I remember when my dentists were having a hard time removing my braces and they called in a large old fellow. They seemed to be arguing, but I didn't really pay any mind to it until the old man who seemed... frustrated, came up to me and took nearly half of my molar off with the brace. The taking off the glue part was when I started crying. My teeth were so sensitive that it was so cold and I felt it almost inside my teeth. It wasn’t technically painful but so uncomfortable and cold, my teeth hurt just thinking of it.

It really depends on your orthodontist on whether it hurts or not. My ortho was really good and it didn’t hurt at all and the brackets were off within 2 minutes but i’ve heard that some orthos are not gentle at all and will rip the brackets off or cut gums. I will sat in the week in between getting my braces off and getting my retainers, my teeth moved a bit so starting retainers hurt.

I was told by some people that taking braces off was painful and a long process, so I always feared the day. I got mine taken off a few days ago and it was actually painless. The orthodontist was VERY fast with the drill, I thought he’d cut my gums 😭 The residue powder drilling off rising into the air honestly smells so bad, and there was so much of it it actually felt difficult to breathe. All of the glue was taken off within 3 or 4 minutes but I could say the only uncomfortable part about it is the cold air because I have sensitive teeth; they told me to raise my hand if they need to stop for a second. The bleeding is probably caused by the pressure because I wasn’t cut, surprisingly.. but I was bleeding a lot mainly because I had swollen gums💀

I’ve had to have a spreader, 2 rounds of braces, and a round of Invisalign. Ngl, you definitely feel discomfort and pain if they are popping brackets off of teeth that had to be moved around a lot (not to mention when you have to go in and change those bands), but the worst part is the dust from the glue. It gets in all the sensitive areas and it’s pretty hard to breath because the dust is flying in your nose and mouth lol. But it’s worth it after it’s all done I guess.

YES, and when they had to do the moulding for the retainer, there was a stage where they put a blue led light to cure something, that burnt BAD, i was counting down to when it would stop.
When I got my braces it off my teeth felt so COLD (I have sensitive teeth) and that cold es hurt like a buttcheek on a stick. I was literally digging my nails in my hands 💀
When I got my braces off there was alot of blood! I asked the hygenist if it would hurt and she told me it would only be pressure ( I think if you had braces youd be used to it) but after the braces came off and the drilling started she got really close to my gums and kept nicking them, it was painful but I felt going with it and by the end when she gave me a mirror I smiled a bloody smile, it was like a horror movie haha. If you are experiencing pain you should tell someone and not just suffer through it, Im happy to see thats not the norm. With a ortho theyll look after you :)
The pain you feel is so dependent on your dentist. Within the dentist company I use, I had one woman who accidentally ripped out 3 of my teeth as a child and then told me the pain was just “pressure”, then there was another woman who whenever she operated on me I felt absolutely nothing! It goes to show that sometimes it’s not just the patient.
Personally, it felt like my teeth were going to snap in half when they were taking the braces off and it felt like they were freezing my teeth while taking off the glue While doing this, the lady was talking to another dentist about how she accidentally ripped off someone's enamel
I went to the dentist this morning and they said that I will need a brace for my teeth not braces but a brace because I need to move my lip? I guess and they said I have a class 2 so I want to know what a tooth brace is PLEASE 😫

I think it depends on the orthodontist. As from reading the other comments, I guess other people haven't had the best experience getting their braces off. For me, it really didn't hurt. Sure, the drill was a bit weird and it sort of burned a bit, but the experience is fine. My teeth felt so much better and lighter. I think everyone's experience is different :)

seeing these other comments, i got hella lucky.. when i got my braces off, it wasn’t painful at all, but my teeth were a little sensitive when they were getting the glue off. I just remember that unless i actually touched them, i couldn’t feel if my teeth were actually there 💀💀 felt like i was taking dentures out or smth getting your braces off is nothing like the pain of getting them on though.. and tightening the wires.. and the expanders.. and rubber bands. 🙏🙏🙏
Getting my braces off didn’t hurt a bit, rather it relieved some built up tension from the braces. The worst part was the drilling, I do tend to have a very low pain tolerance and am very sensitive basically anywhere in my body. I was crying and too afraid to speak because when I would discuss the problem, being that it was painful for me, they’d immediately shut me down saying it wasn’t. And then kept asking why I was crying. They ended up having to schedule me several different appointments to remove the glue which was just as hard as the previous appointment, my mother ended up scolding me for not communicating what was wrong to the orthodontist but I was so frustrated because I had mentioned the issue several times before. They ended up giving me some teeth sensitivity paste or something and said to put it on my retainers (since I had the braces taken off) and wear it on overnight, however the pain even then was too unbearable that I was unable to do so. I’ve never had any cavities and my dentists have always said my teeth were perfectly fine besides brushing more at the gums because my gums would be swollen from my braces and it hurt for me to brush them. Besides that I’ve had multiple surgeries and procedures done on my mouth that I think just made the pain ten times word. So thankful I have those things off.

