Beautiful job. You're finished model looks just as good as you're going to get out of any modern kit. I have a few of those older Monogram kits and the fit is always perfect. The tail is probably warped since it's been sitting in the box for so long.
Another accurate review of a wonderful oldie. I am in the final stages of finishing mine as a night fighter. The wingtip navigation lights, being quite undersized, pissed me off so much I puttied them over and will mask and paint them silver with a green or red clear coat as required. Thanks for the great review.
@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 You should do a build review of their avenger, with the folding wings, tail hook torpedo drop. I have it in my stash a lot of flash on the plastic, this will be a fun build.
@richardguzman1491 I haven't built the Avenger, but I have built many other Monogram Classic kits that will be featured on this channel in the future. Stay tuned!
I remember starting this kit in the early 70s, but don't remember if I ever finished it. I have this kit currently, bought it in the late 80's. I probably won't built it, but will get the Tamiya or Revell kit instead. I'll have to check out the tail on my kit though.
Thanks! Sorry, I don't have any experience with the Monogram Avenger. I have two of the Accurate Miniatures Avengers on the shelf but haven't started those either.
OMG, a deja vu review. I built this circa movie " 633 Squadron ". ( special effects really bad but real flying scenes off the chart incredible ). They were 15th AAC escorts out of Libya until we took over boot of Italy WW2. I built it in night fighter version, before all of these great glues and materials Only trouble I had was with landing gear going together. The most amazing aspect of the real Mosquito is it didn't have counter rotating props because UK didn't want the added expense and wanted all aircraft standardized. So it took a little extra training time to fly. You definitely finished the model very well, excellent finish. Can you share which paint you used, the camo was very realistic. Thanks for sharing.
@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 thanks, would have liked to try them. I suspect with the evolution of materials and increasing variety of kits and popularity of modeling they may have cut bait too soon. I do like to stay with a single brand through the build for consistently and minimize layering, but that is getting difficult to accomplish Looking forward to your next review.
I've built quite a few Monogram kits over the years, starting in the 1970s. Back then I loved the kits that were molded in color - saved me the step of painting them! Great memories!

Thanks James. And you're probably right about the tail.
I have two of these kits. One has a warped tail and the other one is straight. Go figure.

Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. Cheers!
Great Work!
I did the Tamiya recently & it's challenging enough!
I did finish the Monogram P61 & B26 marauder last year. 😊
The P-61 and B-26 are a challenge for sure - congratulations! The Mosquito is easier than those.
Another blast from the past. I think I built this in one day as a kid. Excellent work!
Thanks, Steve! It was fun trying to turn this classic kit out well. Cheers!
I built one in the 60s as a child, in the 70s,80s and 90s, in my early 60s now I'm going to get me another one, she will make a perfect day build 😊
Right on Richard!

Good job on an old kit.
If you have tons of unused 1/48 pilots, I'd happily buy them!
I'll have to check. They're not all in one place.
@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 allright! Done any Stukas?

@bobd5197 Right on! I have the Tamiya in the stash. It looks brilliant, but will be a longer build. Cheers!
Wow great build of a classic! Would Love your thoughts on the Monogram classic TBM Avenger as I’ve got one lined up on the bench.

Thank you! I used the now discontinued PollyScale acrylics. I'm still upset that they're no longer in business!

@@c123bthunderpig I agree, once you find what works well together it pays not to change it up too much. Cheers
What do you use to attach clear parts like the canopy here for example?🤔
I use Testors clear part glue which is basically Elmers water based white glue that is thinned with water.
The Mosquito kit dates from 1965!
Monogram was the first to bring us "real" scale models...
It is a shame that the name Monogram is no more.
