wheel. 7:54 - Selling PA again, opening up with his eyes looking right probably keeping the safety before throwing a bomb to the opposite side. 8:04 - 2nd option while running away from 2 defenders 8:22 - Watch him hold #20 to the wide side of the field before throwing opposite again 8:50 - This play was pretty bad by the defense - but only worked because he was able to look off his primary 9:04 - This is a goody, look like a delayed DB blitz which Lance picks up and thinks about throwing that direction - pulls down and makes a great play 9:38 - Once again he playactions and sets up one way - throwing deep the other direction.
Yep, lots of armchair quarterbacks who regurgitate talking points they’ve heard from someone else. Not to mention the fact that this is a highlight video not game film.
NDSU QB Trey Lance had as close to a perfect season as one could get. As a Redshirt Freshman, Lance threw for 2,786 yards & 28 TDs while also rushing for 1,100 yards & 14 TDs. He scored 42 total TDs without throwing a pick. His lone blemish was one lost fumble. The Bison finished the season with a perfect (16-0) record winning its 8th Championship in nine years. @K R Carson has already proved himself to be an MVP-caliber QB in the NFL. And Hurts is literally nothing more than a backup, he's probably not even the QB2 this year...he's there to learn from Carson, he knows he isn't taking the job.

I live in Fargo and have gone to alot of NDSU games, I was at his 1st start game, against Butler. Walking in I heard that Lance was starting, I wondered, "Why are they starting a redshirt freshmen at QB when they have a transfer from Iowa State who could be starting instead and has more experience then Lance does". After seeing him pass or run for 5 touchdowns, I knew why hw was starting. And I was at the National Championship Game that NDSU won as well. I wasn't at the game they had in the Fall, no fans were. He has been flat out amazing. The 9er fans will love him.
yeah i’m not completely sold on this dude until he plays tougher competition. he made some impressive throws but the receivers were literally wide open every time. if he balls out against oregon then i’ll believe the hype but it’s too early to tell rn
Derek Johansen or something did i ever say he was bad? all i said was i need to see more, a bunch of highlights of him throwing to wide open receivers and bulldozing over bad tacklers isn’t enough to warrant a first round pick for me YET.

I was looking for a comment like this lol. You're absolutely right. He's shedding tackles against insurance salesmen and guys who will be working in factories in a couple years. Guys in the NFL won't miss those easy tackles and will have much better coverage. Dude stares down his primary target more than anyone I've ever seen. He's got bust written all over him.

@@anthonymarra8979 It takes more than being an athlete to succeed as an NFL QB. In fact, I'd say that stuff isn't nearly as important as being cerebral. Lance has a lot of problems in his game. He isn't even close to being worth a 1st round pick IMO. He doesn't go through his progressions until 5 seconds later, he stares down his primary target, doesn't read defenses well, and really doesn't jump off the camera to me but that's subjective. He'll be RGIII IMO

As a Jmu duke I want him out as soon as possible. Mad respect for the kid. The schampionship game we new we needed to force a turnover which of coarse never came. He can make it to the next level. Protects the ball like Brady.
operator0 it would be nice but it wouldn't make any sense financially since Conference USA is basically all southern schools the closest school is would be Western Kentucky and that's a 15 hour drive
operator0 the closest conferences they could play in would be the big 10 with Minnesota being their closest rival, the mac with norther Illinois being their closest rival and the most realistic would be the MAC conference unless the want to go to the big 10 and risk being the new Rutgers
@@kengurukapromesse9781 NDSU is much better than Rutgers with half the scholarships. NDSU would probably be better than Indiana, Northwestern, and Maryland. They would certainly be better after they get up to snuff on the scholarships. I believe they've won every FBS game they've played since 20111. I know they've beat Minnesota. NDSU's real problem is stadium size. If they went to a major conference like the big 10, they would have to upgrade that dome, which currently seats less than 20k.