I’m going to get my braces off on Thursday and I’m scared because they have used the tool to take off glue before to readjust my bracket and put a new one on and my teeth were really sensitive. I don’t like the feeling I don’t know about other people but it hurts me especially the bottom teeth in front. Hopefully all goes well.
Teeth sensitivity it's common and if you have this issue, mention it to your dentist and they are going to provide with instructions on what to do prior your appointment , like an special toothpaste and mouthwash and maybe even some varnished to help to reduce your sensitivity prior to take your braces off! It only hurt for me when taking off the brackets on my bottom teeth. They were so sensitive it😖. The drilling part also felt like super hot on my teeth, it was uncomfortable. But speak to your ortho. I did and they gave me breaks and even tried to be as gentle as possible.

It hurt a lot for me. It felt like my teeth were going to come off with the brackets. My braces experience was so bad I'd never recommend anyone put braces on. I've spent more money trying to fix the damage from braces than I spent on the braces themselves and that's the story for nearly everyone I know who had them on
Not a dentist myself or anything of the sort but often times gum bleeding is just natural. Usually it happens when someone has an infection. Often just caused by people not brushing or flossing their teeth enough which leads to gum sensitivity and bleeding around the gums that goes away as they brush and/or floss more. I've had it happen plenty of times when stuff has been done to my teeth that was completely unrelated to how well the dentist did their job.

When you have braces to can you eat popcorn and hard stuff if you carful or will it break the bracket I’m getting braces soon and I scared ima break one and is it better to use and electric toothbrush or a normal one pls answer thanks you
so the electrical toothbrush is better to use when you have braces. just make sure to use a circular head on the brush instead of a normal one. normal toothbrush is fine tho. and for the popcorn, it depends on how you eat it. eat carefully, and you won’t break a single bracket.
also don't eat chewy or sticky stuff and it will get stuck to your braces, or just suck on it. Don't bite anything hard either. Watch the Bentist or other orthodontists for more help.
honestly, half of the stuff they forbid you to eat is totally okay to eat, i eat gummies, raffaello, chew gum daily and nothing really happens, just eat one at a time and it will be okay also, i prefer normal toothbrush but it takes whole lotta longer to get everything out, and you have to be super gentle because if you brush harsh bracket could peel off

In order to get mine they have to break my jaw and realign it.. because I have a very severe underbite… I was like nah fam, guess I’m sticking to being a bulldog…
for me it was very painful. they had to break off the brackets which felt like they were ripping out my teeth, then the blade felt soooo bad and made my teeth sensitive.

I had my ortho get glue on my tongue, gums and lips. Part of my lip is smaller cuz of it. And no, it was not the on the same day, they were all different times. They also accidentally glued my lip to my tooth

i had braces one year ago , and i got them off the day before my bday lol. but anyways they didnt hurt a lot, unless if like the orthodontist was inexperienced. they were amazing! i felt kinda weird at first, bc i would always use the christmas brush to get the food out from being in between the brackets. but i got used to it, never felt anything! it just felt like i had my braces on still! now i have to wear retainers/Invisalign until october 2023 :D

The only ever uncomfortable part with braces I have is that thing I believe you use later which is like this really fast spinning thing that looks like a needle and smells like smoke, I found it so extremely uncomfortable every time they used it it felt like they were stinging into my teeth and like making them melt or something.

These comments are freaky. No fr, I’m about to get braces. I’ve heard a lot about braces and I’ve been searching up stuff about them. So here’s my honest explanation that I think what’s happening. ⬇️ During the brace’s processing(when they put it on), it does not hurt. If it does, your teeth are most likely sensitive or wtv. It WILL hurt after, and for the few couple days, then after your teeth gets used to it then it’ll stop hurting. You wear it for however long you need for them eventually you remove it. The removal process should NOT hurt at all. HOWEVER, if it does at all hurt, then your orthodontist probably has never been taught a thing (inexperienced). But again, your teeth could be really sensitive to the point that you flinch, cry tears, etc. But that could be just because your teeth are sensitive, again. Just to be crystal clear, I want to share some things you can/cannot eat while having braces on for beginners. Can: Soft-cooked meats, rice, potatoes, vegetables, Ice-cream, smoothies, eggs, soups, yogurt, mashed potatoes, fruit, pasta, bananas, macaroni and cheese, cheese, pancakes, applesauce, seafood, cottage cheese, fish, putting, pizza, sweet potatoes, Grain, cake, oatmeal, chicken noodle soup, etc… Cannot: Popcorn, potato chip, hard candy, caramel, candy, pizza crust, hard shell taco, bagels, pretzel, cracker, licorice, taffy, gummy candy, coffee(not too sure about this one), jerky, corn chips, croutons, marshmallows(correct me if wrong), gum, crunchy veggies, etc..
That drill thing was one of the top 5 most painful things I've ever felt. It burns so much because of the friction, and you have the urge to use your tongue to lick the drill, but you know why you can't do that. It hurts so much, but all you can do is cry and hope it will end. Safe to say I wasn't happy when I had to get my first cavity filled 3 months later. I actually think the filling hurt less. The people were very gentle, and I was scared the drill would hurt again, so I made them give me more numbing stuff. I didn't feel anything for these fillings, so I was happy, but I will never trust another dentist to use a drill on my teeth without some kind of numbing ever again.
*SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME* So the dentist asked me that why you are getting your braces on..I replied that I m having a little overbite so to arrange that I m getting it on Now after 3 months..my front 2 teeth hv stopped filling the gaps bcoz there isn't much space in between them I m just here to ask that the dentist would fix it or I hv to ask him whether he will do that or he is only concerned about my overbite and not filling of the gaps???? Hi my friend and during your braces treatment we move teeth in different positions and sometimes they might look in a way that you don't like but just remember it's part of the treatment this would be more concerning if it's at the end of your treatment and you can always mention your dentist if there is something that you don't like about the position of your teeth and there is something you can do about it! Got my braces off yesterday and this girl was over the top of me fr like popping the brackets off and it felt like my teeth were about to break in half and then had to get an impression and she ran up behind me a shoves it in my mouth like surprising like “hey I just shoved some pink slime in your mouth don’t choke too death!!” Horrible experience glad it’s over

It do hurts.. i got my braces removed few days ago.. it hurts but not so much that you can't take it.. while pulling of the brackets i felt pain in some teeth because of the force he applied to take it off... While drilling my lower teeth felt extremely uncomfortable and it was painfull also felt pain in some other front teeth, didn't feel any pain in the the wisdom teeth but yeah that was overall painfull!

It is *very* uncomfortable... This is not entirely true. Also, you thought that the discomfort would end when you got your braces off, that isn't true. They are very uncomfortable for some time as your teeth get used to not having something holding them firmly in place. Also, getting them taken off leads to some unpleasant tastes because no matter how clean you kept them, there will always be some nasty old food particles stuck under your brackets and bands, especially in the back.

I’ve had to have a spreader, 2 rounds of braces, and a round of Invisalign. Ngl, you definitely feel discomfort and pain if they are popping brackets off of teeth that had to be moved around a lot (not to mention when you have to go in and change those bands), but the worst part is the dust from the glue. It gets in all the sensitive areas and it’s pretty hard to breath because the dust is flying in your nose and mouth lol. But it’s worth it after it’s all done I guess.
The drill made my teeth have this sensitive aching sensation, I just got them off a couple days ago

YES, and when they had to do the moulding for the retainer, there was a stage where they put a blue led light to cure something, that burnt BAD, i was counting down to when it would stop.