Ice Out You do realize Carson Wentz played at the same schools and he almost won MVP had he stayed healthy. When he’s healthy he’s a top 5 top 7 Qb in the league and he didn’t play against SEC or Big 10 schools. When judging QBs you want to look at their accuracy, anticipation, pocket presence, how they read defenses and mental toughness when they’re faced with adversity. This kid has almost all of those qualities plus a powerful arm and big body. Anyone who watches football regularly wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up in the NFL or even in the first round.
@@frederikbrandt424 Hes way slower than Cam Newton. Cam Newton was running away, through and around elite talent at Auburn, Lance is running over D3 5'11 200 linebackers, there isnt a comparison. Lance is not as fast as people think, he uses his size to his advantage against inferior talent, that wont translate in the NFL.

@@knowitall3892 You could easily make that comparison. His pocket agility, capacity to throw across his body accurately without his feet set and most of all his decision making (when you watch his games THIS factor is a standout) will make watching him as he transitions to the NFL must see sport.

The way this season is going.. The 49ers will be in the top 10 in picks.. We should draft this kid and develop him for a year.. Cutting JG10 will save 24M and only have 2.8M in dead cap..
Dude I am so down to either get Fields or Lance. But I don't think Shanahan likes athletic dual threat QBs. Him and his dad had issues with RGIII in Washington and he looks for more of a traditional pocket passer in his system. Honestly I think he's gonna shoot for Cousins and try to offer Minnesota a player and some draft picks, he loves Cousins. But I do think the new QB Era is of those who play like Russell Wilson and Mahomes. If we want to compete in the NFC against Arizona and Seattle we have to match them on their QB play by getting one of these guys!
Man this kid might be something special in the NFL. I also noticed terrible tackling by some of those defenders in this clip. Not wrapping up and blown coverages. They were letting every receiver beat them downfield. Still giving credit to Trey cuz you still gotta see your man open and deliver it perfectly.
If the Niners draft him, he’ll be a superstar in Kyle’s system. Since we need a mobile QB and his deep ball seems accurate, if we don’t draft him we’re missing a huge opportunity.

Had to look up the game on which a college played football in a baseball stadium. North Dakota hosted Butler at Target Field the home of the Minnesota Twins in 2019 and beat Butler 57-10
Not to mention did this with a first year head coach, and first year OC. Basically a whole new coaching core on both sides of the ball with Kleinman going to Kansas State.

NDSU is a dominate run team. They pound the ball and get the corners, safeties and LB’s looking in the backfield then play action the crap out of them. Plus their 2 WR’s have NFL level speed. One is Darren Sproles cousin and the other is a high 4.3 kid. They also play against several corners that will be playing in the NFL on Sundays. I can think of 3 they played against that got drafted this past draft.
0 interceptions on any level is great. Man, don't be that "guy". The other teams has guys on scholarship as well. This not some former guys getting together on a Saturday to rekindle past glory on the gridiron.

@@TheAnonix We´re gonna pick in the top 10 and I really like this kid. Great arm that can make all the throws, amazing deep ball, great in play-action and he can move very well. I see him throwing to a lot of wide open receivers but that´s what Shanahan always tries to do.
The more I watch I am coming to the determination that this kid only does two things really good and that is throw the deep ball and run with the football not sure that is going to be enough to be an elite quarterback at the next level.
The guy stares at one receiver the whole time. If he is unable to make different reads then he is going to be a bust. You can just stare at your receiver at the NFL level

I like how you combined his 28 passing TDs with his 14 rushing TDs. But still to go 28-0 TDs to int is still pretty good for a season.

After seeing him pass or run for 5 touchdowns, I knew why hw was starting. And I was at the National Championship Game that NDSU won as well. I wasn't at the game they had in the Fall, no fans were. He has been flat out amazing. The 9er fans will love him.

When he’s healthy he’s a top 5 top 7 Qb in the league and he didn’t play against SEC or Big 10 schools. When judging QBs you want to look at their accuracy, anticipation, pocket presence, how they read defenses and mental toughness when they’re faced with adversity. This kid has almost all of those qualities plus a powerful arm and big body. Anyone who watches football regularly wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up in the NFL or even in the first round.

NDSU is a dominate run team. They pound the ball and get the corners, safeties and LB’s looking in the backfield then play action the crap out of them.
Plus their 2 WR’s have NFL level speed. One is Darren Sproles cousin and the other is a high 4.3 kid.
They also play against several corners that will be playing in the NFL on Sundays. I can think of 3 they played against that got drafted this past draft.