When I got my braces off there was alot of blood!
I asked the hygenist if it would hurt and she told me it would only be pressure ( I think if you had braces youd be used to it) but after the braces came off and the drilling started she got really close to my gums and kept nicking them, it was painful but I felt going with it and by the end when she gave me a mirror I smiled a bloody smile, it was like a horror movie haha.
If you are experiencing pain you should tell someone and not just suffer through it, Im happy to see thats not the norm.
With a ortho theyll look after you :)

The pain you feel is so dependent on your dentist. Within the dentist company I use, I had one woman who accidentally ripped out 3 of my teeth as a child and then told me the pain was just “pressure”, then there was another woman who whenever she operated on me I felt absolutely nothing! It goes to show that sometimes it’s not just the patient.
Personally, it felt like my teeth were going to snap in half when they were taking the braces off and it felt like they were freezing my teeth while taking off the glue
While doing this, the lady was talking to another dentist about how she accidentally ripped off someone's enamel

I think it depends on the orthodontist. As from reading the other comments, I guess other people haven't had the best experience getting their braces off. For me, it really didn't hurt. Sure, the drill was a bit weird and it sort of burned a bit, but the experience is fine. My teeth felt so much better and lighter. I think everyone's experience is different :)

seeing these other comments, i got hella lucky.. when i got my braces off, it wasn’t painful at all, but my teeth were a little sensitive when they were getting the glue off. I just remember that unless i actually touched them, i couldn’t feel if my teeth were actually there 💀💀 felt like i was taking dentures out or smth
getting your braces off is nothing like the pain of getting them on though.. and tightening the wires.. and the expanders.. and rubber bands. 🙏🙏🙏

Getting my braces off didn’t hurt a bit, rather it relieved some built up tension from the braces. The worst part was the drilling, I do tend to have a very low pain tolerance and am very sensitive basically anywhere in my body. I was crying and too afraid to speak because when I would discuss the problem, being that it was painful for me, they’d immediately shut me down saying it wasn’t. And then kept asking why I was crying. They ended up having to schedule me several different appointments to remove the glue which was just as hard as the previous appointment, my mother ended up scolding me for not communicating what was wrong to the orthodontist but I was so frustrated because I had mentioned the issue several times before. They ended up giving me some teeth sensitivity paste or something and said to put it on my retainers (since I had the braces taken off) and wear it on overnight, however the pain even then was too unbearable that I was unable to do so. I’ve never had any cavities and my dentists have always said my teeth were perfectly fine besides brushing more at the gums because my gums would be swollen from my braces and it hurt for me to brush them. Besides that I’ve had multiple surgeries and procedures done on my mouth that I think just made the pain ten times word. So thankful I have those things off.

I’m going to get my braces off on Thursday and I’m scared because they have used the tool to take off glue before to readjust my bracket and put a new one on and my teeth were really sensitive. I don’t like the feeling I don’t know about other people but it hurts me especially the bottom teeth in front. Hopefully all goes well.
Teeth sensitivity it's common and if you have this issue, mention it to your dentist and they are going to provide with instructions on what to do prior your appointment , like an special toothpaste and mouthwash and maybe even some varnished to help to reduce your sensitivity prior to take your braces off! I have supersensitive teeth, and when i was getting my braces off it was uncomfortable but tolerable, I got mine off last monday after having them on for 4 years, you'll be fine, even better if you have a good ortho

Hi my friend and after your braces journey this appointment it's really easy my friend! you might feel just a little bit of pressure but that's it! You got this nothing to be worried about,
It only hurt for me when taking off the brackets on my bottom teeth. They were so sensitive it😖. The drilling part also felt like super hot on my teeth, it was uncomfortable. But speak to your ortho. I did and they gave me breaks and even tried to be as gentle as possible.

It hurt a lot for me. It felt like my teeth were going to come off with the brackets. My braces experience was so bad I'd never recommend anyone put braces on. I've spent more money trying to fix the damage from braces than I spent on the braces themselves and that's the story for nearly everyone I know who had them on

Not a dentist myself or anything of the sort but often times gum bleeding is just natural. Usually it happens when someone has an infection. Often just caused by people not brushing or flossing their teeth enough which leads to gum sensitivity and bleeding around the gums that goes away as they brush and/or floss more. I've had it happen plenty of times when stuff has been done to my teeth that was completely unrelated to how well the dentist did their job.

so the electrical toothbrush is better to use when you have braces. just make sure to use a circular head on the brush instead of a normal one. normal toothbrush is fine tho. and for the popcorn, it depends on how you eat it. eat carefully, and you won’t break a single bracket.
also don't eat chewy or sticky stuff and it will get stuck to your braces, or just suck on it. Don't bite anything hard either. Watch the Bentist or other orthodontists for more help.
Idk depens im getting my braces off tmr and have had them for like 14 months, ate whatever I wanted and broke a bracket only once.

honestly, half of the stuff they forbid you to eat is totally okay to eat, i eat gummies, raffaello, chew gum daily and nothing really happens, just eat one at a time and it will be okay
also, i prefer normal toothbrush but it takes whole lotta longer to get everything out, and you have to be super gentle because if you brush harsh bracket could peel off

i have been wearing braces for 1 year and didn't feel any pain except tooth removal at the beginning and when trying to chew foods to eat
for me it was very painful. they had to break off the brackets which felt like they were ripping out my teeth, then the blade felt soooo bad and made my teeth sensitive.

I had my ortho get glue on my tongue, gums and lips. Part of my lip is smaller cuz of it. And no, it was not the on the same day, they were all different times. They also accidentally glued my lip to my tooth

i had braces one year ago , and i got them off the day before my bday lol. but anyways they didnt hurt a lot, unless if like the orthodontist was inexperienced. they were amazing! i felt kinda weird at first, bc i would always use the christmas brush to get the food out from being in between the brackets. but i got used to it, never felt anything! it just felt like i had my braces on still! now i have to wear retainers/Invisalign until october 2023 :D

The only ever uncomfortable part with braces I have is that thing I believe you use later which is like this really fast spinning thing that looks like a needle and smells like smoke, I found it so extremely uncomfortable every time they used it it felt like they were stinging into my teeth and like making them melt or something.

These comments are freaky. No fr, I’m about to get braces. I’ve heard a lot about braces and I’ve been searching up stuff about them. So here’s my honest explanation that I think what’s happening. ⬇️
During the brace’s processing(when they put it on), it does not hurt. If it does, your teeth are most likely sensitive or wtv. It WILL hurt after, and for the few couple days, then after your teeth gets used to it then it’ll stop hurting. You wear it for however long you need for them eventually you remove it. The removal process should NOT hurt at all. HOWEVER, if it does at all hurt, then your orthodontist probably has never been taught a thing (inexperienced). But again, your teeth could be really sensitive to the point that you flinch, cry tears, etc. But that could be just because your teeth are sensitive, again. Just to be crystal clear, I want to share some things you can/cannot eat while having braces on for beginners.
Can:
Soft-cooked meats, rice, potatoes, vegetables,
Ice-cream, smoothies, eggs, soups, yogurt, mashed potatoes, fruit, pasta, bananas, macaroni and cheese, cheese, pancakes, applesauce, seafood, cottage cheese, fish, putting, pizza, sweet potatoes, Grain, cake, oatmeal, chicken noodle soup, etc…
Cannot:
Popcorn, potato chip, hard candy, caramel, candy, pizza crust, hard shell taco, bagels, pretzel, cracker, licorice, taffy, gummy candy, coffee(not too sure about this one), jerky, corn chips, croutons, marshmallows(correct me if wrong), gum, crunchy veggies, etc..

That drill thing was one of the top 5 most painful things I've ever felt. It burns so much because of the friction, and you have the urge to use your tongue to lick the drill, but you know why you can't do that. It hurts so much, but all you can do is cry and hope it will end. Safe to say I wasn't happy when I had to get my first cavity filled 3 months later. I actually think the filling hurt less. The people were very gentle, and I was scared the drill would hurt again, so I made them give me more numbing stuff. I didn't feel anything for these fillings, so I was happy, but I will never trust another dentist to use a drill on my teeth without some kind of numbing ever again.

Hi my friend and during your braces treatment we move teeth in different positions and sometimes they might look in a way that you don't like but just remember it's part of the treatment this would be more concerning if it's at the end of your treatment and you can always mention your dentist if there is something that you don't like about the position of your teeth and there is something you can do about it! It do hurts.. i got my braces removed few days ago.. it hurts but not so much that you can't take it.. while pulling of the brackets i felt pain in some teeth because of the force he applied to take it off... While drilling my lower teeth felt extremely uncomfortable and it was painfull also felt pain in some other front teeth, didn't feel any pain in the the wisdom teeth but yeah that was overall painfull!

It is *very* uncomfortable... This is not entirely true. Also, you thought that the discomfort would end when you got your braces off, that isn't true. They are very uncomfortable for some time as your teeth get used to not having something holding them firmly in place. Also, getting them taken off leads to some unpleasant tastes because no matter how clean you kept them, there will always be some nasty old food particles stuck under your brackets and bands, especially in the back.
